HRWiki:Changing username

The user name users choose for themselves is no longer set in stone. On request, bureaucrats can change user account settings and article histories such that all previous edits of a given user are attributed to the new name using Special:Renameuser. Note: You must make the request from the account you want renamed; anonymous requests (except users whose usernames begin with a lowercase letter and therefore cannot log in) are ignored for security reasons.

Requesting a change

To change your user name, please make your request on this page. Please follow the procedure carefully or your request will not be fulfilled.

Instructions

  1. Check if the new name you want does not exist (Special:Listusers). Do not create an account under the new name. (If you already created the new account, don't worry. We can do some stuff and fix it, but it's still recommended that you don't.)
  2. Sign in with the account that you want renamed.
Of course, this is not possible if your account has a lowercase first letter. If you can't log in, then skip this step.
  3. Add your request to the bottom of the section below.
  4. If you are a sysop, please note this fact with your request so that the necessary changes can be made.
  5. Once your request is dealt with, all edits from your old account will be reattributed to your new account.
  6. You should check that the old account has been recreated and blocked to prevent someone else creating the account and impersonating you.
This cannot be done in the case of usernames with a lowercase first letter, but they can no longer be registered so this isn't a problem.
  7. Move and redirect your user page and talk page to the new name if it has not already been done.

Neo foxx000

Could you change my name to simply "Ren Foxx"? At the time I had made my account, I was pretty much a newbie and unaware about how usernames work here when matching it with a user signature according to the first bullet in the HRWiki:Signature section. Sure, the last half matches, but I'd like the whole thing to match. - Ren Foxx 18:18, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Moonea

Could you change my name to "Moonea"? I know the name is created; it's my old account, and I never entered a password and was logged out. I also forgot my password to that account. Thank you in advance! 12:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Dramus

Could you change all edits with the name 'Dramus' to 'TDSDramus'? I'm the same person, but I forgot my password for the Dramus account, and did not have an E-Mail address linked to the Dramus account. Thanks. Lifing for love, drinking for free. 04:20, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Weirdguy

Name was lowercase, but never bothered to have it corrected since that really, really old update because I didn't need to make any changes to the wiki until today. Thanks.

"weirdguy" --> "Weirdguy". Done. -- Tom 06:19, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Chiron

My current name involves my actual name, so I decided that it was a bad idea. I made up this one. Trust me, it's not a good idea to have your name on the 'net. Please help!! --Collin Diver 20:03, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
