Transcript

{Open to a message reading, "In 2006, Flash celebrated its 10th birthday. We made this toon for the folks at Adobe to show at their big birthday celebration. We barely got it to them in time. Originally, the last few lines of dialog were recorded in a bathroom in Brooklyn with a system microphone and a towel over Matt's head". The message disappears after a few seconds.}

{Cut to a Flash program, which is pretty dark and the sound of wind blowing is heard. Strong Bad jumps out from a door and everything becomes bright.}

STRONG BAD: Surprise!! {shakes arms in the air.} Happy birthday, Flash 5!! And to a lesser extent 6, 7, and 8!! Oh, Flash 5, we've been through it all together, except when I needed to embed video...

STRONG BAD: Where's the align panel, where's the align panel?! Align panel, get over here, get over here, you little scuppernong!

{Align panel makes the Homsar walking sound effect as it wobbles its way over to Strong Bad. He puts his hand on the align panel and leans onto it.}

STRONG BAD: Align panel, do you remember that time when you and I were—

{Strong Bad's mask, head, mouth, body, gloves, and feet are moved to the left side of the screen.}

STRONG BAD: Ohh!! That's what I'm talking about! Align left edge! Now space me out all equally, to the stage, to the stage!

{Strong Bad's mask, head, mouth, body, gloves, and feet are spread out equally on the work space.}

STRONG BAD: I like it, I like it!

{Strong Bad realigns back together.}

STRONG BAD: {The frame actions window pops up.} Aw, man! Who invited those pretentious guys? Shouldn't you be at a developer conference somewheres?

{The frame actions window makes the Homsar walking noise and goes offscreen to the right.}

STRONG BAD: Yeah, say hi to tellTarget for me.

{close-up of Strong Bad} All right Flash 5, I got you a little something...

{Record-scratching noise. Zoom out to show Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Happy Days reunion, Photoshop!

STRONG BAD: That is not what I got you. Huya! {Creates a hitting sound effect which freezes Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {Turns into a box in wrapping.} Ooh, shape tween.

STRONG BAD: {Cut to the box in a blue background. Strong Bad pops out of it.} HAPPY FREAKIN' FLASHDAY!!

Explanations

• "Except for when I needed to embed videos" is a reference to Flash 5's lack of Flash Video support.
• The first versions of Flash, then called FutureSplash, were released in April 1996.
• A scuppernong is a large type of muscadine, a grape native to the Southeastern United States, home of the Brothers Chaps.

• The title for this toon is "Flash's 10th Birthday" on the DVD cover, but is written as "Flash 10th Birthday" on the DVD menu.
