Few things are better than 3rd Base

Bookazon.com is a fictitious online bookstore in a spoof of Amazon.com, reached via Easter egg from the Strong Bad Email "studying". It sells a book by Lem Sportsinterviews called This Book is Better Than 1st, 2nd, and Quite Possibly Even 3rd Base. It sells for the odd price of $28.9T (US).

Differences in DVD Version

In the DVD version of studying, the website looks different from how it does on HomestarRunner.com. Among the differences are:

  • The site is now named bookazon.egg, a reference to the email pom pom where Homestar says that he thinks the Web page ends with "dot-egg" instead of "dot-com."
  • The tabs now read, "WELCOME," "STORE," "BOOKS," "VIDELECTRIX," "BVD," "CRAIG," "PRODUKTS," and "AB-ABBERS".
  • Two of the advertisements from Under Construction (the ones for Affordable Hosting and Spam Free Living) now adorn the right side of the screen.
  • The Purchase button section now reads "BUYIN' TIME? BUY THIS JUNK NOW?"
  • Strong Bad also gives his reading of the site.

STRONG BAD: {offscreen} Well, after reading your review, Tempe Sam, I'm thinkin'...no.

Spotlight Reviews

Better than 4th base even?!?

I'm read this book! Twize! It had more chapters than any book I've ever read! Which was my favourite? I dunno. I only read wan. But it got me where I needed to be. The restroom. When I'm done read this book I plan to ride my own. I call it "Leftover Sam and the Leftover Sam Book." Will you by it?!

DISAPPOINTED!!

Rating: 1 Star

This book is only as good as AND NO BETTER THAN first base. Trust me folks, I've been there. True, only once and yes it was about 18 years ago but I'm no dummy. The title is a clear cut case of the ol' Bait and Switch. Most of the book ends up being about one time when the author's basement flooded and how it ruined all his old "Prince Valiant" comics.

Another Triumph for Sportsinterviews!!

Reviewer: Just Nobody Sportsinterviews
Rating: 5 Stars

Lem Sportsinterviews has outdone himself this time. After the soothing, mild success of his first published essay, "Why People in Hollywood Ought to Give Me $5,760," Lem has come roaring back like some type of book writing lion. The cover, the title, the fonts, the spacing, the margins, all of it: GOLD! Of particular import are his Chapter Headings including such tear jerkers as: 'My favorite pen quit working just now' and the politically charged 'I had to pay taxes AGAIN this year!' Lem has clearly entered a new stage in his career. Here's hoping it's the bonus stage.

Fun Facts

  • The 3 reader reviews are cliché reviews one finds on such sites. The earliest review is by "Just Nobody Sportsinterviews", which is a blatant attempt by the author to act as a shill to promote sales of his book.
  • Tempe Sam, one of the reviewers for This Book is Better than 1st, 2nd, and Quite Possibly Even 3rd Base, is planning to write a book called Leftover Sam and the Leftover Sam Book. This may be a reference to the band "Leftover Salmon."
  • Prince Valiant is a comic strip created by Hal Foster. The comic is an adventure/drama epic that has had a continuous story for its entire history.
