:There hasn't been a need for large-scale nominations in the past year. Back in the day, things were a bit different. The need for sysops was great, and there were many qualified users. The admins of the time decided that nominations would be an appropriate format for deciding sysops. It was a good way for the community to find the cream of the crop. Nowadays, the need for new sysops is not as great. The cream of the crop is now easier to spot out of the crowd. It is to some, but being able to transcribe something new on the Homestar Runner website is a very rare opporitunity, and I don't try too hard to do so. There are many things that you can do on the site that you don't have to wait for or compete for. DVD transcripts I like writing more, as you can see. However, I think the thing I enjoy doing most is all-around maintenance of the site. Patrolling recent changes, reverting trolls and vandals (which are much more abundant during the summer), perfecting pages [[Wikipedia:Obsessive-compulsive disorder|mild OCD style]], double-checking transcripts (I often call those last two "fix-ups" in my edit summaries).
