===Goofs===
*Although Homestar's star has five points, Strong Bad appears to tear the star into four triangular pieces.
*Strong Bad's pants turn blue when Homestar wrestles Strong Mad. When Strong Bad steps back in the ring, they are black again.
**His pants are also blue near the end of the toon, after the Brothers Strong lose and are standing at the side of the ring while the Announcer is announcing Homestar and Pom Pom as the winners.
*When the Strongs first jump into the ring, Strong Mad looks unusually short.
*When Homestar says, "Hey! Give me back my star," his voice sounds a little cut off at the beginning.
*The exploding sound of the bomb can be heard a few seconds before it acually explodes.
*After Strong Bad's face explodes from the bomb, the marshmallow on his face changes with every shot. The last time he is shown, he has no marshmallow on his face at all.
*When Homestar jumps up to grab the gold star and says "Homestar....RUN!", Strong Bad doesn't scroll down with the rest of the floor while he is laying down.
*When Strong Bad grabs the bomb from under the ring, you can notice on the left of Strong Bad's hands, the blue is overlapping his face, and to the right of his hands, his hand's outline extends into the blue.
*Sometimes, when the ring is zoomed out far enough, you can see in the top left corner where the graphics for the audience end before the frame.
*When Homestar says "Homestar....RUN!" His mouth doesn't move.

* Strong Bad's "You better believe it, man!" sounds almost identical to the same phrase uttered by Jesus Quintana (played by [[Wikipedia:John Turturro|John Turturro]]) in the movie ''[[Wikipedia:The Big Lebowski|The Big Lebowski]]''.
* The rainbow-colored warning is most likely a reference to Paramount Pictures' old FBI warning. It is used in the [[strongbad email.exe|DVD]].
* "The War for the Star" is a parody of boxing matches with rhyming titles (e.g. "[[Wikipedia:Rumble in the Jungle|Rumble in the Jungle]]", "[[Wikipedia:Thrilla in Manila|The Thrilla in Manila]]").
* The Announcer says Strong Bad hails from Parts Unknown. Having more exotic characters (especially masked wrestlers, like Strong Bad) coming from "Parts Unknown" has been pretty standard in wrestling for decades. For example, the Ultimate Warrior and Kane were said to be from Parts Unknown.
* Mr. Bland is holding a sign that says "Wrestling Mania." This is quite likely a reference to the annual [[Wikipedia:Wwe|WWE]] event of [[Wikipedia:WrestleMania|WrestleMania]].
* The music played when Homestar and Strong Bad are staring each other down comes from the movie ''[[imdb:tt0060196|The Good, the Bad and the Ugly]]''.

Since it was a form of treason at the time to print the word "[[Whatsit|poop]]," The Poopsmith was referred to as "Mushy Chamberpot", which might be the funniest part of the cartoon. "Mushy" spoke using only the [[Sir Loodabert Comma| newly-discovered comma]].

Readership was low, and several attempts to gain popularity were tried. A crossover involving [[Strong Bad]] and [[Homestar Runner]] worked until the sole remaining reader died. Later, a "King Castlefunny Pencil Moistener" was released, but since the dry pencil scare of '47 lasted only 3 days, they didn't sell many.

The character style may be based on [[Wikipedia:The Wizard of Id|The Wizard of Id]], a comic by American cartoonists [[Wikipedia:Brant Parker|Brant Parker]] and [[Wikipedia:Johnny Hart|Johnny Hart]].

[[Strong Bad]]'s emails are the most frequently updated feature of the [[Homestar Runner (flash cartoon)|Homestar Runner website]]. They were originally a small feature introduced in 2001, in which Strong Bad would mock the spelling and grammar of those who wrote to him. Although the animations were initially brief, the responses gradually grew to establish numerous catchphrases and [[Inside Jokes|running gags]], as well as spin-offs like [[Trogdor]], [[20X6]], [[Teen Girl Squad]], and even the main character [[Homsar]]. A typical Strong Bad email will also include numerous Easter eggs and other hidden material.

The [[Toons|cartoons]] nominally center on [[Homestar Runner]], a clumsy and unintelligent athlete. The character [[Strong Bad]], however, is often more popular among fans, mostly through his near-weekly updates of [[Strong Bad Email]], short cartoons in which he answers viewer email. Strong Bad works closely with his sidekick [[The Cheat]] and uses his brother [[Strong Mad]] as the muscle in his operations. Together, the three prey on Strong Bad's gawky and constantly depressed brother [[Strong Sad]]. Many of the site's features—[[Songs|music]], [[Games|games]], [[Main Pages|main pages]], etc.—are based on things from the Strong Bad Emails.

Several other characters fill out the world: Homestar's hippie girlfriend [[Marzipan]], his best friend [[Pom Pom]], their coach [[Coach Z]], local concession stand operator and dancer [[Bubs]], [[The King of Town]], and his [[The Poopsmith|Poopsmith]]. Rounding out the cast is [[Homsar]], a gibberish-speaking character created due to [[homsar|a poorly written email to Strong Bad]].

Another popular feature on the website is Strong Bad's crudely drawn comic series ''[[Teen Girl Squad]]''. The comic parodies four archetypical high-school clichés; in their quest to become unique and popular, they are bland and monotonous. This is evident in the girls' nondescript names: [[Cheerleader]], [[So and So]], [[What's Her Face]], and [[The Ugly One]].

Nearly every Monday, some sort of update (a short, a longer cartoon, a Strong Bad e-mail, a video game, or real-life merchandise like CDs and action figures) is added to the website.

==Background==
The series is the product of [[Matt Chapman|Matt]] and [[Mike Chapman]], who typically call themselves "[[The Brothers Chaps]]." Matt Chapman provides the voices of the male characters, while [[Missy Palmer]] (Mike's wife) does that of Marzipan. Mike Chapman provides the stilted voices for [[Powered by The Cheat|The Cheat's amateurish Flash cartoons]].

Because the Brothers Chaps run their own website, they have a creative freedom that they would not have doing a regular TV show. Though the site sells [[Store|Homestar merchandise]], it has no commercials, and a few of the cartoons parody advertising, with products like [[Fluffy Puff Marshmallows]]. The Internet has allowed them to reach a large audience that they wouldn't have access to otherwise. Originally, they developed Homestar Runner as a labor of love, and for their own amusement. It has grown large enough that merchandise sales pay for all of the costs of running the website. An article in the ''Chicago Tribune'' on July 24, 2003, reports [[Don and Harriet Chapman|the retired parents of the Brothers Chaps]] are spending a lot of time dealing with the business aspects of the website.

The website, built mostly out of [[Wikipedia:Macromedia Flash|Macromedia Flash]] animations, is filled with hidden [[Glossary#E|Easter egg]]s: if a certain area on the page is mouse-clicked at the right time, an additional cartoon or screen will appear. For example, in the Strong Bad Email "[[studying]]," viewers can view a hidden Web page about a book that Strong Bad mentions. Also, at the end of the e-mail "[[vacation]]," you can click on one of five postcards to hear what Strong Bad thinks of the particular place he has visited.

The effect can also be observed if the toon is paused while her eyes are closed.
*The amp that is behind Marzipan when she's about to play her song disappears in the next scene.
*The phrase "Cool Tapes" changes position slightly during the toon. To see this better, focus on the bottom of the "p" in "Tapes" and the lighter part of the yellow wall.
*When Homestar goes to return his cool shades to Bubs, in the second wide shot, Homestar is suddenly standing to the left of where he was in the first wide shot.
*With the Yella Shades on, the paint drips off the lens over his right eye, but the drops fall in front of the left side of the mouth.
*When Homestar is returning the Yella Shades at the concession stand, the paint suddenly stops dripping between the close-up and the wide shot.
*As he walks back from Bubs' with the bag of four grapes, Homestar's walkcycle doesn't quite fit the speed at which he is walking.
