Retrogamer39:

==Forum Link==
Sorry I don't know proper wiki syntax here, but seeing this thread: http://forum.hrwiki.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37733
made me remember that lots of articles have a "view forum thread re: this toon". I'd say this thread qualifies.
--Forum user, strongio bros. 3 // edited as anonymous -- April 2, 2014, 12:49 AM @ GMT -6
:On it, thanks for pointing it out! Next time, '''be bold''' and add it yourself! --{{User:Super Martyo Brother/sig}} 06:03, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
::I disagree, seeing as that thread is less about the toon and more about the fact that they updated. {{User:RickTommy/sig}} 02:16, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

== Length ==

Could someone who has more accurate equipment than I do put the length of the toon on the page? Thanks! [[User:Stev0|Stev0]] 18:57, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

== Desktop Themes Fun Facts ==

What would you juys say to just putting all Fun Facts related to the Desktop Themes (including the sounds, but not including the visuals during them) on the [[Homestar Runner Desktop Theme]] and [[Strong Bad Desktop Theme]] pages? I still feel like that fact about the origin of Homestar's song is a bit redundant - maybe moreso - and I'm not too keen on duplicating the "Windows startup sound" fact here either. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 07:10, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

== Subtitles ==

Because this toon is featured on the index page right now, the subtitles linked to it on the wiki are actually the subtitles for the ''normal'' index page. Will it be possible to distinguish between Index and April Fools' 2014 by the Flash file itself, so that <strike>Debra</strike> <strike>Simone</strike> the Internet can contribute some English (and then other-language) subtitles? --{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 09:27, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
:I recently added the work in progress subtitle using the toon's SWF file and it works! I'm now currently making the English subtitles for it, so expect that soon! --[[User:Anthonyjk|Anthonyjk]] 00:41, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
::Still, the page is named ''index''. That means if the Brothers Chaps move the SWF file you'll probably have to rename the page. Plus the other subtitles for ''index'' are still linked to the April Fools' page. I just have a feeling that the wiki wasn't designed to handle such a scenario (the index page being replaced with a toon for more than one day). --{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 02:42, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

== homestars eyes ==

in this toon, the shiny spots on homestars eyes move according to where he is looking. is this normal? if so, this is the first time ive noticed it, but if not, i see three possibilities:

1. it was an intentional style change, or it was done specifically to emphasize parts of the acting in this toon (though it would normally be frowned upon in animation, because the shiny spots on characters are determined by lighting and not by orientation)

2. the chaps could be rusty, having not animated the HR characters in a while

3. someone else animated this toon

thoughts? --[[Special:Contributions/162.211.35.226|162.211.35.226]] 02:25, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

:Yeah, that's normal. The same kinda thing is seen in [[business trip]], where he rolls them. {{User:That'sBupkis/sig}} 03:30, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
::I'll be honest, though. It caught me off guard to see Homestar's eyes being so expressive. At the same time I was also too excited to care about it, because of how unlikely it was that the site updated.
::As for the animation [[style]], it's the Chaps all the way. They have mastered the art of [[Georgia Tech - 26 Apr 2007|doinking]] and the fans would notice if there was actually a different animator involved. <small> So I guess Homestar mastered the art of poinking, then.</small>
::It appears that The Chaps ''were'' rusty, though, at least during W00tstock. They (and by "they", I assume just Matt) put the fez on SB's head, but when they went to add Homestar, a small triangle appeared in front of SB's face. But I digress. It's just an emphasis on the acting, Anonny. --{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 09:27, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
:::I don't even see this thing that Anonny is talking about happening in this toon. Homestar's eyes do flip horizontally to show his focus - this has always happened - but, as far as this toon is concerned, I don't otherwise see the glare in his eyes doing anything unusual. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 17:59, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
::::Yeah, you're right, it's just his eyes flipping horizontally. How often did that happen before, though? He usually just ''turns his body around'' to indicate his focus. It just feels really off-model when he turns to the audience asking if they want to see the "Two Great Guys". His eyes aren't usually flipped like that, as far as I remember. Plus, when Strong Bad says "Hit it, Homestar!", Homestar's eyes are flipped and displaced slightly. Again, it just seems really... ''wrong''.

::::...Also, didn't realize this before, when he closes his mouth during "...eeeeenduh!" he has an extra frame of mouth animation between the usual "open and not O-sound" and "closed". It happens at frame 3250.--{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 18:21, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
:::::It happened at least as early as [[A Jorb Well Done]]. Compare frame 340 of that toon to frame 825. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 18:33, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
::::::Wait. Then it ''is'' more than just eyes flipping. The little white dot is moving in April Fools 2014. Compare Homestar facing left and looking right on frame 340 of Jorb with Homestar facing left and looking right on frame 2817 of April Fools. The white dot is on the right both times, but the ''rest'' of his eyes are flipped. That's what is uncommon about it.--{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 19:31, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
:::::::Ah, I see what you're saying now; I somehow missed it before. Still, I wouldn't say it's due to them being "rusty", since we already have [[business trip|a precedent]] for that. They just wanted to make it clearer that Homestar was looking toward Strong Bad (instead of straight forward) without having him turn his head. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 01:34, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

== Five, Ten, Fif-what? ==

Upon watching for the first, fifth, tenth, etc. time and not paying close attention, I heard strong bad say "fifteen". However, after {{p|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=April_Fools%27_2014&diff=741007&oldid=741004&rcid=703712 a recent edit}} suggesting fifty which was {{p|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=April_Fools%27_2014&diff=next&oldid=741007 quickly reverted}}, I listened to it again, and it DOES sound like he's saying "fifty", especially with the slight pause beforehand. I think the point of the joke is supposed to be "number, number times two, really high number unrelated to sequence". I think it's unfortunate that they picked a number which sounds similar to the next in the sequence. I am, however, not 100% positive on this, so i've brought it to the talk page for everyone else to weigh in on. Thoughts? {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 20:41, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
:Pretty much the same thing. I listened to it twice before reverting because I wasn't sure either. I think my primary reason for reverting was that the number Strong Bad said had the accent on the second syllable. And on a subsequent listen while writing this, I'm not even sure if that's true. It could be fifty. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 21:39, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
::I actually hear it on the first syllable (which is why it's harder to identify the second... it's not as clearly enunciated). {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 21:46, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
:::What's the policy on footnotes? Would this be a good place for one? {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 22:51, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
::::Based on where I've seen them before, it seems like a perfect place to me. As for official policy, I couldn't say for sure. --{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 17:50, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

== The Compy isn't the one Strong Bad used to have... ==

It's another one he probably brought somewhere between ''Which Ween Costumes?'' and this one.
:That would be speculation. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 18:27, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
::Yes, but it's literally the only logical reason why.
:::And that is literally only your opinion, and still speculation. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 17:35, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

== The 2 Great Guys ==

So I noticed a couple of things about this "album" that might be references, and in fact are probably '''''generic''''' references, but aren't clear enough to include as fun facts.

First of all, the name "The 2 Great Guys" seems like it might be referring to [[wikipedia:3 Great Guys|3 Great Guys]], but there is no resemblance to its cover. Like Homestar and Strong Bad being household names in the context of the website, Paul Anka, Sam Cooke and Neil Sedaka were already quite famous when this album was made.

Secondly, "Compy-directional sound" has to be referring to one of the many sound advancements in vinyl records, but I can't put my finger on which one exactly. It somewhat resembles some "stereo[phonic] sound" labels, but it could also be referring to something like "high-fidelity", "quadraphonic sound" or the artificial "duophonic sound". Also, the phrase resembles "omni-directional sound", which some speakers or stereo systems have, but which has nothing to do with the record itself.

If anyone has any better information about what the references might be, add a comment below. --{{User:Purple Wrench/sig}} 12:13, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
== Toon link ==

The index.html link no longer works for me. Am I the only one with this problem, if I'm not than I think someone should change the link to the swf file, I would, but it might just be me. [[User:Retrogamer39|Retrogamer39]]

== [[Pants]] ==
First off, I'm a user here, so the addition or deletion of material on mainspace pages is kinda like my job. It's not just Loafing's. Second off, I still need to (and already have) take it to the talk page. {{User:Bluebry/sig}} 00:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
:I lied when I said I didn't want your input. [[User:Kevin G. Dannerson|Kevin G. Dannerson]] 20:57, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

:Heylo. Please do not add anything about any irony about Homsar mentioning pants to [[DNA Evidence]]. All this is covered in the [[Pants]] article. It's also debatable whether it's ironic or not. For example, I don't think it is at all. Also, that's not somethign between you and me. The wiki is edited by everybody, so Bluebry is more than welcome to edit the article. And lastly, since the contents of this wiki seem to be important to you, you [[HRWiki:Why create an account?|should really create an account]]! It'll make editing much easier for you.{{User:Loafing/sig}} 00:37, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
::Addition: Actually, there has never been speculation about whether Homsar wears pants or not.{{User:Loafing/sig}} 00:46, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
:::two years later: if i remember correctly, this^ was my whole point about the edit in question. If there is so much speculation about whether or not homestar wears pants, there should be equal speculation about whether or not homsar wears pants. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 21:09, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
::OK I made an account anyway, and yes you're right. I knew from the start that ironic was not the right word and I was hoping that someone would just change it instead of deleting the entire edit.
::<nowiki>*</nowiki>You're right that Bluebry is certainly welcome to edit the page. And I can't figure out how to do a signature. 00:50, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

:::You sign your talk page posts by with <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> (four squiggly bits){{User:Loafing/sig}} 00:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
::::I can't believe that the whole edit was erased just because one word was wrong! I decided "notable" is a better word than "ironic". would that be okay to put in the page? [[User:Kevin G. Dannerson|Kevin G. Dannerson]] 20:57, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

:::::Hi there, Kevin G. I looked at {{p|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=DNA_Evidence&diff=prev&oldid=475785 the edit}} you're talking about. In my opinion, it's not notable &mdash; Homsar's just saying his usual mostly meaningless things. But you can participate in the discussion at [[Talk:DNA Evidence#Homsar's pants]] if you like, and perhaps others will agree with you. Talk atcha later, {{User:Trey56/sig}} 21:03, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
::::::Mainly I noticed that Homsar made a somewhat legitimate (sp?) sentence. It's not like he said "you shanked my jengaship" or anything nonsensical like that. [[User:Kevin G. Dannerson|Kevin G. Dannerson]] 21:07, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

:::::::I see your point, but on the other hand, the fact that he's not wearing different pants and that it's not Easter makes it nonsensical. However, it sounds like what you're talking about is information for [[Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns]]. That page attempts to attribute ordinary meaning to Homsar's seemingly nonsensical phrases. Hope that helps... {{User:Trey56/sig}} 21:10, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
::::::::Thanks I didn't know that page existed. It's not the first time that's happened to me. [[User:Kevin G. Dannerson|Kevin G. Dannerson]] 21:12, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

:::::::::No prob; it's kind of an obscure article anyways :) {{User:Trey56/sig}} 21:16, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
::::::::::two years later: Still not sure how either of those things make it nonsensical. Homsar could have been wearing a pair of pants (not constantly) since Easter (a grand total of one month) and they are getting tight. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 21:09, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

So i'm not sure now if i really need to have a better signature. i mean, i figured something like putting an orange couch next to my orange name, by which i mean <span style="white-space: nowrap">[[Image:JustOrangeCouch.png|48px]] [[User:The Knights Who Say Ni|<FONT COLOR="#FF6E00">'''The Knight'''</FONT>]][[Special:Contributions/The Knights Who Say Ni|<FONT COLOR="#FF6E00">'''s Who '''</FONT>]][[User_talk:The Knights Who Say Ni|<FONT COLOR="#FF6E00">'''Say Ni'''</FONT>]]</span>, would just be plagiarism, so i don't want to do that, not to mention the fact that it doesn't fit. do you have any ideas that don't involve plagiarism? in short, i guess i would still like to have a unique signature, and you could maybe still make one since i can never seem to find the time (and you just wrote something on here on my oldth birthday, which i had to mention. i should have said something a few days earlier) {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 05:07, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
:just about. but thanks for that. in a perfect wiki, i would have preferred no orange around the sign, but don't worry about it. this will be just fine. and at this point, it would actually be a bit more work on my part if the background did disappear. in unrelated news, when i first put the second "eat a pony" user box, crack stuntman had a pink background that i didn't like. i said nothing. before too long, the pink background went away anyway. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 05:59, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Absolutely not - the meaning of the umlat is "this vowel is a separate syllable than the previous vowel". That's how na&iuml;ve is pronounced, but it's not how Strong Bad pronounces "naive" in lackey. In fact, it might not have been a bad idea to leave it as "knave", much as that obscures the joke. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 01:46, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
I asked pretty much the same question almost exactly a year after that {{p|l={{FULLURL:lackey|diff=717591&oldid=717571}} right here}} having not seen where you wrote that. Another thing is, knave is a noun and naïve is an adjective, so i thought it made more sense to change it for the parallel structure, despite the meaning of the word "knave". {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 02:32, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
You could try making a blanket section to cover both of them. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 16:22, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
::It turns out that another word i was going to suggest adding to the blanket section, "awesomeness", is an actual word. == Heya. ==

Heya, I just saw that this wiki is pretty much dead due to the long hiatus. The brothers Chaps are probably never going to go back to making Homestar cartoons, and even if they did, they've already lost their audience.

I'm posting this here because I just came back to this wiki after years of not even thinking about Homestar, and I see that you're one of the few people still editing the wiki. I don't know. This makes me sad and I don't really have anyone else to tell this to. --[[Special:Contributions/99.46.236.115|99.46.236.115]] 06:40, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
:Well, my talk page certainly wasn't the right place for it. I don't like when people randomly share their sadness with me. I've got enough of my own to deal with. (Did you have an account? Your user page would be a better place for it.) However, while I admit the wiki is less active than it has been in times past, it certainly isn't dead. It is still well-maintained, and it's substantially inclusive, and that's considerably more than a lot of wikis out there can say. I'm doing my part to keep it that way. As for when the Chaps will return, they have already promised a 206<u>th</u> sbemail, and based on previous brief returns from the hiatus, wiki activity will spike whenever The Brothers Chaps come out with anything else. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 23:07, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
== Edit Summaries ==

Hey there. I've noticed on a couple of occasions ([http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=coloring&diff=prev&oldid=734475 this] recent one comes to mind most clearly) that you've used the edit summary field to make comments on something about the page which is totally unrelated to the edits you've actually made. It becomes rather confusing to those who A: don't readily know what section of the page it is that you ''are'' actually referring to and B: are expecting the edit summary to reflect something they see in the changes. If the summary isn't about the changes, then a better place for it might be the talk page. You've been around for a long time, and I know it's a little weird to for an experienced user to receive this kind of message, but it's just something i've noticed and thought i should point out. Hope it helps. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 00:01, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
:The keytar edit summary was because in the same edit, I very nearly removed the Keytar reference entirely. I decided to leave it in when I finally found why it was on the page. Perhaps I should have removed it, and if it was decided that it belonged there better than either of the other places i mentioned, it could be re-added. I guess I modified the edit summary when I decided to leave it in, and didn't think about the fact that the resulting edit summary would look as irrelevant as I originally thought the fact in question did. And I openly admit that I sometimes use edit summaries in an atypical manner. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 00:32, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
== CRAP! ==

Thanks for fixing my incessant mistakes. Good thing Iv'e only done those on talk pages. As for the black hole one, Defender had posted an edit to the wording of what he wrote and so when I was about to send my comment I got the "this can't be saved cause there's been changes to the page since this copy" message. So I copied what I wrote (accidentally including a line of his comment as the select tool and generally everything on iPads are crappy, but I didn't feel like sitting down and don't have a laptop), refreshed the page, pasted it, noticed I selected too much and deleted the line that was his (obviously making a mistake in the process) before sending it. There's the story. Anyway, thank you for patrolling recent changes. {{User:Broncotroll/sig}} 13:51, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
:Heylo. Please do not add anything about any irony about Homsar mentioning pants to [[DNA Evidence]]. All this is covered in the [[Pants]] article. It's also debatable whether it's ironic or not. Probably was a multitude of things. I was also running two messengers at the time and maybe I had a poor internet connection for a split second. (Though if it needs a perfect storm to work, that's DEFINITELY not notable.) And as I said, my laptops have done crazy things. (The one before this one, once shut off Internet because it actually '''hated''' a friend's photo I saved on it. No, there was nothing wrong with it. My laptop just hated it.) :just about. but thanks for that. in a perfect wiki, i would have preferred no orange around the sign, but don't worry about it. this will be just fine. and at this point, it would actually be a bit more work on my part if the background did disappear. in unrelated news, when i first put the second "eat a pony" user box, crack stuntman had a pink background that i didn't like. i said nothing. before too long, the pink background went away anyway. {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 05:59, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
::and i had a question: i went in and found out what color that background was so i could match it for the userbox background. when i hit show preview, the userbox had converted it to a websafe color, which resulted in a slight clash. why did that happen? {{User:The Knights Who Say Ni/sig}} 06:07, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
== Umlat over naive ==

== Edit Summaries ==

After years of no updates, Homestar decides to update all the best features of the website.

'''Cast (in order of appearance):''' {{film|Homestar Runner}}, {{film|The Homestar Runner}}, {{film|Sickly Sam}}, {{film|Strong Bad}}

'''Date:''' Tuesday, April 1, 2014

'''Running time:''' 4:48

'''Page title:''' Everybody! Everybody?

==Transcript==
''{The Homestarrunner.com welcome screen is visible, but dim. On the left is "com on in", with the "e" in "come" having fallen down below the words. On the right is "watch intro"; the "a" has fallen a bit and has pushed aside some of the letters below it. Homestar Runner, though dim like the rest of the screen, appears as normal. The top-left corner of the screen is sagging slightly. Wind can be heard in the background. After a few seconds, a drop of water falls and Homestar sighs. The sagging corner falls a little over the next line, exposing some HTML behind it.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{aside, to himself}'' You got this, Homestar. This is nothin'. Just like fallin' off a web van.

''{The lights come on.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Oh, hello, Debra! ''{turns to the side}'' Simone! ''{angrily leans into the camera}'' The internet! ''{leans back}'' I am what you might call Homestar Runner. ''{beat, then throws confetti. Out of the side of his mouth:}'' Yaaaay! Over the last several years of my dot com, peoples all the time be askin' me: "Hey Homestar! How come you stopped updating&mdash;"

''{Homestar starts coughing and sputtering.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Ahem! Sorry, got some ''{a piece of crab, with a drop of blood falling from it, appears from inside his mouth}'' crab shell stuck in my throat. ''{throws it aside}'' Continuing. "How come you stopped updating the best feature on your website?" And to that I answer: "You mean how come I stopped updating the Hairstyle Runner gallery back in the year 2000?" ''{holds up the [[Hairstyle Runner]] toy}'' I don't know! Let's go update it right now, Joshy!

''{He winds up to run toward stage left.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Yup. You guessed it. ''{takes off}'' Peow!

''{Another drop of water falls after he is gone. Cut to the "Hairstyle Gallery", as noted by a banner on the top of the screen. It is a museum entryway, entirely done in the style of the older toons. There is a statue of Homestar with a leaf over his crotch and olive branches on his head, holding a tablet that reads "PLVRBVS OVRBVS". In the lower-right corner are two banners reading "SEE THE GALLERY" and "SUBMIT YOUR OWN". Homestar, in his modern appearance, walks in and looks at the statue.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Whoa-hoa-hoa! Hello there, magnificent specimen. ''{takes the leaf}'' Poink! ''{he places it over his own crotch}'' That's better. Let's get started.

''{He turns to look at a Hairstyle Runner allegedly submitted by "Cherry G.". It shows the iron shavings placed to look like eyes and a bird beak on the back of Homestar's head.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' This one from Cherry G. makes the back of my head look like some kind of bold eagle.

''{Cut back to Homestar.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{laughing}'' Huh-huh-huh-huh! He's so bold in his... in his decision making! Oh-ho! He's our national bold! Ohhh man! What fun!

''{Turns to look at one from "D. Lindo" that has "P." written on Homestar's head in the shavings.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Here's one from D. Lindo that simply has the letter&mdash;

''{Cut back to Homestar as he snickers, then breaks out laughing.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Haaa! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! It's the letter&mdash; ''{snickers again, and then turns to the side}'' Pom Pom, ya gotta see this! ''{doubles over}'' It's the letter P! Followed by a period! ''{rolls over onto his back}'' Ha ha ha ha ha! Who puts a period after the letter P?! ''{calming down}'' Ohh man, I'm gonna stand back up. ''{starts to get up}'' I'm'a stand back up right now. ''{stands up}'' Whew! I am on a roll! What else can we update? I know! Let's bring everybody's favorite old-timey cartoons&mdash;

''{Cut to the intro to Kick the Can.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' &mdash;into the modern age!

''{The Homestar Runner appears, kicking the can. He approaches Sickly Sam.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' With my patented Colorarization!

''{Colors appear from the right side of the screen with the blinking word "COLORARIZATION!" appearing. The colors are mostly pastel colors that don't fit the scene at all. Sickly Sam's legs become beefy human-looking legs covered in hair, but his main body doesn't change at all.}''

'''SICKLY SAM:''' ''{very distorted}'' Am I up with the times?

'''THE HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Sorry, Sickly Sam. You're an affront to God and man!

''{He kicks the can into Sickly Sam, and both disappear with a "PAFH!" cloud and sound effect. The Homestar Runner kicks and opens his mouth as the scene cuts back to modern-day Homestar, with the leaf in his mouth.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Oh, man, these updates are great! Let's keep going! ''{swallows the leaf}'' Ooh, how's about some new words for the old Homestar Talker?

''{The [[Homestar Talker]] appears. With different sound effects, "KITCHENETTE", "DRACONIAN", and "POINK" appear in the corners. A mouse cursor clicks the following words, and the Homestar in the Talker says them in his old voice:}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{in the Talker}'' Kitchenette. Strong Bad. Is. Making. Draconian. Marshmallow. Poink.

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Draconian marshmallow poink?! Oh, that is it!! I'm going to appear onscreen! Now.

''{The cursor clicks on "Alright".}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{in the Talker}'' All riiiiight!

''{Cut to the Hairstyle Gallery, where Strong Bad is now in front of Homestar.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Oh! Hi, Simone!

'''STRONG BAD:''' This is clearly not what they meant when they asked about updating the website's best feature!

''{Closeup on Homestar.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Uhhhh... yeah, it is. It's all the best junk from my dot com!

''{Strong Bad leans into the shot.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh yeah? Well what about...

''{Leaves and then sits down at the [[Compy 386]].}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' strongbad_eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee_windows98desktoptheme

''{He hits Enter, and a desktop theme with Strong Bad's boxing glove "SB" logo in the background and "MY COMPUTER" labeled with an icon of Strong Bad's head. Shortly thereafter, icons for "NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD" (his boxing glove), "MY DOCUMENTS" (Strong Bad in front of a stack of papers), and "TRASH BIN" (a roll of toilet paper) appear one at a time}''

'''COMPY:''' ''{in Strong Bad's original voice}'' Hello, stupid, and welcome to your crappy computer!

'''STRONG BAD:''' Whoa! Sounded good there! I had a lot more wrestling mask in my accent back then. Let's update that jank! C'mere, System Mic!

''{A small tab appears from the left side of the monitor, and a telescoping microphone appears and extends toward Strong Bad.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Windows 98 system startup sound, go!

''{A window labeled "sys.mic" appears, showing the sound wave of Strong Bad's next line.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{singing}'' Ongggg, doodle-ing! Ding ding ding ding! Welcome to Windows 98. ''{jumps up from his chair and yells:}'' WHY ARE YOU STILL USING WINDOWS 98??! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??!! STOP BUYING COMPUTERS FROM THRIFT STORES, MAN!!

''{Cut to a wide shot, showing Homestar standing nearby.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' 'Scuse me, Strong Bad. Wanna help me record a duet of my classic Win98 System Shutdown song?

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{apprehensively}'' Oh, I dunno...

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{to the camera}'' Oh, come on, folks, who wants to hear it?

''{A crowd cheers from offscreen.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' On this stage tonight, the two great guys back together!

'''STRONG BAD:''' I mean I couldn't possibly... I couldn't think to want to... and ''{unintelligible}'' ''{smiles}'' Oh, very well. Hit it, Homestar!

''{Cut to Homestar, with a mustache and goatee sloppily drawn on his face in marker, talking into the Compy's microphone.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' One, two, three, four, five...

''{Cut further back. Homestar is wearing a gray fedora and shirt, blue jeans, and now has the Compy's mic strapped to his face.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{singing off-key}'' And now the love!

''{Strong Bad's head floats by}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{singing}'' And now the love!

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' That lasts forever!

''{Strong Bad's head appears with gold teeth with "4", "E", "V", and "A" written on them.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' You know it's lasted forever!

''{Two Homestars appear.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Has cooome&mdash;

''{Strong Bad slides in on his knees.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Come down&mdash;

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' &mdash;to&mdash;

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;to&mdash;

''{Cut to Strong Bad's computer room. Homestar is dressed normally, although both he and Strong Bad have leaves over their crotches, and both characters are arm-in-invisible-arm.}''

'''BOTH:''' &mdash;its eeeeeeeeeee...

''{The screen fades out and their voices trail off, but it immediately brightens back up and they complete the word.}''

'''BOTH:''' ...eeeeeeeenduh!

''{The screen switches to the text "It's now safe to turn off your computer." After a few seconds,}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Thanks for updatin' the website with me, Strong Bad!

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Yeah, that wasn't so bad! We should do this again soon.

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Three years soon, or like five years soon?

''{The text starts to tilt.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Y'know, five, ten, fifteen, whate&mdash; whatever it takes.

''{Text reading "back", "download [[Strong Bad Desktop Theme|strong bad's windows 98 theme]]", and "download [[Homestar Runner Desktop Theme|homestar's windows 98 theme]]" appears.}''

==Easter Eggs==
* At the end, click on "safe" to see a bust of the back of Homestar's head with eyes and a beak, labeled "OUR NATIONAL BOLD".
* At the end, click on "turn off" to see an album with Homestar in his singer outfit and Strong Bad with cornrows and his "4EVA" teeth, labeled "The 2 Great Guys ON THIS STAGE TONITE", with "COMPY-DIRECTIONAL SOUND" written at the bottom.
* At the end, click on "computer" to see a scene with Homestar and Strong Bad.
:''{The text at the end of the toon is actually painted on a giant cardboard rectangle that Homestar and Strong Bad are holding up.}''
:'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' So what have you been up to, man? Haven't seen you in so long!
:'''STRONG BAD:''' Ah, you know how it is. Doin' a lot of side projects, some consulting, maybe a little freelance.... Those are words that people say when they haven't actually been doing anything, right?
:'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Yeah, yeah, cool! I've been kinda like living inside of a bag. Like a duffel bag.
:'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh! That's... great?
:'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Yeah, yeah, I know, it's&mdash; it's great! It's got, like, a zipper. And... some straps. Maybe some kind of fungus growing in it. So basically, you know, top of my game!

==Fun Facts==
<!-- NOTE TO ALL EDITORS: Please keep facts related to the Desktop Themes on their own pages, except where unique to this toon. -->

===Trivia===
*The disk in the [[floppy disk container]] reads "eden" and is most likely a reference to the 1992 point-and-click adventure game 'Amazon: Guardians of Eden'.
*The words "plurbus" and "ourbus" are not actual Latin words. However, "pluribus orbus" could be taken to mean "more deprived".
<!-- NOTE TO ALL EDITORS: Please keep facts related to the Desktop Themes on their own pages, except where unique to this toon. -->

===Remarks===
*The [[Hairstyle Runner]] hair is still clickable, and each piece shrinks slightly when highlighted, just as in Hairstyle Runner. However, clicking them does nothing, and they cannot be dragged.
*When Homestar is seen eating the leaf, the aspect ratio is the same as the updated Kick the Can.
*None of the original sound clips from [[Homestar Talker]] are used, except for "alright". This may be so all words in the sentence are the same [[Audio Quality|sound quality]].
*Despite the fact that the [[Compy 386]] was shot by [[Bubs]] in [[virus]], and then eaten by [[Strong Mad]] in [[retirement]], it appears here completely unharmed. This may be for better consistency, as the [[Compé]] appears to run on a newer operating system.
**There is also no contrast knob.
*The "back" button always leads to [[Main Page 17]].
* The clip shown during the "Colorization" was not actually in [[Kick the Can]]
<!-- NOTE TO ALL EDITORS: Please keep facts related to the Desktop Themes on their own pages, except where unique to this toon. -->

===Inside References===
*Homestar addresses [[bottom 10|Simone]] and [[Debra]] at the beginning.
*Homestar uses the phrase "[[All the time]]".
*"Peow!" and "Poink!" are examples of [[onomatopoeia]].
*Homestar previously had a leaf covering his crotch in [[fan club]].
*Cherry G., who submitted the "National Bold", is apparently [[Cherry Greg]].
*Homestar calling Strong Bad "Simone" marks an instance of [[gender confusion]].
*Strong Bad [[Strong Bad Smiling|smiles]] when agreeing to sing with Homestar.
*During the shutdown song, Homestar not only wears [[Homestar Runner's Pants|pants]], but a shirt with [[Lack of Visible Arms|arm-holes]].
*The Compy was previously shown to have a graphical user interface in [[big white face]].
*This entire toon alludes to [[The Brothers Chaps]]' [[hiatus]] from regular updates. This is the first major update on the site since [[Which Ween Costumes?]], from December 22nd, 2010. This makes it the longest hiatus in the site's history, at 3 years, 3 months, and 10 days, or 1,197 days total.
**The [[Main Pages]] still list December 22, 2010 as the "Last Updated" date, and the [[TV Time Toons Menu|Toons]] guide does not list this toon.
*Homestar claims to have been living inside of a bag. This may be a reference to his appearance at the [[TMBG Concert - 5 Mar 2010|March 5, 2010 They Might Be Giants concert]], in which he stated that he would be kept "in a Hefty bag in a storage space for a couple more months".

===Real-World References===
*[[wikipedia:Webvan|Webvan]] was an online company specializing in the purchase and delivery of groceries. They went bankrupt in 2001, and are regarded as one of the worst flops in internet history.
*"Colorarization" is a reference to [[wikipedia:film colorization|film colorization]], the practice of adding color to black-and-white films with varying degrees of success.
*The "It's now safe to turn off your computer" screen is directly lifted from the screen that most [[wikipedia:Windows 95|Windows 95]] computers would show after shutting down. A parody of this screen previously appeared in [[virus]].

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{from offscreen}'' Here's one from D. Lindo that simply has the letter&mdash;

''{Cut back to Homestar as he snickers, then breaks out laughing.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Haaa! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! It's the letter&mdash; ''{snickers again, and then turns to the side}'' Pom Pom, ya gotta see this! ''{doubles over}'' It's the letter P! Followed by a period! ''{rolls over onto his back}'' Ha ha ha ha ha! Who puts a period after the letter P?! ''{calming down}'' Ohh man, I'm gonna stand back up. ''{starts to get up}'' I'm'a stand back up right now. ''{stands up}'' Whew! I am on a roll! What else can we update? I know! Let's bring everybody's favorite old-timey cartoons&mdash;

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Has cooome&mdash;

''{Strong Bad slides in on his knees.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Come down&mdash;

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' &mdash;to&mdash;

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;to&mdash;

==Easter Eggs==
==Fun Facts==
<!-- NOTE TO ALL EDITORS: Please keep facts related to the Desktop Themes on their own pages, except where unique to this toon. -->

===Trivia===

===Remarks===
* The clip shown during the "colorization" was not actually in [[Kick the Can]]
===Inside References===
===Real-World References===
