Balding Man

Red:

__NOTOC__
[[Image:balding_man.png|thumb|right|100px|This guy needs a leg up on the pile]]
'''Balding Man''' is a short, middle-aged man dressed in a polo shirt and jeans. He uses a [[Wikipedia:comb over|comb-over]] to hide his advanced case of [[Wikipedia:baldness|male-pattern baldness]]; as such, he is a stereotyped middle-aged male. However, Balding Man's mid-life crisis seems to have ended in defeat, and he is simply resigned to his fate as a Laz-Y-Boy jockey. He has been called the "[[Nicknames#Balding Man|Husband of the Year]]", although he is depicted as being alone. So far, the only thing the Balding Man can apparently vocalize is a long, exhausted sigh, as seen at the beginning of [[Senor Mortgage]] and [[Senorial Day]]. Also, in the [[Senorial Day]] DVD commentary, [[Strong Bad]] says he wants to make a cartoon with him. In an advert in [[theme song]], it is revealed that, for some unknown reason, he wants to cut his own arm off. Because he's an idiot.

==Finances==
Balding man's financial situation is precarious; he was NOT APPROVED and has trouble buying a home or a partially eaten [[Wikipedia:pop-tart|Pop-Tart]] as seen in [[Senor Mortgage]]. Balding Man has been rescued ''twice'' from the depths of financial despair by [[Senor Cardgage|Senor Cardgage's]] talented entrepreneurship, though it is unclear if he ever achieved the "re-financin' " promised in the first ad or took advantage of Senorial Day's "vera low prices".

Visor Robot

Red:

{{about|futuristic robot}} {{for|robot from the [[Original Book]]|The Robot (storybook)}} {{for|running gag|Robots}}

[[Image:20050428 weekly sketchbook fhqwhgads robot.png|thumb|200px|left|Old Fhqwhgads robots]]
[[Image:visor robot.png|thumb|100px|"I'm gonna kick Kelso's butt!"]]

The '''Visor Robot''' is a futuristic robot that was invented by [[Strong Bad]] while making up stories at the [[Homestarloween Party]]. In [[Strong Sad]]'s version of the story, the robot had a human brain which belonged to an old man who was the father of [[The Sad Kids]]. Inside the robot's head there is a red light bulb that makes the visor light up when talking. His voice in [[Everybody to the Limit]] comes from Macintosh's Zarvox, while his voice in [[Senor Mortgage]] is derived from [[Wikipedia:Microsoft Sam|Microsoft Sam]]. In his testimonial, he claims that the mortgage company helped consolidate his "whole life into this tiny box." He has been known to shoot lasers out of his visor with a loud "VOIP".

The Visor Robot has never been unambiguously named on the website: Strong Bad referred to it as "the robot" in his story, and later [[Senor Cardgage]] called it "Valerie" (a name the robot later denied) in a commercial for [[Senor Mortgage|Senor Cardgage Mortgage]]; it also appeared with the label "[[fhqwhgads]] robot" in the [[Sketchbook 2005#SK-2005-04-28|Weekly Sketchbook]] after its brief appearance in [[Everybody to the Limit]]. In the [[Everything Else, Volume 2|DVD]] commentary for [[Homestarloween Party]], [[The Brothers Chaps]] revealed that although they never specifically named the robot, they now refer to it by the name Visor Robot because of the longtime usage of the name by this wiki.

[[Stinkoman_20X6_Enemies#Bosses|Stlunko]], a boss from the game [[Stinkoman 20X6]], bears a strong resemblance to the Visor Robot. Therefore, it is possible that Stlunko is the Robot's [[20X6]] counterpart. The Visor Robot also bears a resemblance to [[Wikipedia:Maximillian (The Black Hole)|Maximillian]], the evil robot from the movie ''[[IMDb:tt0078869|The Black Hole]]''.

:::You can resize the image in a program such as [[Wikipedia:Adobe Photoshop|Photoshop]], and/or use the size attribute when coding the image: <code><nowiki>[[Image:Image.png|150px]]</nowiki></code>. &mdash; {{User:Lapper/sig}} 15:36, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
I went the Adobe program and trimmed the image. Then, I copied it onto Microsoft Paint. It still exceeded the size recommended for the wiki, so I had to shrink it some more. &mdash;[[User:2Fast2Furious|2Fast2Furious]] 7:28 5 May 2005

My younger sister (Carolyn) discovered he [[Homestar Runner (body of work)|Homestar Runner]] website in 2003, and she was the first one in my family to find it. Then, I liked that site so much that I wanted to go on it, too. I even know all the main characters: [[Homestar Runner]], [[Strong Bad]], [[The Cheat]], [[Marzipan]], [[Strong Sad]], [[The King of Town]], [[Strong Mad]], [[The Poopsmith]], [[Pom Pom]], [[Coach Z]], [[Bubs]], and the surreal [[Homsar]]. I know many other characters, too.

Speaking of [[Senor Cardgage]], I had no idea who he was when the e-mail "[[kind of cool]]" debuted. Then, when I saw the later short "[[Senor Mortgage]]", I realized that he was the guy Strong Bad described in "kind of cool". Strong Sad clearly says, "Uh, excardon me, but none of that stuff is cool, Strong Bad. You basically described that creep Se&ntilde;or Cardgage that lived down the street from us when we were little." I didn't quite get that, though. I finally did get it after watching the short. No one really listens to Strong Sad anyway, and previously, Strong Bad referred to that character as "Creepy Comb-Over Story Strong Bad".

Anyway, my favorite character is Strong Bad. Senor Cardgage is cool, too (creepy, but cool). My favorite email is "[[death metal]]".

== About "japanese cartoon"... ==

*Hi, Jay. I wanted to make a comment about the NES endings easter egg, particularly the Metroid ending, and it didn't seem appropriate to bring it up in the cartoon discussion (plus it wouldn't make sense to anyone besides us). Since you don't have a listed e-mail, I'll bring it up here. The screen that it shows, "You Fulfiled Your Mission", et. al., either features a Samus Aran in her normal suit or, if you enter a certain code (the famed JUSTIN BAILEY ------ ------ code, for example), a suitless Samus, as it shows in this instance. VGMuseum shows both variants as an animated gif. Both variants do not show in the same ending, you either get the normal variant or the suitless variant if you put in a suitable code. It is the following screen which is then based upon time, and that screen does not feature any sort of text. When the game is completed under 3 hours, that screen also shows Samus in a red suit...whereas if Samus is suitless, she will always be seen in a green suit on the first screen.<br><br>Anyway, I just felt like mentioning it. By the time you read this, I will probably have edited the page again and I wanted to explain the reasoning behind it instead of it potentially resulting in a siutation where we are constantly changing each others' edits. Hey Jay. I was wondering if you could upload the rest of the song for the three clefs. So can you upload the rest of the song, please? Also, I think that maybe it could then be placed in the [[Crazy Go Nuts University|CGNU]] page.--{{User:H*bad/sig}} 22:53, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
:I don't think that's necessary. I was trying to illustrate a point; a point I feel has been made and I'd just as soon delete what I already have if there are no objections. Thanks [[User:198.49.180.40|198.49.180.40]] 00:20, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

: I see your comment in the themesong page. Why don't you note that what SB typed is a mis-spelling? Other transcripts do that. "Gyp" is a slur, related to Gypsies' reputation as thieves. That's why "gyp" is the correct spelling. [[User:198.49.180.40|198.49.180.40]] 00:24, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
:::Sure. But the second [http://www.answers.com/topic/gip] doesn't say anything about it (this meaning). "Gip" is obviously not considered a canonical spelling of this particular term by the American Heritage Dictionary, but variant instead. Why don't we add it to the transcript with the note about SB's variant spelling? [[User:198.49.180.40|198.49.180.40]] 00:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
:::: That first link you gave is GIP in all caps. Did you see this article [http://www.answers.com/topic/gip-1]? Variants are not misspellings, and are not really important to note. [[User:So makey outy|So makey outy]] 01:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
::: It is also questionable that "gyp" really is a slur (see the [[Wiktionary:Gyp|Wiktionary]], though as we discovered earlier today, "gip" is actually not present there for some reason.) We had this discussion earlier today. At any rate, '''Strong Bad actually types the word "gipped"''', and according to our [[HRWiki:Manual of Style|Manual of Style]], what Strong Bad types is what we type, whether misspelled, nonsensical, or contrary to what he actually says (though in that last case, we also note what he actually says.) --{{User:Jay/sig}} 00:46, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
:::: That's why I didn't put the slur under "Fun Facts" - I know lots of people would howl about it. [[User:198.49.180.40|198.49.180.40]] 00:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
::Hmm. I was under the impression that the page was not for citing usage of "style" when it's a common phrase in American English. :# If you say "Homsar is the only main character without a 20X6 counterpart", without mentioning Old-Timey, then the statement is false (Bubs, Strong Mad, Strong Sad, The King of Town, and The Poopsmith also have no 20X6 counterparts, and the counterparts of Marzipan and The Cheat have yet to actually ''do'' anything. I'd say something to them, but I'm afraid of overstepping my lack of authority. So, I decided to bring it to the attention of the sysop with the most recent edit, thereby indicating your current presence. It wasn't just "for a personal reason;" it was specifically for surgery. Are there actually other widely-known cases of talk show hosts who have done that exact thing? If there are, I will politely step down, but I wish you hadn't used sarcasm to explain your deletion; that's something I really don't like to see on this site.
: Surgery is almost universal in modern society. Am I to believe that Letterman is the only talk-show host ever that took an absence due to it? I'm aware of small-time radio talk show hosts getting temporary replacements for every reason under the sun; surely not as widely-known as Letterman, but who said it had to be a widely-known case? It's really frustrating that you're trying to get around the "This is real" message. All it does is send me more database errors. The reason I listed it under "Not on the Site" was because the Flash file itself isn't hosted at homestarrunner.com. Anyway, I'm certainly willing to accept that, for the moment, the Advertisement ''is'' "on the site", but I'm not sold on the idea that it's a Short. TBC themselves haven't categorized it, as far as I can tell. But, anyway, for what it's worth I have no problem leaving it listed where it is for now. I will, however, be keeping an eye on it to make sure we correctly document it if/when it gets categorized, or if/when it gets removed from the site. {{User:OptimisticFool/sig}} 04:44, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
''{Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad/Senor Cardgage pulls out a partly melted candy bar and starts munching. Homestar turns to him and glares.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{to Pom Pom}'' Hey, Pom Pom! This guy smells like pea soup. ''{Singing, to Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad/Senor Cardgage}'' You smell like pea soooup!

''{Cut to a small bush. We see Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad/Senor Cardgage slowly rise up from behind it.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' And then I'd always be suspiciously coming out of bushes and shrubs a lot. Like, right when you walk by.

''{Homestar walks by the bush}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' And if I see you—

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{surprised}'' Whoa!

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' I'd say some cool phrase that's almost one word and not quite another.

'''CREEPY COMB-OVER STRONG BAD (aka SENOR CARDGAGE):''' ''{to Homestar Runner}'' Oh, excardon me!

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{singing}'' Um, I don't know what that means... And you still smell like pea soooup!

''{Cut to Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad, aka Senor Cardgage, and Strong Mad standing in the field. CCOSB has dropped his glasses on the ground}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' And I'd be so cool, that even if you were a dude, I'd still call at you like you were a lady.

'''CREEPY COMB-OVER STRONG BAD (aka SENOR CARDGAGE):''' ''{To Strong Mad; one of the following lines is randomly selected:}''<br />
*I'm very sorry, ma'am, but could you help an old denominator, like me, gather his spectacles?<br />
*I'm sorry, ma'am. Would you mind helping an old wintergreen gather his spectacles?<br />
*Sorry to bother you, ma'am. Could you help an old Soderbergh gather his spectacles?

'''STRONG MAD:''' NOOOOOOOOO!

''{Strong Mad runs away. Cut to Strong Bad back in front of the computer.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' That's a pretty cool guy right there. It's good to know that if I ever let myself go and grow a couple feet...live behind a bush... I'll be sitting pretty.

''{Cut to Strong Sad standing next to Strong Bad}''

'''STRONG SAD:''' Uh, excardon me, but none of that stuff is cool, Strong Bad. You basically described that creep Señor Cardgage that lived down the street from us when we were little.

'''STRONG BAD:''' What!? You didn't think Senor ''{He pronounces it "seh-nor."}'' Cardgage was cool?

'''STRONG SAD:''' No! He was extremely sketchy and gave me nightmares.

'''STRONG BAD:''' And... What's not cool about giving you nightmares?

'''STRONG SAD:''' Oh, never mind. Go back to your creepy comb-over story.

'''STRONG BAD:''' Anyways, Jor-dan, creepy comb-over story Strong Bad is definitely a cool, cool guy. In fact, I wouldn't mind hanging out with a guy like that. Well, things certainly are looking up for the future. Me, I'm gonna go look up Senor Cardgage. ''{stops typing.}'' See where that guy ended up.

==Fun Facts==

===Trivia===
[[Image:ZAGNUT.png|thumb|A melty Zagnut bar.]]
*The label on the disk in the floppy disk container reads "[[Floppy Disk Container#nabunagas ambition|nabunaga's ambition]]".
*Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad is eating a [[Zagnut bar]].

===Remarks===

*Jordan asks what Strong Bad would be like if he, "weren't that buff, handsome, and stylish man in a wrestling mask that he is," but Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad still has the wrestling mask. This is probably because with Strong Bad, it is given that he has the wrestling mask, it might even be his actual face (as evidenced in [[some kinda robot]] and again in [[the chair]]). It is as if someone asked a normal guy, "What if you weren't that buff, handsome, and stylish man that you are."
*When Senor Cardgage is eating the melted candy bar, the candy bar doesn't get any shorter.
*Homestar remarks that Senor Cardgage smells like pea soup, despite his lack of a visible nose.

===Goofs===

*In line, both Pom Pom and Senor Cardgage have a shadow, but Homestar doesn't.
*When Strong Sad comments on Strong Bad's story, the carpet on the right is not completely shaggy; part of it is flat.
*In the Senor Cardgage Easter egg, Strong Bad's eyes are not the same size - the one on the right is significantly larger.

===Inside References===

*Strong Bad stressing the "dan" in Jor-''dan'' is yet another reference to the running gag of [[Dan]].
*This is another mention of [[Pizza]] and [[Peas]], two food-related recurring themes.
*This is the first time Strong Bad uses the word "[[Senor]]" instead of the correct Spanish word "Se&ntilde;or".
*The scene with Creepy Comb-Over Strong Bad and Strong Mad, and the Easter Egg with Senor Cardgage and Strong Bad, are cases of [[gender confusion]].

[[Image:Can_of_Peas.png|thumb|100px|"Oh, excardon me."]]
__NOTOC__
'''Senor Cardgage''' first appeared in the [[Strong Bad Email]] [[kind of cool]]. He is apparently the creepy guy that lived down the street from [[The Brothers Strong]] when they were little, whose extreme sketchiness gave [[Strong Sad]] nightmares. He now runs [[Senor Cardgage Mortgage|his own mortgage business]] as well as a [[Senorial Day|used car dealership]], in addition to having a job as an [[the movies|usher]]. He has also tried to market a lawn mower as an "[[concert#Easter Eggs|Intregway]]". His name is pronounced "[[Senor|Seh-nor]]", not "Seh-nyor", because his name is spelled with an "N" rather than an "[[Wikipedia:Ñ|Ñ]]". He is apparently [[Left Handedness#Ambidextrous Characters|ambidextrous]].

Some of his traits include:
* Suspiciously coming out of bushes and shrubs just as you walk by.
* Pronouncing words incorrectly (for example, he pronounces the word "loans", "lawns").
* Always carrying an old plastic [[Aldi Bag|Aldi grocery bag]] of mysterious contents.
* Loudly eating melty [[Zagnut Bars|chocolate bars]] while standing too close to you in lines.
* Smelling like [[Peas|pea soup]] (according to [[Homestar Runner]]).
* Speaking in phrases that are described by Strong Bad as "[[portmanteaus|almost one word and not quite another]]," such as "excardon me" and "exobably not".
* "Calling at you as if you were a lady," [[Gender Confusion|regardless of your gender]].

Strong Bad seems to look up to Senor Cardgage as sort of an idol or a father figure. He is constantly heard remarking on how cool he believes Senor Cardgage is and how he wishes to be that cool. In [[Senorial Day]], Strong Bad asks Senor to autograph his football and throw it to him. In [[alternate universe]], he says that his life is complete after going on a fishing trip with Senor Cardgage, and expresses joy at the thought of Senor adopting him. When he sees Senor as an usher in [[the movies]], he tells [[The Cheat]] that "someday [he's] going to be the one tearing tickets and telling folks that forty-twone will be on their lest."

However, none of the other characters seem to like him. In particular, Strong Sad still harbors fear against Senor Cardgage as evidenced in [[garage sale]]. Strong Mad also ran away in terror when Senor Cardgage asked him to retrieve his spectacles. And of course, Homestar seems annoyed with Senor Cardgage for standing too close to him in line while eating melty candy bars, and is put off by his odd catchphrases (as well as thinking he smells like pea soup).
[[Image:Candy product alley.png|thumb|Senor's possible residence]]
Even though he has a car dealership and his own mortgage company, his residence is unknown. It is suggested in [[Senorial Day]] and [[candy product]] that he is homeless, as he is shown in an [[alleyway]] sleeping in a sleeping bag and using his [[Wikipedia:Aldi|Aldi]] bag as a pillow, although in the email [[kind of cool]] Strong Bad implied that he lives behind a bush. Strong Sad said that Senor Cardgage lived down the street when they were little, implying he had a house at one point; however, there is no proof of this or of his current residence, if any. Although it is implied that he is poor, he offers to buy Strong Sad a can of peas at [[Strong Bad]]'s [[garage sale]] for $99, and then proceeds to walk away with it, supposedly paying, even though he is never seen to do so. A possible solution to this conflict has been shown in an Easter egg from the email [[love poems]], where it is revealed that that Senor Cardgage has written a book called ''The Homeless Romantic'': "verses from the weird shrub and alarming recipes for brunswick stew".

When Strong Bad is asked what he would be like if he was not stylish and buff in the email [[kind of cool]], he describes Senor Cardgage who is, at least to Strong Bad, "so cool, you don't even know [that he is] cool".

As shown in a commercial in [[theme song]], Senor Cardgage got fourteen degrees in the [[Crazy Go Nuts University|CGNU Online E-niversity]] during his lunch "take", including one that lets him "legally prescribe marriages in the state of Kansattica". He also runs a day care called [[Papa Cardgage's PUDDIN' PATCH]].

Senor Cardgage recently lost a Non Sequitur Championship to the equally bizarre character [[Homsar]]. As the loser of the contest, he had to complete a coherent sentence on [[The Show]] (as documented in the short [[Non-Sequitur Champion]]). He failed twice, but his third attempt ("Grape Soda Banked") was judged successful by "<s>celebrity</s> judge" Strong Sad.
