For your contributions these past few weeks, in particular your taking on both the task of adding links for things that need to be linked to and the task of transcribing Easter Eggs, I present you with this Iron cup of Brunswick Stew.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]] -- [[User:Tom|Tom]] 15:32, 19 Mar 2005 (MST)

Hi Aurora. I just thought I'd pass a bit of [[User:JoeyDay|Joey Day]] wisdom on to you about sigs. (I've been going through most the sysops slowly) Have you tried the template sig meathod? Basically it lets you shorten your code left behind, and lets you change ALL your sigs at the same time. You just put your sig code on a subpage of your userpage, (e.g. 'User:Homestar Coder/sig' or something). Then in your prefferances box, put <nowiki>{{User:Homestar Coder/sig}}</nowiki> as your signature. And that's all there is to it. After that, if you ever change your sig on your subpage, it'll change all of the ones you've put since you started it. It sure changed my life. spread the word! {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 21:47, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Why did you revert my edit regarding Marzipan's skeleton on That a Ghost? &mdash;[[User:Shawn81|Shawn81]] 13:53, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

:Because we generally omit any fun facts that come from viewing the Flash file. If we accepted everything that came from viewing the Flash file as canon, then we'd have to say that characters frequenly lose limbs and appear out of nowhere. <small><tt>[[User:Homestar Coder|<span style="color:#8B0000;">Aurora the Homestar Coder</span>]]</tt></small> 14:27, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

::Good point. Nevertheless, I think that this fun fact is important because it helps to further elucidate Marzipan's unusual anatomy. Is there an alternate location that I should mention this? &mdash;[[User:Shawn81|Shawn81]] 21:52, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

::: One thing I rarely agree with Aurora on is the treatment of .swf files. While it is true that we should not mention objects that DON'T appear outside the frame, like, say, missing limbs, objects that DO appear outside the frame but DON'T appear inside are generally noteworthy IMHO. Anyway, lemme check this out. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 21:59, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

::::Your comment on the [[That A Ghost]] page was "you can see even more of it [Marzipan's skeleton] if you view the Flash file and make the window tall and skinny". I don't think this adds anything, because there's not even a description of what you can see. I looked at it, and all that's there is a few "bones" that make the bottom of her dress, just like the ones that make up The Strong Bad's and The Homestar Runner's shoes. I don't find that very noteworthy in this case. &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 22:49, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

::: It just bothers me when we're picking apart stuff that TBC never really intended us to see (except, perhaps, for "Homestache Runner", but this toon was made far before that). Maybe they left stuff like the rest of Marzipan's skeleton out of frame because they were dissatisfied with how it looked and wouldn't want it to be considered canon. <small><tt>[[User:Homestar Coder|<span style="color:#8B0000;">Aurora the Homestar Coder</span>]]</tt></small> 22:39, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

:::: I don't think this is a question of canon. I think that when they built Marzipan's skeleton, they built the whole thing without worrying what would be in and out of frame, and then when they put the toon together, part of it just happened to be below the black. But since it's only ''barely'' cut off, I don't think the additional wording above does anything to make the article more complete. &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 22:49, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

::::: Sorry, forgot to respond. Yeah, looking at it, there's not very much that's cut off in this case and the fact stands without needing to mention the .swf. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 22:53, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

:::::: I guess you guys are right. Still, there are a few bones that you don't see inside the frame. However, they are not much, and they don't really add anything to the fact that "Marzipan's skirt has bones". &mdash;[[User:Shawn81|Shawn81]] 02:46, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
::::::I do agree that it's complicated&mdash;at least, more complicated than before. When I first thought up the design, I knew it would be. First of all, voting on a particular fact is just as easy as it's always been, maybe easier now that people don't have to strain themselves to come up with something unfunny. Making it easy to vote was important to me: you click "edit" next to the fact, you put in <tt><nowiki>#~~~</nowiki></tt>, you click save&mdash;no muss, no fuss (and the instructions on how to vote are front and center).<div style="text-indent:2em">As far as adding a new STUFF item goes, I guess there's a tradeoff between simplicity and attractiveness. I'd say it's worth it, considering how fed up so many users are with the current STUFF page. But I truly believe it won't seem as complicated once we get the hang of it. All you really have to remember are three templates: <tt><nowiki>{{checkstuffpage}}</nowiki></tt>, <tt><nowiki>{{stuffnew|...}}</nowiki></tt>, and <tt><nowiki>{{stuffmore|...}}</nowiki></tt>. Everything else is just cutting and pasting. At the very least, if somebody ''truly'' can't get it to work, all he or she needs to do it try their best, and someone will be along shortly to clean it up (like on the [[HRWiki:WikiTroll|WikiTroll]] page). &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 20:35, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)</div>
: I somehow doubt he's really leaving for good. Anyway, you'd be better off trying to make friends with people here than enemies - especially when the people you choose as enemies have the power to block you from editing! However, although it was really dumb, my computer had no issue with the BIG TEXT (which didn't appear all THAT big to me) that he kept adding to everything and, if I knew it was a problem for you guys, I would have gladly reverted it the old fashioned way (I guess my computer puts a limit on the maximum text size on IE... yes, I use IE for the time being. Oh well.) --{{User:Jay/sig}} 06:37, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

::Well, the thing with the big text was that it blocked the edit button off for people with certain configs (like mine). Reverting it wasn't very hard, but doing it repeatedly in the Sandbox was a pain because newbies might get frustrated over why they can't edit the Sandbox -- it's supposed to be a user-friendly place. I saw this in the [[Magazine Sightings|sightings]] and wondered whether you knew this person:
<blockquote>In the June 2005 issue of ''Discover'', in the article "A double-blind, random, case-controlled, clinical, and thoroughly unscientific study of MIT nerds" (page 43), a full-page picture shows an MIT student named Amanda Seybold wearing a Trogdor T-shirt.</blockquote>
::::::::Nope. I live in the other dorm mentioned in the article, Random Hall. And I know all of the Random Hall people mentioned in the article, of course. I suppose I fit right in ;) As you can see from the article, we won Mystery Hunt this year, which is so awesome. (Check out the Property of Ones puzzle on [[School Sightings]]). That's a pretty good article, and I'm pleased that it focuses so heavily on East culture. They even touch on some pretty controversial stuff. It's also nice that it focuses on Hunt rather than hacking. All the MIT articles talk about is hacking, but I'm a hunter, not a hacker ;) {{User:Homestar Coder/sig}} 00:21, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

:::::::::My eyes seem to be broken today. They're having trouble reading words that are right in front of them. (I admit I only skimmed the article.) But "Random" Hall? That seems so... I forget the technical term. Okay, I found "hack":
::::::::::''The word hack at MIT usually refers to a clever, benign, and "ethical" prank or practical joke, which is both challenging for the perpetrators and amusing to the MIT community (and sometimes even the rest of the world!). Note that this has nothing to do with computer (or phone) hacking (which we call "cracking").''
:::::::::So you're not a hacker. Are you a cracker? (I sound like Dave Chappelle.) As for this "hunting" business, I'll say I could see how to arrive at the answer once I saw the solution spelled out, but you're telling me that somebody sat down and pieced all this together? With no hints? I'm no intellectual slouch, but I doubt I would have had the patience to figure that out. As your Jeff Barrett would put it, I "can't figure out what the f&mdash; all this s&mdash; is." (And isn't ''that'' colorful language? Hey AtHC, How do people become Administrators? I've been thinking about that... -Kinsey
:I don't want to presume to speak for Aurora, but I've written at length about this very subject on [[User_talk:Balmung of Azure Sky#Welcome|this page]], if that helps. &mdash; [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 19:42, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

:::''Here is the relevant text from that page:''<small><blockquote>Becoming an admin, as they're also called, is a good goal to have, but it doesn't happen overnight. Basically, you start out at the bottom of the totem pole, and work your way up. Over time, people will begin to notice your edits; you'll want to make good ones. If you do, gradually a sense of trust will develop between you and the wiki community. In the meantime, fight [[HRWiki:WikiTroll|trolls]], add good [[stuff|fun facts]], [[Special:Recentchanges|monitor]] pages for bad edits, help out with the maintenance of the site, learn the ins and outs of the software. Undertake a worthwhile project (but ... it's best to get approval before doing so). Then, sometime in the future, the current admins will open the floor for nominations for new sysops, at which time another user can throw your name in the ring. Then, we'll all vote on you. They probably won't nominate new admins for a while, and when they do, maybe you'll be nominated, maybe not. Either way, keep on keepin' on making good edits and building up that trust. It's just that simple!</blockquote></small>

::I'm glad you posted that, It's dot com, because it's a good explanation! Definately monitor for edits, learn to recognize good and poor edits, and always be diplomatic in discussions. Undertaking worthwhile projects (with wiki-approval first) is a great way to contribute and be noticed. To all of this, I would add that you should think about why you want to become an administrator. If you want to be an administrator to have more power, that's the wrong reason. It's about responsibility, not power, and it sometimes involves doing unpleasant things. {{User:Homestar Coder/sig}} 19:46, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
:Nope. The idea was a template that can go on the talk page of an ''article'' which is going to be deleted, so people know what the conversation is about... The intention stated on "Category: To be deleted" is also valid, but I would have reworded the template more (talktobedeleted says "This article is pending deletion...). Hey Amanda. I wanted to point out that adding <nowiki>{{mprotected}}</nowiki> to an image does not protect non-sysops from editing it. You have to protect it with an admin command. Also, don't forget to unprotect [[:Image:20050818 fanstuff hsr wedding invite.PNG]]. Thanks! &mdash;[[User:BazookaJoe|BazookaJoe]] 18:33, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Thank you kindly for your unwitting munificence. Now, to more pressing matters: this morning I saw what appears to be a little monkey-thing waving madly next to your signature. Now, I don't claim any domain over monkey-related things, but I am the smoking monkey and...well, D 'n' D Greg put it best! But seriously, cool little monkey-thing. I promise I won't serreptitiously copy that and use it for my own! ^_^ &mdash; {{User:Thesmokingmonkey/sig}} 12:56, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

[[Image:bronco_t.PNG|thumb|right|220px|A bronco on the trolley]]

'''Bronco Trolleys''' is a game that challenges you to make snacks for [[Homestar Runner]]. These curious snacks are made with Triscuits, peanut butter, and an orange slice. If you win, Homestar becomes really fat; if you lose, Homestar is a very skinny athlete.

'''Page Title:''' Bronco Trolleys!!

== Instructions ==
A Bronco Trolley is Homestar Runner's favorite after-school snack. It is made by spreading peanut butter on a Triscuit, and topping it with a slice of orange. Help him make as many Bronco Trolleys as possible by clicking on the Triscuit, the peanut butter, and then the orange. Work fast; you've only got 30 seconds.

== Fun Facts ==
===Trivia===
*[[Mike Chapman]] had a dream with Broncos in it when the site started inspiring the game. He never actually ate one until later. (Source: [[l33t Interview]])

===Glitches===
[[Image:BT999.gif|thumb|right|220px|Super high score!]]
*You can cheat by pressing Tab+Enter. You can make well over a hundred Bronco Trolleys using this method.
**If you're good with this trick, try holding down the Enter key on the orange slice. If you get the timing right, your score will go through the roof and you can get over 800 Trolleys (but the third digit is not fully visible)
**If you quickly repeatedly enter on the peanut butter in order to bring up maximum oranges, then entering repeatedly on one of the oranges causes the count to go so fast that the timer apparently freezes, and you can score infinite points. After the finish if you let go, however, it shows your timer as higher than 30.
*Another simple cheat is to click on the same cracker repeatedly, causing it to duplicate.
*There is also a method for getting infinite time. When you get to the screen with the red start button, use a seek bar and drag it to the right a little. This starts the game, but with the time as zero. This way, you can play forever.

I understand they're called "the Sad Kids", however, it seemed to me on first seeing them, judging by their lethargic disposition, pale complexion, and darkened eye sockets, that they're probably anemic (due to iron deficiency). Why do you suppose they'd be anemic? A diet of marshmallows would tend to cause that! 28 August 2005
'''The Sad Kids''' (A boy and a girl) were created by [[Strong Sad]] in [[Homestarloween Party]]. They have the same voice, and don't actually say anything except confused statements, such as "Huh?", "What?", and "Weird." They often appear in commercials for Fluffy Puff [[Fluffy Puff Marshmallows|Marshmallows]] and [[Fluffy Puff Air-Puffed Sugar Delights|Air-Puffed Sugar Delights]], which strangely suggests that they live in both the present-day and the [[Old-Timey|1930s]], or have look-alikes. They dressed up as [[The King of Town]] and the [[Wikipedia:Wicked Witch of the West|Wicked Witch of the West]] for the [[Malloween Commercial]].
