==About me==

I am a thirteen-year-old boy. I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to say that.

I have been a Flash animator and programmer using Windows, but have more recently been using [[Wikipedia:Ubuntu | Ubuntu]] for C++ development and general use.

==A short history==

I discovered Homestar Runner during the summer of 2008, at a computer programming class (ha, how stereotypical of me). The first work of the brothers I watched was [[shapeshifting]]. Being myself, I did not burst into laughter, but did find the cartoon to interesting, and thought it worth my while to investigate further.

After a few weeks, I found myself constantly checking the website and the wiki. I was hooked. I discovered other students and teachers who shared my interest in Homestar Runner. I had developed a small Homestar Runner niche at my junior high school.

However, during the Great Year of Betrayal, my interest in Homestar Runner began to decline in a glacial, yet rapidly accelerating fashion. I was no longer dedicated to improving the wiki or reviewing the cartoons. A terrifying (that's an exaggeration) thought emerged in my mind: ''Was this the end of Homestar Runner?'' The few [[2010 Calendar | calendars]] and [[Xeriously Force | shorts]] provided consolation, but they did not alleviate the feeling of dread that was saturating my mind. Of course, I did not fall into a state of depression or mania, but I was quite disappointed by the dormancy of the website. I watched as the number of edits to the wiki declined.

ended spectacularly with [[A Decemberween Mackerel]]. Quickly, a feeling of euphoria rushed through my mind as the memories of Homestar Runner's antics returned.

When I signed up for an account at the Homestar Runner Wiki, my username "Fotoshop" was three years old. Now it is five.

While the phonetic source is obvious, the origin of the name, per se, is not. I formulated the username when I was in the third grade, for a Club Penguin account, as a roundabout means of bragging about my (rudimentary) skills with Photoshop. Of course, nobody who played Club Penguin knew what Photoshop was. As my devotion to Club Penguin declined, I began to use the name "Fotoshop" for other websites. Almost immediately, "Fotoshop" became my main handle. However, as I veered away from Photoshop and toward the open-source GIMP, and began to realize the utter simplicity and uncleverness of the username, "Fotoshop" began to seem less appealing and relevant. I began to despise the name.

I proceeded to experiment with other usernames when I finally settled on "Fuchsiania", the name of one of five hundred achievements in a Flash game of mine. I choose this name because ''1'') it's a portmanteau (I like those), ''2'') it's relevant, as I mentioned earlier, ''3'') it begins with the same letter as "Fotoshop", softening the transition, as I find that many people tend to associate by initials, and ''4'') it's easier to form a consistent visual identity than Fotoshop.

Now, I ask, can you please change my username on both the wiki and the forum to Fuchsiania, if you may be so kind?

When I signed up for an account at the Homestar Runner Wiki, my username "Fotoshop" was three years old. Now it is five.

While the phonetic source is obvious, the origin of the name, per se, is not. I formulated the username when I was in the third grade, for a Club Penguin account, as a roundabout means of bragging about my (rudimentary) skills with Photoshop. Of course, nobody who played Club Penguin knew what Photoshop was. As my devotion to Club Penguin declined, I began to use the name "Fotoshop" for other websites. Almost immediately, "Fotoshop" became my main handle. However, as I veered away from Photoshop and toward the open-source GIMP, and began to realize the utter simplicity and uncleverness of the username, "Fotoshop" began to seem less appealing and relevant. I began to despise the name.

I proceeded to experiment with other usernames when I finally settled on "Fuchsiania", the name of one of five hundred achievements in a Flash game of mine. I choose this name because ''1'') it's a portmanteau (I like those), ''2'') it's relevant, as I mentioned earlier, ''3'') it begins with the same letter as "Fotoshop", softening the transition, as I find that many people tend to associate by initials, and ''4'') it's easier to form a consistent visual identity than Fotoshop.

Now, I ask, can you please change my username on both the wiki and the forum to Fuchsiania, if you may be so kind?

:No, it worked fine. You probably just needed to clear your cache or something. However, this wasn't a good idea. While it is true that the other character images have white backgrounds, the one you reverted to was of terrible quality, with choppy borders. If you look at the image's history, that's why it was reverted to the non-white background in the first place. Better to keep the non-white background and a high-quality image than a low-quality white background one. If we needed a white background, it needed to be completely redone to be of proper quality. After who knows how long, we finally get a toon! This truly is a D-Ween Mackerel!
On to Bweeze-Ness. Here are some things I have noticed.
*On the Main Page it says "New Holiday Toon", and when hovered over it says "For real!"
*When Cardgage is "revived" he makes the same shine and noise as when "Eh, Steve!'s mouth exploded the universe" in Cactus Coffee and the No Tell Hotel"
*Non specific mouthwash and the guy who says I'm going to need you to sign this makes fun of people being sued for using product names.
*Marzipan and Homestar both sung a modified version of O, Decemberween.
*Strong Sad being locked in the tub is a reference to other D-Ween toons.
*This toon constantly references Cardgage's death. And hints at Homsar's
*When Marzipan and Homestar are walking at the beginning, Homestar has footsteps and Marzi is leaving a solid trail, again hinting she is just a mass in a dress shape

If you watch the bush closely, ''something'' red is behind it as he's rising up, but the moment he stops, it disappears. I figured it's his left hand/glove. ==About me==

I am a thirteen-year-old boy. I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to say that.

I have been a Flash animator and programmer using Windows, but have more recently been using [[Wikipedia:Ubuntu | Ubuntu]] for C++ development and general use.

==A short history==

I discovered Homestar Runner during the summer of 2008, at a computer programming class (ha, how stereotypical of me). The first work of the brothers I watched was [[shapeshifting]]. Being myself, I did not burst into laughter, but did find the cartoon to interesting, and thought it worth my while to investigate further.

After a few weeks, I found myself constantly checking the website and the wiki. I was hooked. I discovered other students and teachers who shared my interest in Homestar Runner. I had developed a small Homestar Runner niche at my junior high school.

However, during the Great Year of Betrayal, my interest in Homestar Runner began to decline in a glacial, yet rapidly accelerating fashion. I was no longer dedicated to improving the wiki or reviewing the cartoons. A terrifying (that's an exaggeration) thought emerged in my mind: ''Was this the end of Homestar Runner?'' The few [[2010 Calendar | calendars]] and [[Xeriously Force | shorts]] provided consolation, but they did not alleviate the feeling of dread that was saturating my mind. Of course, I did not fall into a state of depression or mania, but I was quite disappointed by the dormancy of the website. I watched as the number of edits to the wiki declined.

Finally, the hiatus ended spectacularly with [[A Decemberween Mackerel]]. Quickly, a feeling of euphoria rushed through my mind as the memories of Homestar Runner's antics returned.

:Maybe the pivot point is his elbow, and his upper arm is pointing straight down. The bentness of the visible part of the arm, instead of being an elbow, could possibly be a result of bending the wrist. But still, I think that this argument is a bit much. It's probably just his shoulder bending. Sure, it's inconsistent with its beginning position, but cartoons are full of physical inconsistencies for ''ease of animation''. While I've been working on the table heads, as well as the whitespace, on the archive pages for the [[Sketchbook]] and [[Weekly Fanstuff]], I've thought about turning these pages into a bunch of templates! I was thinking we could make a template for the:
*Top of each archive page, so that they wouldn't need to be updated one by one (if we ever need to).
*Table heads, so that they wouldn't need to be updated one by one.
*Items in the table, so that there's less to type compared to our conventional method.

As I got ready to watch it, it told me the video was removed, and now, there is no evidence of it ever existing, except for me as a witness. Well, since my test worked, would it be wise to use Animated PNGs in the future? They may be big in size, but they retain the 32-bit color scheme and partial color transparency as some of you may saw with my RyukiAnim.png file. Please start a forum topic for future discussion though, as this can get long. :I think this decision shouldn't be made right now. As I said, APNG/MNG isn't as much of a universally supported format as GIF. I say we wait until one of these formats begin to see better support in operating systems/web browsers. I'd like to bring up [[HRWiki:Main Page Talk Archive 31#SVGs|this discussion]] again. In reply to [[User:Phlip|Phlip]], getting something from Flash to SVG may not be as hard as you'd think. From what I've heard about the Mac-only Flash decompiler [http://www.futurecandy.net/ Gordon], any symbol can be exported to PDF. From there, that PDF can be put into Inkscape, which would create an exact copy of said symbol. For an entire scene, I suppose this could work as well, except making sure the viewport (right term?) matches the original could be a hassle. So, it can be done just for US$60 and a Mac! I just wanted to pop on and mention my dislike of mentions within articles of the contributions used by TBC and attributing them to users who sent them in. First, if it was not a wiki user it would not be notable. Therefore it should not be notable if it is. Second, they are commenting on fan items but we are not documenting the fans, we are documenting TBC.

Finally, if you want your 15 minutes of fame, sending a pic in to TBC to be immortalized on this wiki, that's not really playing by the rules. Going out on a limb here, but how many contributors sent in a pic hoping that TBC would feature it and they could be in an article?

While I've been working on the table heads, as well as the whitespace, on the archive pages for the [[Sketchbook]] and [[Weekly Fanstuff]], I've thought about turning these pages into a bunch of templates! I was thinking we could make a template for the:

During my wandering through the internet, I went to my YouTube page, and saw that "sportsinterviewa," who uploaded the secret Strong Bad Gameways video, had uploaded a video, titled "Coach Z pukes in dude's toupee." As I got ready to watch it, it told me the video was removed, and now, there is no evidence of it ever existing, except for me as a witness. ::The icon would only show up in the navbar if they showed up next to links for you normally... in your inferior obsolete browser, DG, it'd just say "watch" without an icon. The question here is whether we want a watch link that goes to a YouTube video in the navbar. Well, since my test worked, would it be wise to use Animated PNGs in the future? They may be big in size, but they retain the 32-bit color scheme and partial color transparency as some of you may saw with my RyukiAnim.png file. ::MNG has been around for 11 years, and is too complicated for everyday/average person use. APNG was made to simplify that. :I think this decision shouldn't be made right now. As I said, APNG/MNG isn't as much of a universally supported format as GIF. I say we wait until one of these formats begin to see better support in operating systems/web browsers. I'd like to bring up [[HRWiki:Main Page Talk Archive 31#SVGs|this discussion]] again. In reply to [[User:Phlip|Phlip]], getting something from Flash to SVG may not be as hard as you'd think. From what I've heard about the Mac-only Flash decompiler [http://www.futurecandy.net/ Gordon], any symbol can be exported to PDF. From there, that PDF can be put into Inkscape, which would create an exact copy of said symbol. For an entire scene, I suppose this could work as well, except making sure the viewport (right term?) matches the original could be a hassle. So, it can be done just for US$60 and a Mac! I just wanted to pop on and mention my dislike of mentions within articles of the contributions used by TBC and attributing them to users who sent them in. First, if it was not a wiki user it would not be notable. Therefore it should not be notable if it is. Second, they are commenting on fan items but we are not documenting the fans, we are documenting TBC.

Finally, if you want your 15 minutes of fame, sending a pic in to TBC to be immortalized on this wiki, that's not really playing by the rules. Going out on a limb here, but how many contributors sent in a pic hoping that TBC would feature it and they could be in an article?

I know we love to take ourselves super seriously, but when it comes down to it we're a fan-run knowledge base about an Internet cartoon. As a wiki user, it is interesting to me when other wiki users have a [[montage#Trivia|direct influence]] on the course of the body of work. While I've been working on the table heads, as well as the whitespace, on the archive pages for the [[Sketchbook]] and [[Weekly Fanstuff]], I've thought about turning these pages into a bunch of templates! I was thinking we could make a template for the:
*Top of each archive page, so that they wouldn't need to be updated one by one (if we ever need to).
*Table heads, so that they wouldn't need to be updated one by one.
*Items in the table, so that there's less to type compared to our conventional method.

During my wandering through the internet, I went to my YouTube page, and saw that "sportsinterviewa," who uploaded the secret Strong Bad Gameways video, had uploaded a video, titled "Coach Z pukes in dude's toupee." Well, since my test worked, would it be wise to use Animated PNGs in the future? They may be big in size, but they retain the 32-bit color scheme and partial color transparency as some of you may saw with my RyukiAnim.png file. :I think this decision shouldn't be made right now. As I said, APNG/MNG isn't as much of a universally supported format as GIF. I say we wait until one of these formats begin to see better support in operating systems/web browsers. From what I've heard about the Mac-only Flash decompiler [http://www.futurecandy.net/ Gordon], any symbol can be exported to PDF. From there, that PDF can be put into Inkscape, which would create an exact copy of said symbol. For an entire scene, I suppose this could work as well, except making sure the viewport (right term?) matches the original could be a hassle. So, it can be done just for US$60 and a Mac! I just wanted to pop on and mention my dislike of mentions within articles of the contributions used by TBC and attributing them to users who sent them in. First, if it was not a wiki user it would not be notable. Therefore it should not be notable if it is. Second, they are commenting on fan items but we are not documenting the fans, we are documenting TBC.

Finally, if you want your 15 minutes of fame, sending a pic in to TBC to be immortalized on this wiki, that's not really playing by the rules. Going out on a limb here, but how many contributors sent in a pic hoping that TBC would feature it and they could be in an article?

:I think it's very hard to find out, or maybe even Impossible. When we reached the 2000th article, the admins checked and found out there was a problem with the counting system, and recounted. I started to give you pointers on how to proceed and let you do most of the work yourself, but then I realized just how intricate this code would be (and how using a couple of our custom parser functions would make it a lot easier), so I just made a userbox myself. Feel free to use it. There are two numbers that control it: the smaller number is when you get up (currently set to <code>8</code> (8 a.m.)) and the larger number is when you go to sleep (currently <code>22</code> (10 p.m.)). The time zone is controlled by "<code>America/Los_Angeles</code>", which automatically accounts for daylight-saving time (anyone else who uses this code should look on [http://us.php.net/manual/en/timezones.php one of these lists] to find an appropriate time zone; anyone in the Eastern Hemisphere should change "<code>now - </code>" to "<code>now + </code>").
