==Goofus & Gallant==

I would like to include as a Real World Reference that the video is a parody of [[Wikipedia:Highlights for Children#Goofus & Gallant|Goofus & Gallant]]. Though it is named after a Highlights feature starting in 1948, it used to describe a particular structure of educational films, contrasting good behavior with bad behavior. The hygiene video is clearly a parody of that style of educational film, thus I do not feel it is TTATOT, especially if worded correctly. {{User:Wbwolf/sig}} 14:43, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

The following fact was added to STUFF, but there was no discussion here, and I couldn't find any diffs to the article where people were adding and deleting it. So, I'm guessing that whether or not this fact should stay can probably be decided on this talk page.

The arguments against this fact were that (1) Homestar's shirt is ''always'' red and white, (2) OSU are the only possible initials it would have, (3) "<math>x</math> State University" is common school name. Anything they might have used as the first word would stand a very good chance of sharing initials with ''some'' school, (4) Ohio State University is referred to most commonly as Ohio State, and (5) Ohio State's t-shirts usually have the school's logo instead of the abbreviation.

I've seen a number of the StrongBadMan comic covers on the site over the years. This one is particularly similar to the Marvel Comics covers of the mid-1990s. To wit:

#The style and font of the box with the issue number, and the price.
#The FREE in "Cheap as FREE" in the upper left has a similar height, and open lettering to the font Marvel used at that time.
#The Strong Bad face, white on black, in the lower left - which was printed in the place of the UPC symbols for issues sold directly at comic retailers. (VERY reminiscent of the style used when Spider-Man first started wearing the alien suit.

This is a bit of stretch in terms of notability, but I think that Strong Bad's complaint about getting emails from a fifth grader and where are the college girls is a reference to how homestarrunner.com's audience had trended down in terms of age. One only has to look at the Wiki to see how many users are in the 11-14 age range (and us oldsters are not as common). Just to clarify, what I was trying to say earlier was that the frames themselves were on different magnifications, i.e., Strong Bad's face was closer to the camera in the first shot than in the second, not that the screenshots were modified so that one was more zoomed out. The email was written first. The final two additions were the catchy subject line (which took longer to write than the email), and the signature. I had planned on using my real name (see above link), but remembered that Annis (pronounced ANN-ISS) is easily mispronounced as "anus" and Strong Bad liked making fun of names. I signed off using the handle I have used for years, which is a reference to PBS' Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. It was obscure enough to not be taken on Fark.com (Plastic Diver Guy there) so I ran with it. I currently play on the MSN Gaming Zone (usually poker) as PlasticDiverGuy (15 char. limit there so no spaces) and on the Neverwinter Nights server [http://www.arelith.com Arelith] as PlasticDiverGuy (also my forum name there). I used it on my WAYN profile for kicks. I haven't updated that in years. For those who are wondering where the blurb at the end about Opera's email client, I deleted that for the sake of saving space and TBC's time.

Just to clarify, what I was trying to say earlier was that the frames themselves were on different magnifications, i.e., Strong Bad's face was closer to the camera in the first shot than in the second, not that the screenshots were modified so that one was more zoomed out. The email was written first. The final two additions were the catchy subject line (which took longer to write than the email), and the signature. I had planned on using my real name (see above link), but remembered that Annis (pronounced ANN-ISS) is easily mispronounced as "anus" and Strong Bad liked making fun of names. I signed off using the handle I have used for years, which is a reference to PBS' Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. It was obscure enough to not be taken on Fark.com (Plastic Diver Guy there) so I ran with it. I currently play on the MSN Gaming Zone (usually poker) as PlasticDiverGuy (15 char. limit there so no spaces) and on the Neverwinter Nights server [http://www.arelith.com Arelith] as PlasticDiverGuy (also my forum name there). I used it on my WAYN profile for kicks. I haven't updated that in years. For those who are wondering where the blurb at the end about Opera's email client, I deleted that for the sake of saving space and TBC's time.

I mostly wanted to highlight the Indiana connection with the Chaps and the possibility that the commercials might have been an influence on the character since they did reside in Indiana for a time. They (the commercials) are now available on You Tube and this has already been the topic of some speculation.

Just to clarify, what I was trying to say earlier was that the frames themselves were on different magnifications, i.e., Strong Bad's face was closer to the camera in the first shot than in the second, not that the screenshots were modified so that one was more zoomed out. Besides, all the other changes are WAY too subtle to be notable, I think - you can hardly even see some of them. I just don't think any of these observations are worth noting in the article, and if that's not the purpose of this discussion, then why is it here instead of in the forums?
