Shouldn't the part explaning that be in Real-World References, rather than Remarks? Seems to me like it should. -- Michelle Mabelle

Bologna
We can leave the Baloney in Baloney Sammich Truck but otherwise it should be bologna
:Both are accepted spellings... Merriam-Webster lists Baloney as a variant of Bologna. 15:59, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
::Those words have undergone differentiation. Baloney is properly only "nonsense", and the meat product is bologna. — It's dot com 16:47, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::It's dot com, I don't think that's a true statement. M-W shows it as a variant of "bologna"; if you have a dictionary citation where it's noted that "baloney" doesn't mean "bologna" anymore, then provide it. Especially as they use the "baloney" spelling in the toon, and barring absence of evidence that it cannot adequately mean the meat, we should use the "baloney" spelling throughout. 19:15, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::: Touché. Sandwich was also misspelled as "sammich" so the explicit use of "baloney' was probably just word play.
:::::"Sammich" is not a documented and accepted spelling of "sandwich", however. "Baloney" is. 21:30, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::: I have personally never seen the sausage meat being spelled as anything except "bologna" in any serious context. Bubs' truck is hardly what I'd call serious. -- 21:19, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::::Because simple personal experience is limited, we have lexicographers whose job it is to determine actual usage on the broad scale. Above it is shown that Merriam Webster's lexicographic staff feels "baloney" is an accepted spelling of the meat product. Cambridge and American Heritage agree. Oxford seems to disagree, however Oxford is a primarily British dictionary which also documents US usage, so the actual US dictionaries should take precedence here. Note that I am not saying "bologna" would be wrong, but that it would be inconsistent with TBC's usage on the site, and as such would be less appropriate for the knowledge base. 21:30, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
::::::I don't think the outcome of this discussion is very important, but I will note that searching Oscar Meyer's (probably the manufacturer of the most bologna in North America) website for baloney reveals zero occurrences, and searching for bologna reveals several. My vote is to refer to it as "bologna" everywhere but "Baloney Sammich Truck". 21:43, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::::::Of course that's a branding choice on Oscar Meyer's part (the song wouldn't be so great if they had a way with b-a-l-o-n-e-y!), as "baloney" is the branding choice for Maloney's Baloney. Then there's LightLife's Foney Baloney, another clear branding choice. One would expect branding usage to be consistent, regardless of whether the word is real or not, or whether the form of the word is more, less, or equally prevalent in American English. 21:51, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
::::::::Also, I think it's strange to assume that "baloney" is TBC's preferred spelling based off of "Baloney Sammich Truck"; no one's arguing that "sandwich" should be respelled "sammich" everywhere in the article... :) 21:54, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::::::::Again, as I noted above, no one would argue that, because "sammich" is not a lexicographically-accepted word. "Baloney" is, as I think I have proven, as correct a spelling as "bologna" in American English, and to insist on using a spelling TBC did not use in this case seems a little odd to me. Compare to this: what if they did a toon about "pop" and people argued we should call it "soda" because it matches their personal experience? This is NOT a case of them making up a word or spelling out a slang term, and the line of thinking we'd use if they called it "ba-low-knee" or something else like that doesn't apply. It's my position that if they use a real spelling of a real word in canon, we should follow suit when discussing canon. 22:03, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
:::::::::::I think it's pretty much a regional spelling difference, like saying 'soda' or 'pop'. Most people, I would assume, have seen both. Since the only documented instance of the word's spelling is 'baloney', I think we should continue that spelling throughout, although add somewhere "baloney (which can also be spelled bologna)".Trelawney 22:10, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
::::::::::::If only they had misspelled "truck" — then the case would be clear! Since this isn't the case, I think Trelawney's suggestion is the best compromise, although I would change the parenthetical statement to "(more commonly spelled bologna)". And now I plan to spend no more time thinking about this molehill. 22:19, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
::::I'm not questioning the veracity of the various dictionaries you noted, nor am I suggesting that baloney isn't a variant of bologna. What I am saying is that, given their differentiation, baloney in the sense of the meat product is a needless variant (for my source and some excellent further reading, I highly recommend Garner's Modern American Usage). As for this toon, I don't have a good answer there. It clearly reads "Baloney" on the truck, which is why I have made no attempt to change the references in the transcript. Whether or not TBC were being tongue-in-cheek with the spelling is anyone's guess, but, as much as I dislike it, we should spell it consistently without a better reason not to. — It's dot com 00:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I will say that because bubs spelled Sandwich as Sammich. We should spell it sammich the whole article and i'm off! Taste of your medicine
Please discuss the issue here on the talk page and not through edits and edit summaries. -- Tom 04:08, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

:Please review my points above, in particular my 22:03, 3 July 2006 UTC post. With which part of that do you disagree? 04:15, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

::I'd just like to add that "sammich" is pronounced differently to "sandwich", so it was clear which one to transcribe. When Bubs said "I'm-tryingtosellabaloneysammich!" he clearly says "sammich", and when he says "I drove my baloney sandwich truck down to the beach" he clearly says "sandwich". Yes, I thought of that while I was transcribing - I considered using "sammich" everywhere too, but that wasn't what he was saying. With baloney/bologna, there is no such differentiation - the only difference is in the spelling, and the decision boils down to "we should use the correct term" vs "we should use the term that's still an accepted variant, but would be consistant". I think the latter is the better choice. 06:53, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

:::It was word play! Tell you what. A wiki and fourm consensus seems like what we should do, I say we vote on this to be truly fair. At next Tuesday we take the winner and post that in Weclome Back. TOYM 15:42 UTC 4 July 2006

::::I think we should just spell it however Los` Brotheren Cowboy Boots spell it. -- 22:24, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Quick question: Has anyone considered the possibility that Bubs is trying to sell nonsense sandwiches, as opposed to bologna sandwiches? That if someone actually bought a sammich from Bubs on this deserted island, they'd get a couple slices of bread, maybe with a fortune inside or something? :) It could just be one of the 99 ways he rips you off. That would be a good case for leaving it "baloney", IMHO. :) 20:17, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
:Uh... can I simply say that this whole bologna/baloney controversy began with an incorrect assumption that "baloney" is not an acceptable spelling of the meat many call "bologna"? With many respected lexicons agreeing on its acceptance, thereby setting that incorrect assumption aside, there's no purpose in formulating an excuse for the use of the spelling we are using. We're using good American English, and we have no need to fear we're being imprecise or uncivilized, or to otherwise feel bad about it.
::Well I feel guilty ;) 04:46, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Did anybody notice that Strongbad didn't move with the plane? Should we put this under goofs?
:I don't think it was a goof; I think it was an intentional choice on the part TBC. They probably thought it would look better if SB wasn't jiggling the whole time he was talking. Also, cartoons don't necessarily have to obey physics. 14:04, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

They've said before that they still use Flash 5 (or was it Flash MX, I forget). But this eppisode used alot more blurred objects then usual (in the plane, the blades of grass the camera records and the quick zoom in on h*) and bluring is a new feature added to Flash 8 (Chaps have previously used photoshop to do this). I'm working on importing the flash file into my Flash 8, I'll see if that has any clues. --John
Do we really know for a fact that "The island is used in this toon because in the DVD commentary on Strong Bad Email island, Matt said they should use the island again"? How is Narwhal Diving a reference to AKA Driver? I've looked up the lyrics for said song and there's not a single line in the song mentioning narwhals. Strong Sad's "I'm with gluten" t-shirt seems to be a reference to the "I'm with stupid" t-shirts, which I think were popular in the eighties. Might be something more to it, though.Old Timey Me 03:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! I decided to do this for 3 reasons:

# It was shorter than doing an 24 day advent calender.
# It's a great way to getting people to visit regularly.
Hey there, The Chort! I'd like to let you know some information about your Caption Contest. Although I really like the idea, you need to move it elsewhere. == Image deletion ==

The Chort, where do you intend to get the image from? I'm using background-image, which has been implemented to only use images on this server, first of all. Secondly, it's my one user image. Thirdly, I don't believe an equivalent transparent image is available.

I apologize if there's an obvious reason for marking it for deletion, I just don't see it at the moment. -- 205.222.248.72 17:31, 3 March 2006 (UTC) (Jweb Guru, no time to log in)
::Er, doesn't it take as long to say "no time to log in" and "I'll answer later" as it would to just log in and answer now? But never mind that. ;) The image should not be marked for deletion or as abandoned, because it is currently in use on his user page (although it's not linked to in the normal way, so that's where the confusion arose). — It's dot com 17:53, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

:::Edit Conflict Ok, I'm back. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about so I'll explain what I did and why I did it. Firstly, I marked :Image:276001.jpg as abandoned as it wasn't being used on your user page. Maybe I should have asked for your consent before I added that. Secondly, I tried to add a To Be Deleted tag onto :Image:Jweb Ibanez Artcore AF75.png because I thought that you had replaced it with an identical image which was held on a different server. I guess I messed up pretty good. I'm sorry for any confusion caused, including my own. I've been here for over half a year and I'm still not sure how this wiki works! == Personal images ==

It is our policy not to delete images unless we absolutely have to. Please stop telling people to mark images for deletion. It's sufficient for users with too many personal images to simply remove them from use (they should not be linked to from any page) and mark them as abandoned. Thanks one million. — It's dot com 15:22, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

STRONG BAD: Oh, the believing is hard to be doing, because that was so incredible! We met so many celebrities in midair! And the part with the narwhale {sic} was so illegal.

{Cut through static to Strong Bad, back at the coffee table}

STRONG BAD: Oh, cuh-rap! What am I, your dad? I can't believe I pulled the old "mash Stop when you think you're mashing Record and mash Record when you think you're mashing Stop" routine on myself.

MARZIPAN: But if we've all been on vacation, who's been taking care of the website?

{Homestar Runner walks in, tired, wearing a dressing gown, a nightcap and Nebulon slippers, with a cinnamon 5 o'clock shadow.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {yawns} What's up, my brothers? Let no one say the Homestar Runner don't know how to nap. What is it, like mid-May or something?

STRONG BAD: Uh, try "early July."

{Zoom in.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Aah! I slept through June!

STRONG BAD: Yup.

{Zoom in even tighter.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Aah-! -gatha Christie would never sleep through June... neither would Angela Lansbury.

STRONG BAD: Aren't they the same person?

BUBS: Yeah.

KING OF TOWN: Yep.

MARZIPAN: I think they are.

STRONG SAD: Yes, they definitely are.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Well, it's settled then. Now, what's this I hear about some of you guys sleeping through June? I'll let it slide this time, but June-sleepers will not be tolerated from this day henceforth. Now, whose turn was it to {rolls tongue} bring the doughnuts?

EVERYONE BUT HOMESTAR RUNNER: Yours!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Well, I'll let it slide this time, but dough-not rememberers will dough-not be tolerated from now on. All right, everybody, everybody. It's time to get this www-dot-show back on the road-dot-com. Now, places! Aaand...
Easter Eggs
* In Homsar's scene, click on the "Steven Inches" sign to see a "The Freewheelin' Eh, Steve" album cover. On the bottom it lists the songs Sweet Cups and Cakes by Wheelchair Man, Eh, Steve's Dream by Eh, Steve!, and Talkin' Trying to Catch a Worm Blues by Fresh Juice.
* When the King of Town first appears, click on his crown to see his "I'm with Glutton Camp" T-shirt.
* Click on the left "everybody" at the end of the toon to see what Pom Pom and The Poopsmith presumably did during their summer vacation.
:{Pom Pom and the Poopsmith are both leaning on the palm tree on the deserted island. The Poopsmith is wearing Strong Bad's Dangeresque sunglasses, and Pom Pom is wearing Homestar's. After a few moments, a thought cloud appears and reveals that Pom Pom is thinking of a baloney sandwich. Another one appears shortly afterwards and shows that the Poopsmith is too.}

Fun Facts
Explanations
*This toon refers to the real-life vacation that The Brothers Chaps took in the late spring/early summer of 2006, during which time the site went nearly seven weeks (48 days) without a major update, the longest hiatus on record. There were various minor updates during this period, but no toons.
*"Toot sweet" is a play on the French phrase "tout de suite" (which translates to "immediately" or "at once"). Both phrases are pronounced roughly the same.
*The Baloney Truck is a spoof on the Ice Cream Truck/Van, which is popular in some parts of the world.

*The Cool Tapes tour goes through East Westerburg, Beadsburg, Bead Store City, Sculpted Busheston, New Beadshop, Topiarianapolis, Beeeeeds, and Tope Gardens. Other towns on the map are Northtime, Pantsburg, Shoigut, Thuxtable, and The Slickster.
*There are trees in the topiary garden shaped as an ice-cream cone, Trogdor, a tree stump, and William Shakespeare.
*According to the sign on the side of Bubs's Baloney Sammich Truck, he's selling:
**"Gumball Surprise"– A baloney sandwich with a purple gumball on top.
**"Inside Out"– A piece of bread between two slices of baloney.
*In the DVD commentary on Strong Bad Email island, Matt said they should use the island again. In addition to this cartoon, they already reused it in disconnected.

Remarks
*Agatha Christie and Angela Lansbury are not, in fact, the same person. Christie was a crime fiction author, and Lansbury is an actress famous for playing a crime fiction author on Murder, She Wrote. Lansbury however did play Christie's fictional sleuth Miss Marple in the movie adaptation of Christie's The Mirror Crack'd.
*The spelling narwhale and Strong Bad's pronunciation of it are accepted variants; the more common spelling is narwhal.
*When we see the back of the Lappy, it has none of the connection ports from isp, but it is possible that Strong Bad's glove may be covering them.
*When Cool Tapes plays in the Topiary Garden, no amplifiers are present. Yet, when it closes up on Marzipan in the following shot, two "Marzipan" amplifiers are present behind her.

Glitches
*When Marzipan's angry expression is used, blinking causes her outline to be intruded.

Inside References
* Pantsburg is one of the places Strong Bad visited on his vacation, and one of the places (along with Northtime and Shoigut) in Limozeen's Zeenin' Across the Country tour.
* The Poopsmith is wearing what appears to be Strong Bad's Dangeresque sunglasses, and Pom Pom is wearing Dangeresque Too's sunglasses.
* In addition to the two ropes attaching the tire swings to the tree at the obstacle course, a third rope hangs from the sky and sways gently, as did the rope featured in A Folky Tale.
* The "Gumball Surprise" is another example of a concoction.
* Homestar's sleeping through June is similar to how he slept through most of Decemberween in Homestar Presents: Presents.
