I'm seeing a couple different spellings of a new word: "keyswordtar" and "key-sword-tar". Which should we use? I'm all for using compounds rather than hyphens (but that's what you'd expect for a German-speaker). What do y'all think? I noticed that the Optimus Prime reference has been removed in favor of a more broad definition (Notably, just Transformers). With all due respect, it IS Optimus' head up there, but did we not want to be that specific? Just a thought. -{{User:Houdin654jeff/sig}}

::As far as I can tell, it is the original Optimus Prime from the old show. The other Autobots had similar, but distinctly different heads, while the Decepticons had slightly more angles and "evil" looks on thier faces. Hasboro may have used the head on other characters action figures since then, and I haven't seen the newer shows enough to guarantee that it is the only Transformer ever to have used that particular head. I'm not all that familiar with the Transformers universe, though, and I suspect neither are many of the people who'll read the article. If that's Optimus Prime, then I'm Bob Hope: it looks absolutely NOTHING like Optimus Prime's head, rather it looks like just a generic Transformer. For the record, I am a huge Transformers fan, and can isolate the following differences:
# Optimus has no visible mouth; he has a faceplate. This Transformer has a mouth.
# Optimus has a large vertical grilled box that dominates his forehead. This Transformer does not.
# Optimus has a pair of antenna-rod things on the sides of his head, where his ears would be. This Transformer does not.

I am 175% positive that is not Optimus Prime, or even intended to be Optimus Prime. Considering how the Brothers Chaps approach everything, if it was supposed to be Optimus, then they would have drawn it to look exactly like him. I'm sure that if you look around, you could isolate a Tranformer that matches it, if not at least a dozen, minimum (hell, I could even ask my brother, who keeps track of that kind of thing much more than I do). Because of that, I would say that it's just supposed to be a generic Transformer.

:Well Mr. Hope, upon reviewing the pictures you provided, the painting looks even more like Optimus to me than it did before. The "mouth" you describe on this painting looks like nothing more than a dent in his faceplate, and not something that would be big enough to even be a mouth. His forehead piece may have been too complex for the Brothers Chaps to include in The Cheat's stencil, and the antenna-rod things you describe are only apparent in the action figure, and that appears to be a little stylized. In the cartoon, they look kind of small and uncool. It is possible TBC based this simple little drawing off only the cartoon, determining the horns took away from the leader of the Autobots. Or maybe the drew it like this to stimulate some debate for them to read and laugh at. Who knows? Anyway, the page doesn't state that it is absoultely Optimus, but maybe we ought to put this in the STUFF Vote section.

And Jeff, for the record, Prime's antenna-rod things were often prominant in the cartoon. It's just that a lot of times the cartoon wasn't drawn very well. Here's an example from the movie:

I looked at a lot of pictures on an image search, and decided that I don't think it's Optimus. If anyone, I'd say Starscream, but not Optimus. Hound, maybe. Ok, I had the TV on Cartoon Network waiting for Family Guy to start and "Cartoon Cartoon" was on. The clip showing had some cartoon bear with a transparant tank holding an evil brain with eyes on his head. The brain had designed some kind of super weapon . Lo and behold, it was Rad Rad Robotank! It had almost the exact same head, and tank body with two comicly large canon on either side instead of the one normal one. Am I completely insane or has anyone else seen this and if so, could it be the true source of Robotank? - crysys

Well okay, but if that's Homestar then it would seem we have to accept the following:
# Homestar owns or rents a "fancy" doublewide trailer.
# Homestar has a portrait of Strong Bad holding a skunk hanging in his doublewide.
# Homestar has a cool portrait of a unicorn on a snowmobile hanging in his doublewide.
# Homestar keeps Cold Ones in his trailer.
# Strong Bad is impressed by something Homestar owns (he speaks favorably of the trailer and both pieces of art).
# Strong Bad passes up the opportunity to comment on all this. Ordinarily, he would be outwardly upset at having to admit Homestar owns or has done something cool, and would either change his opinion about said coolness or comment that Homestar has no business owning such things. Or maybe fall into despondency.
Based on everything we know about both of these characters, it just doesn't make any sense to me. Best I can figure is that it's the real owner of the doublewide using a Homestar quote to fit the situation (which happens around my house all the time, especially when anything happens with anything that's blue). And the accent really isn't quite right at the end of the quote.

I'm happy to be proven wrong ... somebody make sense out of all the above for me, please.

(In fact I'd venture to say the ''majority'' of things we see are hypothetical!) We have the entire page [[Places Strong Bad Made Up]] as a result. This is one such place (although, as I said above, I don't think it should be added to the page). Strong Bad started hypothesizing about himself as a black velvet painting, then extended the speculation to the fact that it would hang in a double-wide; then as a nice touch we discover that the double-wide belongs to Trailer Homestar. Who carves things in walls (as opposed to [[Cool Things|painting them]]), sits around drinking cold ones, and chucks the bottles at the wall. Whenever I click the edit tab at the top of any page, it comes up with a window asking me if I want to save a file. The file is "index.php". I always click "Cancel" to be on the safe side but that means I can't edit. Strangely, it haven't got this problem before and it doesn't appear if I try to edit anonymously. Also, I can edit without getting this window if I edit a section, revert a page or start a new comment (like what I am doing now). It's only if I click on the edit tab at the top. By the way, for those who are wondering, there's already been a ''lot'' of conversation today that's been [[HRWiki:Main Page Talk Archive 11|archived]]. I don't want to rehash any of that, but I do want to seize the opportunity to get preachy as usual. This whole thing had ''me'' "seriously concerned," for a number of reasons.
#A number of people knew, or were fairly sure, that it was a joke, but were very angry anyway and talked about crying for hours, leaving forever, or doing unspecified things with machine guns. I'm concerned about these people senses of humor. In particular it was called "cruel" more than once. People spoke as though we'd called a transportation strike in NYC, instead of simply changed the appearance (not even the functionality!) of a reference website about an Internet cartoon. If losing the soft blues and reds of the HRWiki really caused you substantial pain and suffering, then maybe the wiki is a ''little'' too important in your life!
#A number of other people decided it was for real, and reacted even more violently. Now, in their defense, it's kind of understandable that a change that huge, enacted with ''no'' warning or discussion, would raise some ruckus (see the next point: ''that's why it wouldn't happen!''). But I'm concerned about this demographic, too, and their ability to handle change. What if this ''had'' been real? I was really saddened to see that so many people were ready to simply throw in the towel and walk away, or used their departure as threats. While it's safe to say that this particular change will never happen around here, Change, in general, happens. Relationships break up. Parents remarry. You get a new boss. You get in a car wreck. If you can't handle your wiki changing color, how are you going to roll with ''those'' punches?
#Finally, for both groups, a word of stern comfort. At one point, JoeyDay [http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=Talk:Main_Page&diff=next&oldid=298224 said] that the sysops had been discussing the change for a long time in [[HRWiki:Da Basement|Da Basement]], and that it had been archived by now. A lot of people did a lot of tricks with code and other techie methods of trying to prove or disprove that it was a hoax, but ''all it really took was following up on his claim.'' There was no discussion there, archived or otherwise. And that brings me to the heart of today's sermon. '''This kind of change wouldn't happen without a lot of discussion and wiki consensus.''' Remember? That's how things are done around here. We vote on stuff. We talk about it incessantly for weeks. The wiki is not "run" by sysops or admins in the sense that they randomly decide, in secret, to do something and then put it in place overnight. (Um... hehe... with the exception of this once.) ''This'' concerns me, that people would seriously think a change like that that affected everyone would be enacted without discussion, warning, input, or participation. I would hope people trust the sysops ''not'' to pull something like that, or, if they did, would stand up to them and supportively, constructively, but courageously tell them it's not right.

:The fanstuff wiki link is on the fake main page. It wasn't a separate wiki back then and so isn't up in the links at the top. Since we were trying to make our prank as close to the original as possible (while still maintaining basic functionality), we didn't include it. I have enabled the skin choice in the preferences mostly for the sake of recording our history. If someone actually plans to use the skin on an everyday basis and needs the link, I'll consider going to the trouble to add it, but for now I'm not going to worry about it. It tracks hits, sessions, downloads, bandwidth, etc. and can give you cool statistics like which keywords people are using to search for your website and which browsers visitors are using. :I don't think the number of frames in a toon is really notable. I know of at least one case where it is, and it's noted [[Not the 100th Email!!!#Remarks|in the respective article]]. I'd like to make a proposition, but that might get me in trouble, so I'll make a proposal instead.

In the [[Talk:Under Construction|talk page]] for [[Under Construction]], I mention that all the items mentioned in the "Real World References" section are cartoons and games. At the time I suggested changing it to "External References", but I now realize that's dumb. However, I think "Outside References" might not be too bad. After all, it usually follows "Inside References" in the articles, right? [[User:E.L. Cool|E.L. Cool]] said "Although the cartoons and games are not "Real World", they are published ''in'' the real world, as in the world outside of the [[Homestar Runner (Flash cartoon)|Homestar Runner]] universe." This therefore suggests that ''anything'' outside the H*R universe is "real life", which doesn't quite... um... follow logic, in my opinion. "Outside References" would be more accurate.

[[User:Joshua|Joshua]] and [[User:Lapper|Lapper]] pointed out that it would be a massive project to affect this change on all articles. I don't know how major changes like this happen on these wiki things, if there's a vote or whatever, but if it's decided that a change would be appropriate, I think it would be easy to simply ask if anyone would volunteer to start the edits, and then split the task among those who volunteered. For example, I would start doing it on all of the Strong Bad Email articles, and when I was done with that I would see what else hadn't been changed left and offer to help with those sections.

A few people above commented that they don't like the stars. I'd like to keep something there to add flair and set us apart from Wikipedia, but I'd like to find something everyone can be satisfied with. Thunderbird commented about feeling as though he is in a nursery, and now that I'm looking at them they do seem reminiscent of Kirby's Dreamland. Others commented that they don't like them cut off the way they are. I'm in the process of creating some stars that won't be cut off, and I should be able to post screenshots soon so we can reach a consensus about them. One person above suggested little h*r logos, but we've purposefully avoided using any officially trademarked logos in our design. Are there any other ideas for what could go there besides stars?
