'''Pan Pan''', an anime-style [[Wikipedia:Giant Panda|Giant Panda]], is the [[20X6]] version of [[Pom Pom]]. Pan Pan seems to be a takeoff on the obligatory anime animal mascot, though in [[Under Construction]] he behaves more or less like Pom Pom. Like the other forms of Pom Pom, he doesn't speak in English; he instead speaks in a strange boinging sound. Pan Pan falling on [[1-Up]] appears to be a running gag.

Like most other [[Characters#20X6|20X6 characters]], getting the appropriate pill in the [[Scrolling Shooter Games Menu]] will reveal Pan Pan. There, Pan Pan opens his mouth instead of boinging to talk.

In [[Stinkoman 20X6]], Pan Pan gets kidnapped by the [[Shadowy Figure]]. 1-Up tries to tell [[Stinkoman]], but Stinkoman has other plans. Eventually, 1-Up is also captured after the rescue fails.

Pan Pan is one of the few characters who has a visible nose.

== The Name ==
Pan Pan may also be a parody of [[Wikipedia:Neon Genesis Evangelion|Evangelion]]'s "Pen Pen" (or "Pen2"), a penguin with a similar coloring, name, and googly eyes. He may also be a reference to [[Wikipedia:Genma Saotome|Genma]] from the famed manga [[Wikipedia:Ranma ½|Ranma ½]].

In Japanese, panpan is an [[onomatopoeia]] for the sound of a slap. Also the Japanese for bread/bun is "pan" (pronounced like the English word "pawn"), which could connotate a bulging, plumpy, or swollen appearance.

It could also just be the first syllable of panda, repeated twice so it sounds like Pom Pom.

The '''Drive-Thru Whale''' is a [[Wikipedia:Drive-through|drive-through]] speaker that did not originally appear to be linked to a restaurant, though [[nightlife]] suggests (and [[Blubb-O's Commercial]] confirms) that it is the mascot for [[Blubb-O's]]. The speaker is very scratchy and difficult to understand. Its speech patterns range from typical drive-thru speaker phrases like "Would you like to try a combo meal?" to seemingly random phrases like "Sever your leg, please. It's the greatest day," as well as playing a short length of music while moving its flume of water up and down. The Drive-Thru Whale can move from place to place using a rocket booster mounted underneath it, which allows it to fly up into [[Outer Space]], and it can also rise up from underground. It apparently has a taste for [[Europa-pean Lobster]], or perhaps for anything that will sever its leg. The Drive-Thru Whale was originally discovered in [[The Field]], but has since been seen on the [[Sweet Puttin' Cakes]] Puttiature Golf-Golf Course and [[Behind the Fence]].

The restaurant itself remained unseen until the short, [[Blubb-O's Commercial]]. It is not clear where the restaurant is situated, since although the Drive-Thru Whale has appeared in several different places, the exterior of the restaurant has never been shown; it was clearly not in the vicinity of the Whale when the speaker appeared in [[The Field]]. This puzzled Strong Bad, causing him to refer to the "invisible restaurant" which the speaker was presumably associated with.

One of their products is the Spicy Crispy Chicken Melt, which, according to a commercial found in an Easter egg, was introduced when customers stopped buying the Crispy Chicken Melt. Other products include the Blubb-O's Classic, the Original, the Regular, the New Original, the Old Classic, all of which appear to be the exact same product. There is also the Isosceles Fish Sandwich, which apparently no one ever buys. For a limited time, the restaurant is offering the Thick 'n Nasty, which is endorsed by [[Peacey P]]. Non-burger products include the Chipotle Potato Nudules, regular Nudules, and the Attempt-At-Compete-With-National-Coffee-Chains Premium Mocha-Chip Meltshake. [[Ketchup]] packets, coffee stirrers, and grains of salt are also sold on the menu, and are even more expensive than most of its sandwiches. The restaurant boasts that all of its vegetables are hand tossed into a refreshing cascade of water and chopped in mid air. Its slogans include "Come The Heck Down" and "You guessed it... We're called Blubb-O's".

Employees include [[Homestar Runner]], who works at the counter, and [[Coach Z]], who wears a Drive-Thru Whale costume.

[[Marzipan]] does not approve of their service, and has begun a protest to "save the Blubb-O whale", but wants to know whether they use whale meat, or "regular fast food meat", so as to know how strongly to protest them.

[[Matt Chapman]], as Strong Bad, foreshadowed the connection between the Drive-Thru Whale and Blubb-O's in the [[Drive-Thru]] DVD commentary, saying that Blubb-O's would be a good name for the restaurant.

== Biography ==
'''Strong Sad''' is the youngest of [[the Brothers Strong]]. He stands somewhere between [[Strong Bad]] and [[Strong Mad]] in height, and has large, elephant-like feet he calls "[[soolnds]]" (which, in the past, poachers have apparently offered large sums of money to obtain). His body is round and two shades of grey — a lighter grey from the waist up, a darker grey from the waist down. For some reason however, [[Coach Z]] thinks he is yellow.{{ref|1}} Strong Sad's body makes the sound of a inflated rubber ball when hit — and according to Strong Sad, it is hit often. In [[One Two, One Two]], it is hit in rhythm. His head is white and has an odd lump on the top, referred to as a "disturbing soft-serve flip" by Strong Bad in [[keep cool]] (a trait shared by [[Mr. Bland]]). It is unclear whether or not he has teeth. Strong Bad claims that he does not, but Strong Sad was seen brushing his teeth in [[narrator]] and [[concert]]. He is usually very calm and soft-spoken, although he has become [[Hyperactive Strong Sad|hyperactive]] on occasion (at least once under the influence of [[Coffee|caffeine]]), and he has also temporarily (albeit ''involuntarily'') become a boisterous [[radio|radio DJ]] once or twice. The phrase "covered bridges" seems to be able to put him in some type of trance, as seen in "[[Fall Float Parade]]". He also has some sort of reaction to sunlight overexposure, causing him to become uncharacteristically happy,{{ref|2}} even if he did not enjoy it (at one point, he actually asks to be shot).

Once, Strong Sad's main defining characteristic was his chronic depression — his high levels of intelligence and creativity were almost always overshadowed by it — but lately he appears to have recovered and rarely expresses sadness. His many interests include listening, books, listening to books, calligraphy, safety, being alone, arts, crafts, and arts [[b/w]] crafts. He has outstanding penmanship, often writing poetry, which he then recites at his own "poetry slams". Strong Sad is seen using both his right and left hands to write and play the guitar, implying that he is [[Left Handedness|ambidextrous]]. He has been seen practicing [[Wikipedia:T'ai Chi Ch'üan|T'ai Chi]]. Strong Sad also enjoys playing [[board games]], and he seems to enjoy going to science-fiction and fantasy conventions, as seen in [[different town]] and [[TrogdorCon '97]]. He has an [[Strong Sad's iPod|iPod]], and he occasionally updates his [[Strong Sad's Lament|blog]] from time to time. Strong Sad's highly philosophical view on life has creeped out other characters more than once, most notably Strong Bad and [[Marzipan]]. Strong Sad may have a crush on Marzipan; he has occasionally lied to Marzipan just so he could spend time with her, as in [[Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 10.2]]. However, he might just be trying to make friends with anyone he can.

Strong Sad has a love-hate relationship with his brother Strong Bad. It appears that the two [[The Secrets That I Keep|got along quite well]] when they were younger, but nowadays, Strong Sad suffers almost constant [[Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship#Strong Bad Hurting Strong Sad|abuse]] from Strong Bad. In particular, Strong Bad has quite a list of [[Nicknames#Strong Sad|names]] he has used to insult Strong Sad. Strong Sad has also been the subject of numerous practical jokes by Strong Bad, Strong Mad, and [[The Cheat]], ranging from being drilled a new navel by [[Lil' Strong Bad]] to being used as a [[The Stunt Double|stunt double]] for the [[Dangeresque (film series)|Dangeresque]] movies, to even having [[what I want|wildebeest pheromones]] washed into his laundry. In turn, Strong Sad holds a very low opinion of his brother and considers him to be a clueless weirdo. However, evidence from "The Secrets That I Keep" suggests that even though Strong Sad insults Strong Bad, he also looks up to him and misses the days when they got along. He seems to retain some degree of brotherly love toward Strong Bad: when the Tandy 400 exploded in the email [[gimmicks]], Strong Sad sincerely asked Strong Bad if he were all right, and wrote a letter wishing him well while Strong Bad was [[Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon|incarcerated]]. However, he also stated that his brother's absence caused him to feel far happier with himself than usual, and turned Strong Bad's computer room into his tai chi space. He was also eager to help Strong Bad with his 150th email in [[Sbemail 150?!?]], and even managed to provide the background music for Strong Bad's [[Strong Bad Email Intros|email intro]] in [[alternate universe]].

Strong Sad's troubled relationship with Strong Bad seems to have affected his social interaction habits with the rest of the community of [[Free Country, USA]]. He is generally reclusive and has only a few friends — his [[Strong Sad and Homsar's Relationship |best friend]] appears to be [[Homsar]], and he plays Jenga with The Cheat on Tuesdays. Early in the site's history, [[Homestar Runner]] even counted Strong Sad as a friend, and still shows some signs of friendship towards him. He is often overlooked and ignored when he [[In Search of the Yello Dello New Version|has an idea]], and he is sometimes even [[Death#Strong Sad|believed to be dead]]. Despite all of this, he serves as a loyal officer in the [[Homestarmy]], temps at an unnamed computer company with Strong Bad and Homestar, and even has a [[Strong Sad Lookalike Contest]] held in his honor/insult each year.

Strong Sad seems to be the most rational of the characters, and often seems to react perplexedly to the others' cartoonish antics. He can often be found patiently correcting another's apparent mistakes, such as in [[TrogdorCon '97]] and [[technology]], or [[Happy T!|entirely uncomprehending]] of the nonsensical events around him. He was even featured as the sole "[[Bear Holding a Shark]] Skeptic" in [[myths & legends]].

There may be more to him than meets the eye, however. Occasionally Strong Sad has done things that are not in line with his usually calm temperament: He [[rough copy|threw snowballs]] (saved in the freezer since he was eight) at Strong Bad, being [[Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship#Strong Sad's Revenge|physically violent]], and he had a long bout of maniacal laughter when it was revealed that he was behind the whole [[DNA Evidence]] event. He also states in his blog that his resolution for the new year is to not feel so bad about wanting to hit Homestar so much, which is another example of his violent self.
