Steven Spielberg is a highly successful and popular film director and producer, having worked on numerous films and TV series since the 1970s. He has directed films like Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Jurassic Park. He is also friends with George Lucas, another famous film maker. There are several references to him on many of the Homestar Runner toons.

- Email buried — Strong Bad calls Strong Sad "Jurassic Dork", which refers to Jurassic Park, the novel by Michael Crichton and the movie adaption movie series directed by Steven Spielberg.
- Email trading cards — C.H.E.A.T. is a non-playable Videlectrix game that appears in an Easter egg, that is a parody of the Atari 2600 game E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which is based on the film directed by Steven Spielberg.
- The title screen was later revised and used in the DVD exclusive Where's the Cheat? game.
- Hallrunner — If you talk to the shark, "Quint" tells you some "keen fishing tips." Quint was a fisherman in the movie Jaws, and was eaten at the end of the movie.
