I am using the exact same computer, but with a Verizon Wireless modem instead of HughesNet, and my problems are gone. A security feature of cookies is that they will not log you in for both the non-www and www versions of the site. Most people link to the www version, but I just take out the www each time that happens (as it rarely does) and go from there.
