The style of the music and Marzipan's accent and slang remind me of 80s rock bands that featured a female vocalist, such as Siouxsie and the Banshees.
:It doesn't even sound like Marzipan's voice to me. Could it be something that someone else made, and sent to TBC, like the real marching band version of the CGNU fight song? But yeah, it's definately very Female-80s-band-esque. -- Chupaqueso 03:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
::No, if it was fan-made, I'm sure they'd tell us. Also, it'd be too conveniently timed. --DorianGray
:::Yeah, your probably right. But maybe it was someone other than Missy doing the singing? Wait, I just thought of something. ::::Have you people even listened to the clip? That is clearly Missy singing! If it isn't, may lightning strike me down right now! Only before "me", put in "people who disagree with". And how could it be fan-made? Can't you here Strong Mad and The Cheat's doley-os ? I noticed this QotW is attributed to a rather unique item, the old milkshake from under the seat, on Homestarrunner.com. But over here, it's just attributed to singers. Shouldn't this be recorded on the QotW page? Geshmalder 15:52, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
:The song doesn't actually exist (Strong Bad just made it up) so neither do the singers. As such, the hypothetical non-existent singers are represented visually as an object associated with that scene. This is only because the format of QotW on the actual site requires the image of something the quote is coming from. The wiki, however, does not, and is free to state the true sayers of the quote, annonymous "singers", without having to resort to images. The ability to present the fact that all we know about the sayers of this quote is that they're singers, is why it shouldn't be recorded on the QotW page. ==Character Heads On Main Article?==
::I think this necessitates a different discussion. Is the format of this page as good as it can be? Early on, there has been no question that the character name and comma indicated both that this was the character speaking/singing, and that it was the character head used. But with the Chumbly Wumbly Bear song, and now even more so this, we see that there is confusion. Perhaps the character head id should be in its own "character head" column. This would make it clear that that is what we are noting, and who we hear speaking the quote is not necessarily the same (and is a secondary priority on this page). In cases like the above, we can note elsewhere whether the character head accurately depicts the speaker/singer. Thoughts? 22:30, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
::::I like Qermaq's plan. Had they started with the heads from the beginning, there would have been no question. Since we'd already came up with the format before the heads though, it kinda got ignored. I think a little 20 or 30 px image on each line might be a nice touch. 07:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
::::EDIT: If we're going to integrate the head, I'd like to see a decision here before somebody goes through them all only to have somebody come up with a better format. I'm thinking split the table into pre and post character heads quote tables, and something like this:
::Actually, it's not that it plays through Flash, but to save loading times in the cartoons, Flash automatically exports them as a lower quality. They just keep the original versions on their computer. - 00:37, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Crabadonk
Voice actors often do multiple takes of a line and the best one is selected later. This is clearly what Matt had done with Bubs' line "Crabadonk". Are all three outtakes for certain? Would this be better described as multiple takes? 01:02, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
:This is like June 29, 2004's "I just hate you so much". Bubs says crabadonk twice in the e-mail. Let's not call this an outtake. Multiple takes is better. Or, we can just leave its source as plain ol' "the chair". &mdash;BazookaJoe 01:42, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
::The first two "Crabadonk"s of the QotW are outtakes. The third one matches the first time Bubs says "Crabadonk" in the email. The second time in the email is distinct to all three in the QotW. 06:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

:::I say we stay with "outtake" &mdash; it seems to have both meanings, a take that's not used because it ends with a mistake, or any take that's not used (e.g., multiple takes are recorded and only the best is uesd). No point in using different words if we don't have to, I think. 19:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
::::Wait, at least one occurence of "crabadonk" cannot be called an outtake by either definition. Therefore, since it was used, that portion of the QOTW cannot be called an outtake. "Multiple takes" communicates more clearly what they are, and I think multiple words are warranted when clarity is concerned. 01:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Define "outtake"
Well, we have more edit-warring here regarding outtake status than anything else, so let's explore the issue.

What is an outtake? It's a take that was not used in a toon, basically. It may have been a particular reading of a line (or a single word) that was rejected for a different approach. It might be a totally different line that was recorded but unused. It might be an error, or "blooper". But in each case, the outtake does not occur in the finished toon.

In the "clabadonk" case, a strong argument exists for referring to the three repeated words as "multiple takes". There's evidence that at least one of these takes were used in the finished toon. I suggested "multiple takes", but even if it's somehow agreed that these are outtakes, it should be plural, as these clearly are three successive takes.

In the most recent QOTW we have a different issue. This is a line from the toon, but some extra is apparently tacked on. I haven't taken the time to listen and compare, but if the lion's share of it is in fact the same as is used in the toon, how can we call it an outtake?

What I'd like is a bit more formal agreement on what should and should not be labeled as an outtake so these silly revert wars stop. (And, at risk of sounding like a scoolteacher, my rule of thumb is it's good to indicate in the edit summary why the edit was made, but if you or someone you agree with is reverted (or if what you reverted is added back), it's time to take it to the Talk page, lest these wars continue.) 01:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
:After another listening under the tutelage of Pom Pom's keen ears, I don't think the current QotW (18 Jan 2007) is an outtake, but there are a couple of lines in the middle of it that aren't in the toon. Namely, the underlined part here is missing: "I can't remember cereal, I can't remember TV. Is it football season yet? <u>I don't even watch football. I hate football but</u> I'll <u>play football.</u> Run you over in football. Run you down the field like a clown!" The rest of it sounds exactly like what's in the toon (although it's admittedly hard to hear under the voiceover). &mdash; It's dot com 02:38, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
::Holy crap! A revert war because of my original edit. To me, it's not an outtake. Most of the quote is in the toon. It's all good, though. You can do anything you want to it. I don't care.
:::Interesting... Some of the underlined football bit was used in the toon, but in a different place. Namely when Strong Bad ask how does Strong Sad feel, just before he say that he can't remember his legs. 17:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
That's the best solution I can think of to get rid of the "This article has more than 32 kb" thing. Bad Bad Guy 21:33, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
:::Solution: Stop using browsers that have problems with that, then. =3 In all serious, though, I don't much like the idea of splitting it either. It's mostly just a list, unlike the other two, which have pictures. Furthermore, each of those have dates. The inconsistancy of the dates here presents a problem: look how many early ones are listed as "unknown". Where would you put them? The '03 ones are very sparce, and there's only one '02. I don't really see the need for it. --DorianGray 21:40, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
::::As I said in the other place you posted this, the "This page is too long" warning is just a benchmark, a notice that you should possibly consider splitting the page. After all, if an article reached this length, then it would definitely either go into too much detail, or have several logical sections it could be broken up into (like the Peasant's Quest walkthrough, references, etc). But a list such as this one is fine as is... and being able to sort all of the quotes at once by, say, character head would be impossible if they were split by year. Personally, I think we should maybe copy over the Wikipedia version of this message ("This page is xxkb. It may be appropriate to split this article into smaller, more specific articles." without the word "WARNING") because that just seems more better. 07:36, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Mirrors behind mirrors.
I've found a mirror for "The Wicked Guitar Solo" from personal favorites. Or actually, I just dug up the old one. It still works, if you know how to get there. It's on this page, listed as "The E-mail Rokk". The funny thing is that a direct link to the file doesn't seem to work sometimes, and will just bounce you back here, or whatever page you came from. Freewebs' server most likely checks the referrer (oops, referer) and just spits it right back at you if it matches some filter of theirs (Or doesn't match, however they've got it set up). So, if someone with the know-how and power-how (or something like that) to upload it to the HRWiki mirror would do so, we'd be down to just one QotW without a mirror link! (Marzipan's "I'm the only girl"). -- LGC&amp;CS 05:01, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
::True, comparing the email itself and the file, the sound is quite different. But I'd say that in itself is not inconsistent with the older quotes mirrored on the wiki. And the files on that webpage seem to be identical with the ones mirrored here, though it's quite possible that one copied them from the other, which would be difficult to confirm at this point. I think that file is at least equally authentic as the other old QotW files we have mirrored here. Maybe it is the original, official file. Maybe it isn't, and one day someone will dig up the original file. Or maybe TBC will repost it. I suppose the hope is that someone who does have the original will notice it's missing on this page, and submit it. In any case, I consider that file to be better than none at all, and I'm glad that I found it. If it doesn't seem good enough to list officially on the page, then at least those interested can find it following the links I posted here. I just found it strange that the link was summarily removed a while back. -- LGC&amp;CS 06:12, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
