[edit] Bkmlb

minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 18:20, 9 October 2005 (UTC) Only the conributions if possible

Okay, what username would you like to change it to? -- Tom 19:41, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Can I just have the contributions from bkmlb and Bkmlb. transfered to Bkmlb? I don't care deeply but it would be nice.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 19:44, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Please see step number 1 above. Since you already created the account for Bkmlb, I'd have to delete the Bkmlb account in the database in order to move bkmlb there. I can't make any promises, but we could try it if you want. -- Tom 19:56, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Okay, try that.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 20:42, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Done. -- Tom 21:23, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks!!--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 22:09, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Mibluvr13

I'd like my contributions moved from mibluvr13 to Mibluvr13. I'm okay with deleting my current account to do this. -- Mibluvr13 20:41, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

Okay, I'll be deleting Mibluvr13 and moving mibluvr13 there now. Hang on to your hat. -- Tom 20:42, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Bwa ha ha ha! I even managed to keep the edits you've made as Mibluvr13. Okay, now, just for consistency's sake, I'm going to block User:mibluvr13 so no one will ever be able to register with that name. (I know they can't now with the lowercase thing, but maybe that will change someday. Who knows?) Thanks for being the test case. -- Tom 21:14, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! I've even got my watchlist back. W00tness! -- Mibluvr13 21:17, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Very good. And I can't block User:mibluvr13. No one will be able to register for that name for the same reason I can't block it. Works well enough, I suppose. Now don't forget the rest of the steps. -- Tom 21:20, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] GWR 2004

I made a new account before I learned about this little project. My original username was gwr2004. Any possible way to get my contributions from that account to GWR 2004? I don't care if you have to delete this account or not. GWR_Wikisig.gifGWR 2004 TalkContribs 01:09, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! Computerdude33

[edit] racerx_is_alive

Capitalization makes me sad. Well, at least capitalizing Racerx_is_Alive makes me sad. But I see there is no other option, so why not make me Racerx_is_Alive. Thanks.

"racerx_is_alive" --> "Racerx_is_Alive". Done. -- Tom 02:21, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. Maybe in MediaWiki 1.7.2 we will be able to have lowercase names again... :) --Racerx_is_alive 15:15, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Trogga

I just made a new account, Sam Goldfish. Can I keep it? Oh, and sorry for not logging in as Trogga.

Since it's possible for you to log in as Trogga, could you please so that I can confirm? Thanks. -- Tom 02:22, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
I don't understand. (trogga)
Can anybody answer? Please? (trogga)
Since it is possible for you to log in as User:Trogga, I wanted confirmation that it was actually you that made the request. Was it you? Do you still want to do it? -- Tom 20:34, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
It was me, and yes, I still want my name changed. (trogga)
"Trogga" --> "Sam Goldfish". Done. And User:Trogga has been blocked so no one can steal your old username. -- Tom 01:19, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. emosmile.gif --Sam Goldfish 17:36, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] thatkidsam

Can't log in because the first letter in daunrealist is lowercase! Can somebody please change it to Daunrealist?

"daunrealist" --> "Daunrealist". Done. -- Tom 02:19, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, Tom. You're crazy. In a good way. --daunrealist 19:12, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] hyrulian

[edit] ackicantthinkofaname

My old username was ackicantthinkofaname, with the displayed name of breadtangle, however, I would now like to switch to the new username of breadtangle. However, because of my old displayed name this isn't possible, and I can't log in to fix it because of the lowercase first letter. Could ackicantthinkofaname be changed to breadtangle, or if not possible, can you remove the displayed name?

I need you to answer two and only two questions:
  1. What was your old username? (This would be what you used to type in the "Username" field on the Special:Userlogin page.)
  2. What do you want your new username to be? (This can not have a lowercase first letter.)
Thanks. -- Tom 21:41, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
ackicantthinkofaname
Breadtangle
"Breadtangle" is already taken. Any other ideas? -- Tom 01:15, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
I think it's taken only because of my old display name, which was indeed breadtangle.
Nope, it's another different and unique user. I checked. -- Tom 01:39, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and if you'd like to check for yourself, please see this search of Special:Listusers. -- Tom 01:41, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Cwapface. Umm...fine, then can you just capitalize ackicantthinkofaname?
"ackicantthinkofaname" --> "Ackicantthinkofaname". Done. -- Tom 20:09, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] furrykef

I know he hasn't been around for a while, but he is a Sysop. And if he tries to come around and edit anything in the future, he's gonna find his username's not working very well. Is the sysopness gonna be a problem at all, and are you gonna preemptivly capitalize his name, or wait until/if he comes around looking to log in? Thunderbird 06:59, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

If you'd like to leave him a message about it, I suggest you use his Wikipedia user talk page, since (as you also noted) he isn't around here much. -- Tom 20:43, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
Go ahead. - Kef (who can't log in 'cause of the switch - see my Wikipedia talk page for verification)

[edit] Lappy 486---->Salty

Can I have my name changed to Salty? Also, when I sign with the two hyphens and four tildes, it says my name is already Salty. I don't know why. --Lappy 486 04:32, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

"Lappy 486" --> "Salty". Done. And you probably changed your sig preferences to display Salty instead of Lappy 486. -- Tom 05:47, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Aerosmth Rules

When I made this account, I accidentally spelled Aerosmith as Aerosmth. Can I have it "Aerosmith Rules" instead of "Aerosmth Rules"? This will make it easier for people to reffer to me incase they didn't notice the missing "i". Thanks for your time. Aerosmth rules 01:50, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Because you've established such a legacy for yourself as Tampo. Also, the next time you shout at me or any other person, I'm going to restrict your editing privileges indefinitely. -- Tom 22:17, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Is it because I made too many edits? Also, I won't yell at you ever again. NO!!! PLEASE... DON'T SHOOT!!! Tampo (T/C) AND SOMEONE GET THiS FREAKiN CURSOR AWAY FROM ME!!!!! 22:19, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
It is because you've established such a legacy for yourself as Tampo. -- Tom 22:21, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

No. -- Tom 22:26, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Mind if I field this one? It means that when you say "User:Tampo", most people familiar with the wiki know who you're talking about. That's your legacy. --DorianGray
Well, Rainer had a huge legacy. He was almost a bureaucrat at the fanstuff wiki. But he changed his username to Rob. That said, people thinking of him as Tampo doesn't seem like a valid reason. — Seriously (Talk) 22:35, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Almost a bureaucrat? There's no such thing. Seriously, these matters are decided on a case by case basis. You do not have the standing here to question my decision in this way. As such, please mind your own business. -- Tom 22:41, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Count X --> «Âpðçã£ýpX» or Âpðçã£ýpX

I wouldn't prefer the latter, but it's the (PEOPLE WHO CHANGE NAMES)'s decision. Count X Talk Email

I would call this a very complicaded and hard to read and pronounce name. --Dacheatbot · Communicate 22:05, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
I think it would be pronounced "Ahp-thsa-pound-ipcks", but I'm not quite sure how ã is supposed to be pronounced (it's a Portuguese letter with no equivalent phoneme in English), and the "th" of ð is supposed to be the voiced th, like in "them", which is hard to pronounce when followed by the "s" of ç. And no, I don't think this name change is going to happen – we prefer names that you can actually read, none of this neo-1337 buisness. If you ask for "ApocalypX" you have a better chance – I'm not going to say it will, as it's the admin's decision, but it's certainly more likely than your gibberish. How do you propose to type that into Special:Userlogin, anyway? phlip TC 04:17, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Most people who use a standard English-language keyboard (which includes the vast majority of HRWiki users) prefer that other users' names be easy to read and, especially, easy to type. Therefore, the best names use only letters (and, occasionally, numbers and symbols) from the standard ASCII character set. Non-Latin or Unicode-only characters are really frowned upon, and even characters in the extended Latin 1 character set can be a hassle. (We overlook it in cases like Heimstern Läufer because (1) his name actually means something and (2) it would be grammatically incorrect otherwise.) All that to say, sorry, we're not gonna change your name to that mess. — It's dot com 04:52, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Aww. It's would be pronounced "ApocalypX". Drat. Count X Talk Email 05:55, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Homestar is wicked!

Can I change mine too Homestar101 please? If it hasn't already been used. I'm from the HRWiki Fanstuff site, so it may not work.

I will be happy to make the change, but you have to request it while you're logged in. If you don't have an account on the knowledge base, then edit your fanstuff user page or talk page with something like "I want to change my name to Homestar101." — It's dot com 17:24, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the search problem here and with the one above, it appears that the system is "helpfully" automatically capitalizing the first letter for us, making it impossible to directly search for a name that begins with a lowercase character. There is no "killer vane" in the userlist on the wiki, the fanstuff, or the forum. There isn't a "Killer vane" (with a capital) either. Are you certain you registered here with that name?
