Content is content. There was dialogue and action, however minimal. I think it was a really nice way to get their feet wet before they jump back in.

I agree with It's Dot Com, who cares if it's not classified as a toon, it's still 40 second of pure Homestar Runner goodness.
Besides, I think that after today they'll put the normal intro back up and put this on the holiday menu.

But there has not been any real additions yet. Until that occurs, I will have to take a wait-and-see approach. They probably would not have put anything new up yet if it hadn't been for April Fool's.

How is what we got not a real addition? It was short, but it was definitely a real cartoon, which has now been added to New Stuff. It's new content.

Well, yes, but it is under any particular series, or is it just New Stuff? Also, we have not gotten anything yet. Maybe there's still tomorrow, though.

Have you noticed how some toons have not loaded fully? Go here: HRWiki talk:Toon loading problems.

Anyway, do you think one reason could be that it may have to do with the creators having allegedly abandoning it? I hope not, but I wouldn't put it past them not for this to happen.

The Chaps have not abandoned the site. As I said in another thread, I would have been surprised if there had been something new on Monday.

Since the end 2002, the Chaps have updated with a toon once on Thursday and then again the following Monday (not counting the Halloween teasers), and that toon was Snowglobe. You can push the number to four if you count main pages and the ad for SBCG4AP.

In short, it's extremely rare these days for them to update with a toon on Thursday and then again on Monday. Consider too that this past Sunday was Easter, and so they probably spent it with their families.

Well, yes, but still, they do try to put something up the day after Easter. Easter usually falls on a Sunday. I guess we'll have to wait until at least tomorrow or Friday, since those are the days they usually put up something for the Quote of the Week, stuff sent in from fans and Sketchbook drawings.

Here's the part about all of this that i don't get. When Jackie and Matt had their first baby, there were new updates in less than two weeks or something with the release of where's an egg. They have one more baby and now they've abandoned the site entirely. Can somebody explain this? :-(

Nah, it was clearly an April Fools joke, don't worry. I wouldn't be surprised to see that style again one day, but CERTAINLY not the rest of the toons for 2010.

The amount of extra work alone would be reason enough not to do it. Plus you'd alienate a lot of your fan base.
