What I think Naked_Lunch meant is that it's narrow-minded to only give one genre a chance while refusing to try the others, because you don't know if you'll like them.

Yes but he's doing the opposite, he hates one genre. And he has a right to not like some kinds of music. And how does he know that No toppings has never tried rap. And even though your post is not directed at him it most definately seems so.

Trust me. I tried rap. I hate it. I despise it. Its more than a pet peeve.

I'm not criticizing anyone. I hate rap as much as Toppings. I was just clarifying Naked_Lunch's position.

I don't dislike rap, i actually like some rappers, namely Snoop, Dr. Dre, Outkast, and Eminem. I really hate country. Here is an idea: Stop inbreeding, Ban Country music.

My style of music is Hard Rock and Classic Rock.

I don't like saying that I dislike a certain genre. As a musician, I feel like it would be really idiotic of me to refuse to listen to a certain kind of music. There are certain genres, such as reggae, from which I only like one or two songs ('Redemption Song,' 'Buffalo Soldiers), and certain genres, such as Hawaiian, from which I only like one or two artists (Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole), but I won't ever say that I hate any particular genre. I love rap. Snoop is my soulmate, and I think Eminem is a genius. I listen to Control Machete, which is too fast for me to understand the Spanish, but I love the energy. Country music is special to me too, since I'm such a rodeo fan. I probably wouldn't be able to name three different country artists, but I still enjoy it.

Oops, got off topic! Now for a musical pet peeve:
Six-eight time. Ugh!

I'm glad I don't have to pay for gas yet, even though I'm 16. I haven't gotten my license, because I plan to get my parents to take me where I need to be.

Lucky you. But you don't have the independence and freedom of having a car though. But not only is the cost of gas so high, but I have to get new tires and an wheel alaingment(spelling is horrible, I know) done.

I have to get my summer tires put back on (I know it seems late, but all the snow just melted last week) and it's going to cost me $35. And it'll probably take 4 hours so I don't know when I'm going to have time to do it. Grr.

4 hours, $35 dollars? You allready have them, right? It's not that hard. They are ripping you off. Just have your Boyfriend do it, it'll be a lot cheaper.

Changing a tire is one of the easiest things to learn. I mean what is so hard about this: Jack up car, take off lug nuts, take off tire, put new tire on, put lug nuts back on, tighten evenly lower car off jack. It ain't rocket science folks.

It bothers me when I see a guy with a flat tire calling Triple-A to have them come and change his tire.

And thank you MHG. You inadvertantly reminded me that I need to change my tires.

Well, she is getting ow, if not all four tires put back on, so that might make it a little harder. Sometimes you want a pro to do that, but it's gonna cost you.

I think she's having a garage do it because her boyfriend, like myself can't do any automotive stuff for crap. I'm always so scared I screwed something up

New pet peeve:

The people in my class who call across the room (but not loud enough for the class instructor to hear them) to one of their less empty-headed popular friends and ask what the answer is. They do it with no shame whatsoever, even though I'm right beside/between them, working hard to actually figure out the answers myself, and they're basically getting a mark above 0% for doing absolutely nothing, which should merit a 0%... it's like it's beneath them to try. =|

Yeah, my boyfriend is not much of a car guy. He can change a tire (and so can I, for that matter), but like Ramrod said, I'm having all 4 tires changed. It's not a 4-hour job, but I get it done at Costco and they don't take appointments, so what I usually do is drop the car off, go to work, and pick it up afterwards (my bookstore is in the same mall as Costco). It's more the money that's bugging me, especially since I have to get my oil changed at the end of the month too. Maybe mommy will lend me some money. :)

Do you have any prospects for a career (I'm playing off the fact that you said you are short on funds)? I hear that you are studying for a english teaching degree.

'Tis, true, Coolguy. 'Tis true. But because i just went back to school, I'm on the verge of completing my first year (with flying colours, I might add). So I have either 4 or 5 years of school left (depending on if I get my Master's degree, which I probably will) before I'm a teacher. By that time, there should be a demand for high school teachers in my town, so I don't see my getting a job being a problem. But that is a looong way away.

I'll be 25 in May. I took 5 years to "find myself" after high school, I guess you could say. Actually, I would've taken a year off school after I graduated, but I had a full-tuition scholarship that would expire, so I went to university in 1999, but I dropped out after a couple of months, and never earned any credits (it's a long story). So I worked full-time for 5 years, and finally decided it was time to go back. I just wasn't really ready before, I guess.

That makes you two years older than me, give or take 15 days. When's your birthday?

Yeah, my sister teaches high school and gets a lot of catcalls, etc. Or at least she used to, but she transferred to an all-girls' school this year.

Holy Crap NL, that had me rolling. I was possibly thinking that. And now I'm sad, I'm out of HS by time she's done with her degree (not that I'd move to the great white north just to get taught by MHG)

Maybe, someday, by chance you'll get tickets to a hockey game in canada. You slowly move your seat in the stands, when you hear this heavenly voice, "Excuse me...pardon me." You look up and see the Canadian Angel in all her glory, you sweat, your heart skips a beat as thoughts race through your mind Was this meant to be? You stare deep into each others eyes, and finally she says "I want you Tor, I need you in my life." You kiss and it's beautiful, angels soar above trumpeting your romantic conquest.

EDIT: I guess I've crossed the line with that one...

I spent way too much time on this post

I think you've fianally overstepped a innuendo line, you've been treading close to them for some time now. But aside from that, that was frigging hilarious.

And if I were MHG I'd be seriously creeped out now
