Does anyone here like the band Modest Mouse? Persoanlly, they are one of my favorites. I like how perfectly weird they can be whilst still making sense. I got they're new album for me birthday and I love it. I can't wait for their next album.

1. LJV is going to post here, he liked Modest Mouse before they were cool

2. If "Flote on" got you into MM then you should check out their other stuff (they've existed for a while now, I think they have a couple more albums) I personally don't listened to them but I can't stand people that go all out for a band when they only have heard their new album or their new song that happened to get on the radio, make sure you know about them first befor saying "I love MM" or "MM is my favorite band"

Sorry if I started rambeling its just that there are A LOT of posers in my town and it annoys the crap outta me when they take to a new band like they've know about them since they got a record contract.

I heard about them a while ago, supposed to be the next big thing, but a long time after I heard that, I heard Float On, and it didn't really click with me.
Dunno what it was, but wasn't my thing!

Is it Indie? Or is it something else? I think MM made its own genre

I'm not too big on the Indie bands. Too....Indie. I dunno. Float On is an okay song, but I don't really like any other songs they have.

Modest Mouse is very good. It's not my favorite style, but I respect them for their music, you know?

It's always nice to be mentioned. Thanks, Coolguy.

Just see them live. Your whole opinion of live music will be changed. You will be spoiled...their energy and technical skill are matched by their originality and awareness of themselves. Oh, and they rock, rock on.

Issac Brock wrote the music/lyrics to the album, "A thousand miles is a lot for someone with nothing to think about" when he was freakin' NINETEEN years old. This just amazes me.

They did not invent "indie," nor do they subscribe to the music genre mentality, really (IMO). They are always unmistakably Modest Mouse, but they are always changing.

"The lonsome crowded West" is the best album to drink a couple cold ones with. Sorry, poor grammar.

One of my friends' friend made fun of the way Isaac Brock talked once at a party (he has a pronounced lisp) and Isaac punched the dude in the face. I think that's cool.

I am glad that they are getting some recognition, after 6 full length albums that are all good, and countless EP's. There is that part of me that says, "I liked them better when no one heard of them. The indie mentality, I guess.

The new album is good, but it is weak compared to most of the others: Crowded West, The moon and Antarctica, etc.

Modest Mouse is an unbelievable band they did basically create their own "sub-genre" of alternative. I first started listening before "Float On" got popular after watching an episode of the Screen Savers (before it got G4-ized).

Sidenote: TSS name change. New name = Attack of the Show.
