Boo-hoo.
ROUND TEN: LITTLE DEAD RIDING HOOD
Beyond the Grave was ready to close up for the night. Nobody had stopped by for at least an hour and most of the townsfolk were sleeping. He took his money out of the register and started to walk home. It's quiet out tonight, he thought. Still, I'm probably the only person still awake...
Grave yawned as he walked out of the marketplace and turned left into Grennings Tower. Just as he was passing by it, something caught his eye - it was bright red. He turned around, expecting to see a trail of blood leading to corpse, but it wasn't a trail of anything - it was his missing red hoodie!
"Anybody out there?" Grave called out. No answer. "C'mon, you idiot, it's not funny!" he yelled. Still no answer.
Grave sighed and slowly walked over to the red hoodie. When he had reached, he noticed that something was different about it - it was all raggy and torn. There were claw marks on the front and back and what looked like teeth marks on the hood. There was mud all over the right sleeve, and the left sleeve was completely ripped off, as was the front pocket.
Suddenly, somebody called out to Grave. "Sorry about that hoodie, bro." Grave turned around to see who it was. Instead of seeing a human, he saw a wolf. This wolf was frail with gray fur. He had sharp, black eyes with an accusing look to them. "As you can see, you should stop lending your crap to me. I don't blame you if you agree."
Grave was overcome with fear. "G-get back! I'm warning you, get back!"
The wolf advanced forward. "What're you gonna do, throw the hoodie at me?" He laughed. "Face it, boy, you're screwed."
Not if I get a headstart, Grave thought. The wolf charged at him and Grave threw the hoodie at the wolf. While the wolf was set back for a few seconds, Grave sprinted as fast as he could. His head start wasn't by much, but if he could confuse the wolf while running through the cabins, he might have a chance.
Grave ran off of the street and jumped down a small hill with the wolf snarling and chasing after him. Grave reached a cabin and turned left at it, heading for the other cabins. He reached a cabin with a small flag perched atop it and went around it. He found himself into center of the cabin area. Taking a nanosecond to consider his options, he crouched down and ran down a small dirt path. He could still hear the wolf in the distance.
He found an empty cabin and loudly opened the door. He then closed it, pretending to go inside. He ran as fast as he could and as quietly as he could over to his cabin. He couldn't even hear the wolf anymore. After a few minutes, he had made it over to his cabin. He walked up to the door and clenched his hand on the doorknob.
Then he felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He looked down, only to see the tips of a claw. He felt another sharp pain and then fell down, hitting his head on the door.
"Thought you fooled me, didn't you?" The wolf taunted. "Won't be missing you anytime soon, bro."
The wolf laid the tattered red hoodie over Grave's body and then quietly walked away, not looking back once.
Beyond the Grave was killed. He was a human.
It is now a lynching round. This round ends on Tuesday, November 20th.
