Sounds like the name of a graveyard or a tomb. That would be my guess.

I think Teff's onto something.

I saw the new Harry Potter movie and I recommend it. I think it's the best Potter film yet.

Well, it would have to be holy. The Department of Mysteries has a lot of special relics of all sorts. And the Department of Mysteries seems too important to have just a one-time event there.

the Deathly Hallows is their spirit world. Harry either learns to tap into the Deathly Hallows and speak to his parents, or he ultimatley dies and lives in harmony with them in death.

Or the Department of Mysteries is the only place where the sprit world can be accessed and that is where all the spirits of people Voldemort killed are.

I like the theories about the Deathly Hallows, but I don't understand why do they show Harry and his friends with treasure coming from behind them on the cover.

Wizardry and the whole Harry potter story is just a front for the Wonka Candy Industry. Harry had been living in this sort of Truman Show type world. Everyone tuned in 24 hours a day to watch his life. After he turned old enough to vote, the show got boring so they planned a finale where they award him for a life achievement of oblivious living. Cake was served.

Well, I think that the DEathly Hallows and the cover have nothing to do with each other. At all. There's also some little gremlin thing on Harry's back if you look closer....

but I likes the American cover better.

See, the thing is that the prophecy also said that Voldemort would mark someone as his equal. Not saying Neville's not going to be important, but remember what Rowling said in the second book, "It's not our abilities that make us who we are, it's our choices." It's obvious that Harry is who the prophecy is referring to.

Apperantly the barkeeper at the Hog's Head is Aberforth, Dumbledore's brother.

wtf? I thought he'd be some sort of epic dark wizard or something.

Why do you think they're awful/idiotic?

When was the last time you read a Potter book, Magna? 1999?

I like the more recent movies better than the first two. The darker atmosphere kinda makes it finally fit in with the series because starting from book 3, the books get a lot darker.

although the fourth movie was the biggest letdown. yeah, the old guy throwing the snitch or whatever ISN'T the World Cup, Bad Director.

I was in Target today, and I saw a picture that I think is based of the cover of the seventh book. It had Harry standing next to a scary-eyes guy in a cloak, who I think it's safe to assume is Voldemort. There in a colosseum, and their putting their hands up to the sky, almost as if their using their combine force to will away something in the sky, some sort of orb, perhaps. Therefore, I think I can summarize the book as such:

Harry and Voldemort join forces in Rome to defeat the sun.

As much as I find that bizarre, that would be awesome!

However, I bet the following thing will happen in the seventh book: Snape will turn on Voldemort Darth Vader-style!

I kid. Last time I read a Potter book was a couple of weeks ago. Only recently however have I discovered the terribleness of the books.

I'll be honest. I'm not a Potter fan myself. In fact I found the two movies I was forced to watch in grade school were terrible and not worth paying my attention to. I tried getting into the books, but they bored me to death. However, I enjoyed watching Order of the Phoenix today. Dark, hints of comedy here and there, and other stuff. I decided to give the movie a chance, and I enjoyed it. And later, when I had an afternoon nap, I had a dream about going to war. But that's a different, totally pwnsome story. It's the same thing with Pokemon to me. At first I didn't like it. Now, for some reason, I do. Yeah, I onlly watch the show to make fun of it, but it's enjoyable.

The point is to give it a chance.

Well, for one, the writing. The books have a nice back-story to them, but the composition quality of the books are deplorable (I would even go to compare it with George Lucas' awful script writing!). The movies just add insult to injury, bastardizing the story with many idiotic modifications. The first two movies were okay, but the third one was just plain awful - and after that I stopped seeing the movies at all.

Ouch, comparing Rowling to Lucas in terms of writing ability? That's just harsh.

Please name some books you feel are above average in this area.

Went to go see the movie yesterday. S'alright. Found a bunch of stuff I could nitpick about (WHERE'S MAH RULE SIX POLTERGEIST), but it was good. The music was pretty good. Bellatrix Lestrange was eff'in creepy, though. Malfoy only had like four lines but that's because there was no Quidditch, I guess.

And Dudley's mouth at the bottom just hangs there.

Most of these spoilers are probably fake anyway, but after talking it over, we decided it'd still be better to keep them as mere links.

Also, it was decided that if you're going to discuss them, do them in Spoiler Vision (i.e., whited out text in a quote or code box).

This is more a precaution against people getting ticked off about them more than anything else.

A little while ago did some cakkalations and determined that a Galleon is worth approximately $7.35, a Sickle $0.43, and a Knut $0.015.

Also, the wand in the Ollivander's display window on page 82 of Sorcerer's Stone might be the horcrux that used to be Ravenclaw's.
