Is it just me, or could this Holiday be a sort of insult to the British?

Eh, they're used to it. They're so used to it they won't stop insulting themselves.

They've got Guy Fawkes Day. That's about it.

cookouts (not barbecues... If you cook meat with high heat, you're not barbecuing. Don't believe me, ask Didymus)

Heard something like that on the History channel. Barbecue, for you kidlets, involved cooking meat at low temperatures for an entire day or so. Now the term is used to mean anything grilled outside somehow at very high temperatures.

Anyway, my dad decided to blow up the rest of his crappy bottle rockets he got a few years ago. About half of them had the fhtoom removed or a really bad, two feet fhtoom, leaving with just a bang. We did have a few good ones. One landed on our elderly neighbor's roof, and another landed on top of our roof.

Might as well direct Strong Bad to Bolivia for them non-fhtoomers.

My sister, who just returned from her honeymoon at Cancun, was at the White Soxs game, sitting 10 rows just behind home plate. She could've picked a seat 6 or more rows down, but oh well.

Also went to the town's fireworks show on the 3rd. Some people I knew walked in front of us to find a seat closer. I greeted them, they greeted back.

Long story short, good past few days. :)

OK, holiday's over. Everyone go back to normal. Or as close to normal as you usually get.
;)

Words change their meaning over time, Dids, whether you like it or not. That's just the way it is.

Yep. Words are defined by usage, not by dictionaries.
