The angel did not vote until Monday. And I didn't go on the computer yesterday. So blame both of us!
Night 2: Para-noid
It was past midnight, and far past the time when the villagers usually went to bed. But The Noid was not in bed. He was wide awake, readying himself to journey outside. He loaded his tommy gun, made sure the batteries in his flashlight were fresh, and hung a garland of angel lily around his neck.
That evening, he had approached Einoo with an idea. "The wolves come out at night," he reasoned, "so if one or two of us were to stay up all night, we could catch them before they struck one of us."
Einoo has disapproved. "It's too dangerous. They have much better night vision than we do, and a canine sense of smell. They'd find you before you ever found them." But The Noid had been adamant, insisting that if the guard went in pairs, they could look out for each other. "Well, I can't tell you what you can and can't do," conceded Einoo with a sigh. And so The Noid had gone to find a suitable partner.
Now he crept silently towards that partner's house, keeping his flashlight off so as not to be seen, and taking only the lightest of steps. When he reached the door, he knocked very tentatively and whispered, "Rogue? Are you in there?"
There was no response from within. Had Rogue Leader fallen asleep? Was the knock too quiet? Noid knocked again, louder this time, and tried to open the door. It was locked. "Rogue? Come on man, don't keep me waiting."
Suddenly Noid heard a growl from behind him; he whipped around to see a lupine shadow. He fumbled for his flashlight and with it, illuminated the face of a black wolf.
"What are you doing out so late, lad? A wee bit stupid, don't you think?" sneered the wolf. Speechless, Noid backed into the door and held up his lily to ward the beast off. It backed up, but only laughed as it reverted to human form. Noid's eyes widened as a face he recognized came into view. He pulled out his tommy gun and fired, but his hands were trembling and so his aim was poor. With three shots, he managed only a glancing blow to the wolf's shoulder, and by then it was upon him. It ripped the garland from around Noid's neck and pinned him to the wall with one strong hand; he struggled to no avail. Then it began to transform once again, baring white fangs against black fur.
As the sun rose, Beyond the Grave was tending to the little garden he kept in front of his home when Inverse Tiger came running up
to him. "Did you see? Did you see?" the latter cried.
Beyond lowered the hood of his red hoodie and turned to look at Inverse. Still half-asleep, he blinked and muttered that he didn't know what Inverse was talking about. "It's The Noid! He's been..... they got him! They found him in front of Rogue's house!" Inverse stammered, obviously very distressed. Beyond frowned and rose slowly. "I guess it's time for another meeting then?" he asked grimly. Inverse was about to reply, but he was interrupted by Einoo's voice over a megaphone. "TOWN MEETING TIME! EVERYONE IN THE SQUARE!"
"Well, exactly," Inverse said as the two headed towards the square.
