Grrr! I hate them! Today I had to take a Writing test and a Revising and Editing grammar type test. I got so bored! So as a result this topic was posted. Post your terrible test stories and how much you hate them.

I took an algebra test today: yawn.
Seriously I Will never use this again in my life (algebra 2 excluded) not even in geometry (sorry off topic) so it was like a standerdised test (little circles Will be DEstroyed) so anyhoo lets get rid of the circles and get an easyer system!!!

HAHA!
That's kinda funny because I don't have school at all this week.
But right when I get back, we are having a state writing exam. Yay.

You know what else is funny? This was my 600th post. YAY!

I use algebra on a daily basis, and not just for my work. It honestly is very useful. I even use trigonometry once in awhile.

Yeah, even if you don't know it, just saying "how much more ____ do I need?" is algebra. Where x + y = z :)

Well, I like to have a balanced education no matter if I'm going to use it later on or not. But I disagree with a lot of standardized testing. Tests should form to what a teacher or school teaches, and not a set area. We don't really learn grammar in my school system (just something they figured they could do without), but we still have to take grammar-based tests like the one Senor complained about.

Algebra is the basic premice for most math. Unless it's geometric.

My school is about to start the New Mexico Standards Based Assessment. The sad thing about this test is that instead of just filling out the letter, you have to write a paragraph about how you got the answer.

In conclusion, I hate standardized tests.

I'd say a lot on this subject, but it would probably doom this thread to the Religion and Politics forum. :p I'll just say that I feel bad for you folks in public schools right now who have to deal with these "standardized tests" and all of the strings that are attached to them.

When I was in grade school in the early and middle 1970's, we had our own educational "revolution." It was called, "new math." It was an utter and abysmal failure, and to this very day I'm still often using my fingers and toes to deal with simple math calculations. I hope "standardized tests" don't doom some of you to the same, horrible fate...just imagine the utter embarassment of having to take your shoes off in the Wal-Mart to figure out if you've got enough change in your pocket to buy that glow-in-the-dark flamingo to put on your front lawn. :p
