And what about puncuation? Do we simplify that?

Don't kill off the apostrophe! It's abused enough as it is!

And then comes the biggest question of all... weekee, or wikee?

Wikee. Definitely.

It's always been "wikee", it's not even phonetically "weekee".

Don't we already have a thread about the correct way to say "Wiki"? I do think we do.

FYI, both pronunciations are perfectly legit, and both are popular. I'm a "weekee" guy myself.

Toastpaint, then.

The main point of this wikee/weekee thing popping up is showing that big problem with this idea: Words that are pronounced differently by different people.

I don't know, but it's been discussed in far too many threads.

(I'm a "wikee" person)

I've seen this article too and I had the same thoughts as DarkGrapefruit- what about words that have more than one acceptable pronunciation, or words that are pronounced the same but have different spellings and meanings?

And as far as impossibly hard words to remember, so what if everybody has a few words that they can never remember how to spell correctly? As my parents always say, "look it up, you'll remember it longer." I for one can never remember "definite" and I know there are some others that I can't think of right now. Many people are smart at math and bad at spelling.

I love being able to look at words and figure out what they mean from the roots and various parts and we would lose that if we redid all the spellings.
