YOU'RE HOPELESS! And bad at spelling.

No seriously, just press print screen and paste it into paint or whatever you have. Then select the area you want for an avatar and save it. Easy as that.

Oh, and you need a special program to make animated avatars.

To make motion avatars, you need to right software. I use Image Ready... don't know of any other programs you can use, but that's what I have dangit!

First, go to wherever you want your avatar from. Then, at the right time, hit the print screen key. Paste in Paint/Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro. Put a border around what you want as an avatar. Copy that. Close out the program (Do not save!) and reopen it. Paste what you last copied. Shrink it to 50-75% normal sized. Save, upload and VIOLA!
(Only for still avatars.)

No_loafing, you, of all people, have no business criticizing anybody else's writing skills. Remember what we talked about, now?

I personally like Jasc Animation shop. Did some lightsaber fights with it for school in fact.
For freeware, there's microsoft GIF animator, although I'm not sure if it still exists on the web. I think it does. It's very simple, jsut you need some GIF files to put into it first.
