Dude calm down, you're taking it a little serious. As for what does that mean? I really don't know. Probably something about he's a mod and don't get him angry.

As for Cthulu, no, I don't believe in him, and I doubt I will.

This isn't about worshipping Cthulhu, it's only about raising awareness of the fact that this is out there and practiced.

People practice Cthulu-ism?
I thought is was just part of the Lovecraft books, I'm so confused.

He's that guy from the H. P. Lovecraft book who has an octopus for a face. He's supposed to be "THE" bad guy from the Lovecraft series, but he's really something of a chump. Actually, I thought Dagon, the god of the fish-people, was scarier. He could turn you into a fish-person, and who wants to be a slimy, stinky fish-person?

(I mean, why do you think Skeletor keeps that bottle of Febreze around?)

I'm more of a Nyarlathotep guy, myself. I mean, what's scarier than something with NO TRUE FORM. One that could kill you in, like, 40 different ways.

uh, im sure COLA can inform me, did Lovecraft invent Cthulhu?
and in true reporter fashion i'll ask you a follow up question before you answer the first: isn't H.P. Lovecraft a lierary joke? i mean, do any actual authors or literary figures take that guy seriously?

disclaimer: in the event that lovecraft invented this religion/sect/cult and is some form of holy/really important figure guy...uh no offense intended by my above implication that Lovecraft is (was?) a hack.

1. no, the origins of cthulhu are on a small placid island around the Philipines.
2.no, in fact, all of your favorite horror movies, horror books, and all sorts of things of that nature became throughts because the authors were intrigued in Lovecraft's, as well as others, works.

and if you don't believe that, take L. Ron Hubbard for example. He was probably influenced by Lovecraft's work. After all, they are related in some aspects of their religions. Hay, maybe Cthulhuism is the Judaism onf The science fiction based religious field, Scientology being the Christianity.

yeah, the second question was more because i was trying to be rude and funny. what i really wanted to know i found out, thanks COLA. i was pretty sure that lovecraft didn't make up cthulhu because i was pretty sure i'd heard a lot about one and not the other and such.

edit: wow 100 posts. ive never stuck with a forum this long.

dude, L. Ron Hubbard made all that crap up, he even bet my science teachers room mate that he could make a religeon that many people will follow and become rich because of it.
Lovecraft didnt belive in this stuff, all he knew was Cthulhu was something feared on an island.

Ok, let's get this straight, scientologists are stupid because they believe in something some author made up.
Lovecraft made up Cthulu. You believe in Cthulu. hmm...

...and I'm not trying to be all high and mighty, I'm just pointing out things as I see them.

Wow, I'm surprised I didn't see this sooner. But then again, I don't post that often.

I'm a huge Lovecraft fan, and have been for a few years. Although his Cthulhu and other Elder gods are pretty cool, my favorite Lovecraft stories are The Cats of Ulthaar and The White Ships. I have a couple of H.P.Lc things on my beautiful piece of junk car, which very few people in my hokey little town seem to 'get'.

A couple of my friends know H.P.Lc (especially one of them, knows the whole canon like the back of his hand, I tell ya), but most of them don't have a clue. And that's fine with me, he certainly isn't for everyone.

Don't ask those kinda questions, that's an inqerry we don't wish to start. Please don't make this a conflict of religions.

Because the bible contradicts itself, so you could do something in the bible that says its alright, but still end up in hell because of it. at least with this, we know where were going.
