Seriously, in America, if we as a country are offended, like 9/11, there are a lot of ignorant people who sit on their butts and let everyone else work for them. There, since everyone is basically the same religion, they all are offended. Mind you that just drawing a picture of Mohammed to them is like burning a picture of Jesus to us.

Now, recently I have read a small packet and I have a Muslim friend, and I have learned a few things:
Islam is supposed to be the religeon of peace. And what they are doing o'er dere isn't real peaceful. My friend says they should do it in a peaceful way, like boycotts and stuff
In Islam, no one is alowed to draw, associate as someone else and etc.
Basically, you can't show the prophet Muhammed in a drawing, or in a movie, or in a picture because the Muslims do not want to guess how he looked.
Although I can understand why the Muslims are upset and why they are doing this violence. BUT!, I don't agree with the violence part!
They should find a peaceful way to be angry.
Making fun of people is one thing, but making fun of religeon is another. And it's one thing I don't want anyone to go through.

Boycott what? Great Danes? I don't think the Middle East uses too much Danish goods, and I doubt boycotts would do much good. The Koran does not forbid the dipiction of Muhammed, but it does not forbid women to walk around without veils either.

I think its banned because These Muslims(*not all, I'll explain in a bit) don't want people to worship the icons rather than the prophet, god, saint, ect.

(*As You can see in the Islamic manuscript above, there were and still are Muslims that are okay with images of Him, so its clearly not against Islamic code)
As I said the certain Muslims against the dipiction of Him were not alowed to show His face, but non-religious pictures were fine.

These guys don't understand free speech. Yes, the cartoons were very offensive (I guess; they don't offend me much but if I were muslim...) but, they're burning embassies in response? I've seen plenty of potrayals of God and Jesus on adult swim that i find offensive, but not much ever happens about that.

I'm interested to see what the response will be to those anti-holocaust cartoons, assuming they actually get printed.

Intriguing interview on Al Jazeera with an Arab (but non-religious) psychologist.

Can't say I agree with everything she says, but it's impressive to see an Arab woman making these statements in such a public way.

I think this has gotten way out of proportion. Mohammed has been portrayed in cartoons before, and in almost a negative way. Anyone remember Jesus and the Super Best Friends from South Park?

I do, and I think people should give it a rest, especially in countries where they do not allow freedom of the press.

Have you guys heard what Muslims are doing now? They are now calling Danishes, "Rolls of the Prophet Muhammed." I'm glad we haven't done anything like that.

Hey can I get some Freedom Fries?

That's the first thing I thought of when I heard about that. I think that "Rolls of the Prophet Muhammed" think started at a bakery in Iran.
That cracks me up if it's true.
Iran: We hate America, but we copy the dumbest pseudo-patriotic thing some of their leaders ever did.

I couldn't find anything on it on Google or Yahoo. I heard it on the Colbert Report, so i don't know if it is true but if it is, then it will be roffleitious.

I got it wrong. It's not "Rolls of the Prophet Muhammad", it's "Roses of the Prophet Muhammad". In the Middle East if you want a danish, you better ask for a Rose of the Prophet Muhammad, or you won't get anything.

Here is the article.

in response, first you can't judge the entire middle east based on what Iran does because, well, their leader is nuts. second the only reason they are calling the danishes "roses of the prophet muhammad" is because there is a flower whose name (roughly) translates in english as such. it's much more akin to us renaming cinnamon buns something like "peonies" or "dasies". The name of the flower includes the reference to muhammed.

yeah the whole thing is pretty messed up and i think it really sucks that it is so out of hand. thanks for making the point that not all depicttions are controversial, i.e. some don't show his face others are non-religious so that's okay. the whole custom is rooted in the ancient society, basically because polytheistic idol worship was the main religion before Islam came into being, so as Islam gained power, they wanted to avoid being associated with the people who worshippd statues. The Qur'an is pretty stern and clear about depictions of anything religion-related.
