Most people in the world these days, espeically in the U.S., don't seem to see the difference between having an opinion and forcing it on other people.

Remember, GreenEggsandSpam, Rose here is what we commonly refer to as an "America hater".

Although, apart from her rude comment, she does have a point. Opinions really shouldn't ever be presented as facts.

Which, unfortunately, she herself does routinely.

I'm not an "America hater", stop using emotionally weighted terms to get people to disrespect me. I actually have a much greater respect for the ideals your country was founded on than you apparently do. Modern america is a joke, and spits on everything it was founded to be.

And I'm not even going to get into IJ's comment.

'Tis interesting... we've had one or two homosexuals from the U.S. (PianoManGidley in particular) show up here, and comment on how they receive little or no criticism on how they act... yet you, who are not an American, ceaselessly complain about how many people are prejudiced against you.

You then turn around and chastise America for having more problems than any other country, and being less tolerant besides.

Hmm.

;)

I hate to say it, but those two Homosexuals are not exactly very typical. Since this site has far more Xians and probably conservatives than most sites, it's not unreasonable to assume it may have a skewed sample of homosexuals.

You're forgetting thati do know multitudes of gay, lesbian and transgender people online. I've known people who have had experiences in the Southern states that wouldn't be out of placeh appening in an eastern muslim country.

PMG is just odd. He's probably happy because he keeps his sexuality to himself for now though, and focuses on his music, at least that's my theory.

I would love to know what Socetew has to say about all of this.
He is quite happy with who he is. I think that, like PMG, he's not all down about "you don't know what I have to deal with every day!!" because he realizes that EVERYONE has to put up with crap, and if you dwell on the negatives, you're never gonna be happy.
Granted, Soce is in NYC, which is hardly Texas.
You can hardly say HE keeps his sexuality to himself, yet a lot of my friends that I consider homophobes seem to like him and his music.

Since you're implying the "you don't know what i have to deal with every day!" is me, remember I'm a transsexual, not a homosexual. That's in a whole other league.

And again, you like people like that because they don't make you feel guilty. And when there is a problem, that's not necessarily a good thing.

I have no reason to feel guilty. I like people like PMG and Socetew, and my friends Brandon, Matt, Jessica, Cody, Scott, and Brian because they don't constantly try to make themselves out to be victims when they're not.

Just FYI: I'm open about my sexuality--but not ridiculously open. As in, I don't walk around waving a rainbow flag everywhere I go or sport a pink t-top that says "I Kiss Boys." Most people, granted, are somewhat surprised when they find out that I'm gay, because I don't act like the stereotypical flamer that they have conceptualized in their minds...which gives me a perfect opportunity to tell and show them that you can't believe in such stereotypes. So, yeah...I'll mention my homosexuality if it comes up in conversation (like when someone asks if I have a girlfriend or something), but I don't introduce myself to people and say "Hi! I'm gay!" or anything like that. I mean, it'd be as lame and unaccepted as saying "Hi! I'm Jewish!" or something like that which makes the person feel as if you might be trying to force your opinions on them...

But I digress. My other point that I was going to make was to say that I also know plenty of other gay and bisexual people, though I admittedly know very few transsexuals. So I also do have a good sample of the different treatment people have gone through when others learn of their sexuality, and I fully understand how people, even in the same town I'm living in, haven't gotten treated as well by their friends and family.

Um, I'm a transsexual I AM a victim. And gay people are in many areas too. You can't really compare real life attitudes to a debate forum, anyway. And it's on a debate forum you see a lot of people's true opinions, and those are the ones that matter in the ballot boxes and behind people's backs.

Anyway, homophobia affects people other than just homosexuals, as it's very much a vicious enforcement of gender roles as opposed to an outright prejudice. Because of that, I'm the one that gets the worse end of the stick anytime anyone speaks out about gay people.
