Even Diddyfriend is on our side with this one. I think this is case closed guys, chalk it up to some bad apples that spoil the whole bunch (King Diamond, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio and others).

That's because it does.

Actually, it's alternating current/direct current, and, according to "Behind the Music", it came from Angus Young's Mother's/Sister's sewing machine..

"After Christ, Devil Comes"? Hardly..

The only thing I see that makes me even thing they're close to satanic is that whole "Highway to Hell" song. I've heard, possibly from the same "behind the music" that H2H is actually about touring and being on the road. hmm

I usually don't consider something satanic unless it's all "hail satan" or something similar. Even then, sometimes, I'm skeptical (Marilyn Manson, for example, seems to be acting the way he is just to generate shock, and, thus record sales. He's an Eminem for goths)

Most things like Pokemon, Harry Potter, Bill O'Reilly, etc, that people are calling evil or satanic are, in my opinion, too dumb to be satanic. I always thought evil had to be intelligent (when is the last time you heard the term "evil moron"?)

That's just my take on it.

Completely wrong. It actually came from all five band members yelling out their favorite random letter, and from there they tried to form a name out of it. When the bass player was asked for his, his reply was, "I hate letters, and numbers, too. But I always liked slashes for some reason."

Sorry, I just had to throw that in there. I think 'satanic' theories are in some ways no more credible than that alternate universe fictional AC/DC story my friend made up. They're just as much based on whatever that person wants to believe.

Of course, yes, bands like King Diamond that actually are Satanic are another issue entirely, but I don't know of any of the more popular bands/artists that openly admit to this. Aren't most of the real Satanic bands largely in the death metal underground very few people know about anyway?

I always wanted to hear satanic rap, country, pop, punk, or raggae music.. I think that it's because most real satanic groups tend to gravitates towards metal that most metal bands are labeled as satanic.
I always thought of AC/DC as a straight up hard rock band crossed with some old school blues-rock. Not quite satanic.

Heh, there's something I want to add to this that I forgot. I should note that I've actually heard King Diamond's Abigail, and it's one of the most hysterical albums I've ever heard in my life, most likely on an unintentional level, since he's obviously taking himself very seriously. God, every time he's hitting those high notes while singing those stupid lyrics, I totally lose it! I have a hard time seeing any non-KD fan not getting a similar effect. :D

I honestly can't think of any band/artist openly singing about Satanic matters that don't seem like they're over-the-top parody. Truly evil and frightening songs, IMO, are more grounded in actual real-life experiences relevant to a lot of listeners, and usually have a good amount of intelligence, subtlety, and taste within them. Maybe that's why people try to hear evil things in unassuming, popular songs that aren't actually there, believing that they're 'hidden', whereas in the big dumb Satanic songs, the message of evil is spelled out for you. But what good do hidden messages do if anyone can interpret them in a million different ways?

As for D&D:

"I cast Magic Missile!"
"Why? There's nothing to attack!"
"I'm attacking the Darkness!"
...
"I am Golstaff, the Sorceror of Light!"
"Then why'd you have to cast Magic Missile?"

ROLL THE DICE TO SEE IF I'M GETTING DRUNK!

Anyway, I have to second what pretty much everyone else has said--there ARE bands, etc. that are Satanic, but most are not. And Harry Potter/D&D/Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh!/whatever? Not Satanic in the least. My parents used to play D&D in college, and they're Christians.

He's dead, he has been dead for 8 years now, he died in 1997. The Church of Satan is ruled by Peter H. Gilmore.

Actually, it's alternating current/direct current, and, according to "Behind the Music", it came from Angus Young's Mother's/Sister's sewing machine..

I thought it was just what it said on the back of the amp.

Regarding rock music, Harry Potter and the like:

for "Satanism", read "Stuff that whiny members of the fundie Christian right don't like"

No, Dante's right. It's the sewing machine.

okay, so what about scary and mistified writings, such as H.P. Lovecraft, Edger Allan Poe and so forth? are they considered satanic? what about the Cthulhu Mythos? or other stuff like that... and then, what about cults?

I've never heard anyone call Poe's writings "Satanic". :/ I mean, we read some of his stuff in school. Really, I don't see any themes of Satanism in his writing.

It has been said, however, that Poe was quite the Necropheliac, not to an extreme case, but he was rather obsessed with the dead. His writings dealt with aspects of the beyond, many times in a demonicle aspect. the short story "The Cask of Amantillado (sp?)" ends with a man being bricked up behind a wall, still concious and whatching. Even though I love Poe, his writings give plenty of ammunition for him to be labeled as satanic.

Poke'mon is way more awexomer than your cartoons. You just don't want to admit it 'cause it's freakin' Japanese. At least, compared to some western television 'craptoons', it actually has some forms of morals to it, and it encourages imagination. <rant>Do not say Poke'mon is dumb. I watched the show when it first started, and I was at the age of three. Make comments like that, be burninated. </rant>

Anyway, most likely the reason Poke'mon is considered 'satanic' is because many of the main Poke'mon actually have most of their looks, names and attributes derived from Japanese nature spirits. Narrow-minded religious fanatics therefore consider them 'satanic' because they are the products of another, nature based, religion.

Actually, a necrophiliac is someone who has...um...another kind of obsession with the dead. I'm not going to discuss it here, because I'd surely get banninated.

Necrophelia can be defined as any sort of unnatural obsession with the dead, on a very wide spectrum.

well, i love his wrk because they give a verry dark and tormenting way of expressing the horror of things such as this. he has that way that can just get you into that horrified position before you even start to read the book. and also, i like to incorperate things from the Cthulhu and Lovecraftian mythos into my writings, such as the encronom, although there was not much in there that was actually true to the Necronomicon or Lovecraftian mythos other than Cthulhu, and the fact that the guys name is ,well you know.

so what about cults?

Cults? Well, while not all of them are Satanic, I'm pretty sure that most--probably all--of them are harmful. There are even some "Christian" cults, and many of those have done some harm.

Of course, the definition of "cult" varies.

Lesse what Wikipedia says about it:

Wikipedia wrote:
In religion and sociology, a cult is a cohesive group of people (often a relatively small and new religious movement) devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture or society considers to be far outside the mainstream. Its marginal status may come about either due to its novel belief system or because of its idiosyncratic practices.

However, in common usage, "cult" has a negative connotation, and is generally applied to a group by its opponents, for a variety of possible reasons.
