Are you people forgetting about the email "Marzipan"?

Well, ever hear of the quote, "You always nag the ones you love" It seems that he likes her, but can't tell her, so decided to tease her and talk about his 'ladies' to try to forget.

In the email "marzipan" he just wants Marzipan to say she likes him so he can impress everybody. (But I'm already impressed :) )

That was a great thesis. I'm betting that took a heck of a long time, because I certainly could not have written so well done. In short, combobulations, Francois Tremblay.

That thesis is creepily deep and thorough. I like it. :)

Francois, if you're out there, please come and post some more at this forum! You sound like an insightful sorta guy.

That site was made by the king of fanfiction himself, Rclock!
It's a little out of date though.

Uh, okay? *scratches head* There's too many people on here! I can't keep anyone straight. I know like 5 people... *weeps uncontrollably* Anyway that place is awesome! It said exactly what I thought about everyone just in long essay format.

Woah. O_o;;; Nice one. It's like...

"That one guy, in the glasses? He was using all these vocabulary words and confusing me, and the next thing I know I was relagated to this crappy bit part."

LOL, yeah. I love that. Great job! *stands up and claps*

From an honest standpoint I thiink youre overthinking this. The themes you find are probably unintentional. Alienation is just part of their humor. However, if I don't consider that, I would think it was pretty good. Nice expanded vocabulary.

I dunno about the rest of these, but I take a perverse pleasure in this kind of overanalysis. I likely wouldn't be much interested in the HR Wiki at all if I didn't

Well-written, but I have to admit I stopped reading it after a little while.

Some things in life are fun to enjoy without overanalyzing, and getting into serious social themes on a toon site I use to make me laugh on rainy days is such a situation. Getting into the psychology of the characters and examining the groups they're in starts to make the carefree and fun aspect of it all fade away, like people who watch The Simpsons and try to analyze Homer.

Ya betcha, mister hippityhomsar. Too much overthinking of H*R going on. Kind of reminds me of SB's analysis of the Halloween costume submissions when he sings about people with too much time on their hands. Er, wait, I guess that includes me too or I wouldn't be writing this. Bottom line is, for my entertainment, too much analysis takes away from the clever quality humor TBC create. It's like getting all worked up over some piece of dialogue in an old M*A*S*H, Seinfeld, or yes Simpsons episode -- I'd rather celebrate the wit and clever beauty of the writing.

Yup. The answer to most questions is pretty simple: for the sake of comedy. Why does Homestar always act the fool around Marzipan? It's funny. Why does Marzipan stay with him? Because their interactions are funny. Why is the King socially inept? It's funny.

Wow. I agree you can take things like this too seriously. It's fun to analyse this kind of stuff that TBC probably didn't even consciously know they were doing, but it ruins the humor if you think about it too much. :bubs: cruelty to :homsar: isn't funny if you think about the aleination. Oh well, you seem like a pretty cool guy, Franky, and I'm guessing you step back and just can see the humor without analysis some of the time.

That thing about homestarrunner as a blank sheet, uncapable of sustaining his own narrative, is so true. I knew there was something wrong with him, but there was no way I could have put it into words. I think he has gotten much more so as time goes on; compare his role in the more recent toons (especially the SBE car and "Strong Bad In Jail")with the early ones like jumping jacks and the Marshmallow's last Stand. (I'm actually a little suprised you didn't mention how much he's changed since those days.)

Well, anyway i hope you find the time to visit here more often. (I don't post very often myself.)
