I was just wondering, do you think this cartoon is offensive? Or just plain should be hidden from public? This cartoon hasn't been seen since 1970s.

o.o Then where did you get it? XD

Hmm....well, it's not really that offensive. Not something like Boris and Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle, and they still show that (well, they were recently). It should totally go on Boomerang or something.

Well, when I said not seen since 1970s, I meant in USA alone. BBC was apparently airing it in the 1980s and someone taped it, and later gave it to me.

Ah, I was wondering why I swore I saw a screenshot with BBC at the end XD

Well, the only offensive thing I could see was that it was this Japanese beetle or something....that was a stereotypical Japanese. Wasn't that bad though....

It's a Fritz Freleng cartoon featuring a character called the Blue Racer. The offensive part is another character called the Japanese Beetle, who is basically a non-stop racial stereotype. As for whether cartoons of this ilk should be censored? I'm not sure. I would definitely say that they shouldn't be shown alongside all the other cartoons that get put on TV for kids to watch (I don't know about America but I know British TV has used old cartoons from Warner Bros. and others as filler material for years). However, I do think they should be available for people to see, with proper context provided

Going off on a tangent, I'm reminded of when BBC held a "politically incorrect" night, where they dragged out all these things like the Black And White Minstrel Show and On The Buses which are in one way or another frowned upon for offensive content (racism and sexism respectively). During the night there was a discussion of "political incorrectness", in which one of the commentators said that it wasn't a politically incorrect night at all, because all the potentially offensive material had been contained within the context of the themed night rather than simply shown "as is"

Okay, that was basically me rambling to no real conclusion. Oh well
