I actually like R.O.B. He seems like he could end up being a pretty good character.

Yeah, he'll definitely add some nostalgia to the game.

What nostalgia?

I mean, seriously, who actually bought a ROB?

They mine as well put in the Virtual Boy, too.

We used to have one with the NES, but it got given to Goodwill along with all the old stuff

...Smash Bros. is built on providing nostalgia for Nintendo games.

I'm assuming that this person did. :P

That person hates Chowder for no good reason so their opinion is irrelevant. ;)

Okay, I'm going to implement some spoiler rules from now on:

1. NO DISCUSSING SSE INFO THAT HAS NOT BEEN REVEALED ON DOJO
2. NO OPENLY DISCUSSING HIDDEN CHARACTERS. ROB is the exception because he fails so hard.
3. Basically if you're posting something that has not been revealed on Dojo, put it in a spoiler box. Otherwise go crazy.

You guys have chosen your fate, prepare to embrace your new robotic overlord.

This will be your doom.

Put me down, please. I mean, like when I first saw him in whatever game it was, I think, uhhh...I dunno. Mario Kart DS? and like I found out who he was and I kind of was like "heh heh" and then like I wasn't expecting him to be some sort of half-arsed running joke. Come on, it's not like he was some fan favorite and nintendo appealed to the fans, it was more like nintendo was just like "hello amerika this is funny is it not?"

Exactly. Well put.

Should have put in GENO. X-(

I always find this kind of whining stupid, especially when whining about third party characters not making it in. R.O.B. is much easier for them to add than a character which they'd have to trudge through yet another third party to obtain, they didn't "waste" his slot from another third party character. If anyone, you should be blaming Sonic or Snake for a lack of Geno. They're the evil ones who took a lot of time and effort to make, I'm sure.

Spoilers in this quote!
Quote:
There are much better characters that could fill R.O.B's spot that Nintendo already own
Like Mike from StarTropics, the game is classic, of good quality and had a ressurrection of popularity due to VC.
Or Simea from Crystalis, Nintendo bought the rights for the game and could use him for interest of Crystalis on VC.
Instead we get an accessory that barely anybody used on their NES, shame.

I kinda like R.O.B as a sort of Nintendo character, I use him a lot in Mario Kart DS...

I don't think he made a very good NES accessory, however. Though I guess it's cool to actually own a R.O.B if someone actually owns one.

By the time I was born, the NES was on its deathbed, but had I been alive for its prime time, I likely would have bought a ROB.

I also hear he could have ditched Sonic and Snake to allow room for Dixie Kong, Belmont, Isaac, and Duster.
Or perhaps he could've ditched putting Meta Knight in and instead we'd get no clones whatsoever.
And maybe he could've been working on any character other than frickin' Mr. Game & Watch.
And I personally think Sakurai should've spent less time of Subspace Emisarry and more time solving world hunger.

Seriously, he could have easily traded something for another at any point early in production, it could've easily been a very different game if they wanted to. But it's obviously designed around the way it was for a reason, to ballance deadlines with content (and ROB seems to have a very important role in SSE) and its silly to complain about how one character used a slot that could've been used on your favorite. :eekdance:

There are other ROB vs. Kirby fights from that person, I just picked that because it was the most impressive as far as fights go. You can look around if you want, ROB won the majority of them. Of course I have no solid evidence of his awesomeness (or lack thereof), but he seems to be extremely powerful in the air with strong aerials and a huge recovery.

At first I thought they put ROB in there to try and top the surprise they got with characters like Game & Watch from Melee, but since he's been in other games before this, he loses his coolness factor a bit.

So what happened with Krystal's voice actress supposedly working on Brawl? Was it ever confirmed or denied?

Ike's complete moveset.

Perfect for my style of play. Same reason I loved Roy. I've got no patience for fast, weak combos. Give me a man whos smashes are ridiculously powerful.

My basic impression: I think Ike is a pretty cool guy. eh kills people at 24% and doesn't afraid of anything.

Ike easily is the sexiest character in the game.

She's in a Star Fox easter egg, like Peppy and Slippy were in Melee.

I have no idea what context this image is in (and I have no desire to know until I play the game), but it's pretty much the best thing I've ever seen.

You wanna know how fast sonic really is?

He's so fast that if you gives him a bunnyhood and make him run rightward on the Big Blue track, He goes off the right side of the screen and dies.

Very interesting interview with Sakurai here by IGN. Discusses the lack of voice chat, more third parties, downloadable content and online leaderboards, as well as Smash Brothers' future. I'd highly recommend reading it.

I am highly disappointed about the lack of a DLC service....I suppose I must finally give up my hopes of Geno.

Masahiro Sakurai: Nope. No other ones.

I'm not sure I buy this.
