I better go notify Nintendo about that so they can change it again. :P

Yeah. They made it RPG-esque, but not too much so. If you ask me, Soul Calibur 3 had that problem. This is plenty.

Wow, that's incredibly awesome.

It also reminds me of the older days of the Forum; Folding Chair of Thwacky +3 sticker, anyone?

Yes, games seem to borrow a bit from RPGs nowadays, like stats in GTA:SA and classes in tactical shooters.

Back on topic, I wonder if there will be a Mike Jones sticker (I just think StarTropics deserve one mention)

I wonder if anyone else noticed that March 9th was the date Super Mario RPG was released for SNES.

People that say that ridley isn't a possible character because of his size are idiots. If Olimar and Bowser can be scaled, so can he. It amazes me people think that a Scaled down flying beast wouldn't work even after CHARIZARD was confirmed

Heck, He doesn't hardley even need to be scaled. In Metroid He was only a few pixels taller than Samus

Image

He could easily fit in, and no one would raise an eyebrow.

But seriously, so much of the speculation (even from certain people here) is a LOT of bunk, and a lot of it self-inflated, too.

I'm personally doubting Ridley will be a playable character, he's jsut not the playable type. However I won't doubt that Metroid deserves and may well get another representative.

Personally I'm thinking it'll either be Dark Samus (who wouldn't just be a clone of Samus, she can do a lot more than that) or one of the other established hunters from Hunters or Corruption.

Just, not Ridley. As powerful as he is, like King P, he just can't be changed to be playable. Don't count him out of being a boss though.

Oh noes, not the playable type! That vaguely established law of selection has killed off all sorts of fan favorites for sure!

While I'm not getting my hopes up for Ridley, between a cast of little boys, pink puffballs, muscular men and a flying dragon (Charizard), you can't say Ridley wouldn't work. He could definitely work as a boss as well though, although I'd prefer that role going to Mother Brain or Kraid personally.

Charizard had confirmed in the Pokemon games a versatile moveset. Plus, he didn't always fly. In fact, you had to teach him to fly.

Ridley is well-known to fly for most of his battles. The original Metroid I didn't get up to him, but I do believe his fighting style's changed so much from that time it holds little bearing. Super Metroid, both times you fought he didn't touch the ground after the beginning of the fight. Same with Fusion. Prime he flew for most of the game, only touching down due to damaged wings in the second phase of the fight. In Corruption he only spent most of the fight grounded due to the fact his wings hadn't recovered from the last battle.

Add to this the fact all he's really ever done is breathe fire/lasers, fly, and grab/slash. That's three attacks, none of them powerful enough to blow into a Final Smash anyway.

Dark Samus however, seems to be easily modified for Smash. Defined versatility in attacks, and notable uniqueness in fighting style.

Every "They don't have enough cannon moves" argument is discredited by the fact that Captain Falcon is playable.

But the thing with Captain Falcon, is he's a confirmed bounty hunter. He's known to have some combat prowess as a result.

I dunno how that translates to flaming limbs, I'm assuming fire-generating devices.

I never said Dark Samus couldn't be a character. I think it may be unlikely due to Samus's "Zero Mission" power suit rather than her Prime one, but she could definitely exist as a unique character.

But so could Ridley. There's no reason why he couldn't just have multiple jumps and glide, not every character has attributes directy mirroring their games (Ganondorf isn't nigh-invincible to all but the master sword, Mewtwo isn't a flying demigod, etc). Shooting lasers, his tail whip, various slashes and grabs... get creative with some dash attacks and whatever and you've got a full moveset. (Hey, he has more to work with that Fox or Captain Falcon.) As for Final Smash, I'm sure Sakurai is creative enough to think of something for a giant dragon type. And as in the case of Mario, Link or Samus, it doesn't have to be canon.

While I'm not too sure we'll be getting any more Metroid representatives, I'd say he's the most likely choice. He's appeared in more Metroid games than any other character besides Samus so he has a lot of nostalagia going for him. (Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 3, Metroid Zero Mission) So while this is just speculation, I think he stands a bit of a better chance thank Dark Samus or a random hunter thanks to that.

Edit: In response to your latest post, that's true. But in regard to Ridley, he's a freakin' space dragon, he's bound to have some battle prowess as a result.

...did Smashbros.com go down for all of you, as well? I doubt it's anything major--probably just some server issues--but I just noticed it.

That kid with the microphone in the first picture of the sticker upgrades thing?

He's from here: http://nindb.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ntr-ang.shtml

A English tutor for Japanese people, apparently.

Prediction: In Japan he makes your character speak in english, and vice versa.

There's more rabbits than just from Rayman. Could be a Japanese-only game. Then there's MIPS and the Star Bunnies form Mario. I'm pretty sure bunnies were involved in at least one of the Game Boy Zelda games too.

Lol wut? Mario's, Pikachu's, Metaknight's, and Yoshi's smash (slightly) are all things that the characters haven't done before. Don't tell me that turning into an insane giant ball of electricity that can fly at will isn't far fetched.

Pikachu's Final Smash is Volt Tackle, his signature move from the third generation games.

Yoshi's is the result of eating a rainbow shell in Super Mario World.

Mario's may not seem done before, but he used something like it in Super Mario RPG. Both in SMRPG and in Brawl it looks to be the Fireball on steroids.

Meta-Knight's... I concede defeat only because I've never fought him in a Kirby game.

Not even close. While it could definitely be described as "firebal on steroids", in SMRPG it was simply a attack that rapidly shot large fireballs. His final smash on the other hand is a completely different and more dragonball-esque super fire death blast doom attack.

Meta Knight's final attack is indeed not something from his games.

Lucas takes his final smash from Poo in Earthbound, so it's not canonically attached to him.

Pokemon Trainer has all three of his Pokemon simutaniously attack in their final smash, which I know isn't allowed in Pokemon games. He's breaking the rules!

Link has never used the triforce to trap his opponents as he rapidly slashes them, his final smash is an original creation.

Samus fires a huge "Zero Laser" attack that isn't from any of her games. Her own beam being so strong that it shatters her power suit is non-canon as well.

Bowser's Giga Bowser transformation is from the Smash Brothers series, and has nothing to do with the Mario games he comes from.

Peach just seems to have random passive attributes as a final smash, peaches and sleeping. While it fits her character, I don't believe either were used as an attack in a game, unless in Super Princess Peach (which I haven't played).

Ice Climbers have certainly never created Icebergs before, it's definitely an original attack showing how Sakurai can make a final smash from a character that has nothing to work with.

So while plenty of characters do have final smashes based on their games (Pit, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Ike(?), Diddy Kong, Snake(?), Sonic, King Dedede (sorta), Olimar, Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Yoshi), plenty of them don't. So in the end, it doesn't matter if a character has a final smash-esque attack in their arsenal. Sakurai will make one.

Jazz Jackrabbit was on the Gamebody Advance one time.

That'd be interesting to see.
