I just read somewhere that Brawl won't be coming out in Europe until June 2008. This makes me especially sad.

AMERICA! Yes, but not by this long. Usually it's a month or two, not four entire months. |

It was the greatest console ever!!! |

Before anyone says anything about the character-selection and stage-selection screen, it's the SAME THING as the demo. Wait...and yet, their opponents can play as Zelda and Snake? WTC? |

Yeah, that character select screen looks a little bit suspicious, as there's no Kirby, but there is Sonic. I think that Kirby won't be unlockable. |

To be honest, it looks worse than the melee one. I really hope that this is merely the demo version, and that they've got a bit more up their sleeves. Remember the lengths they went to *not* show us those screens? These came out almost too easy for me to accept them right off the bat. I'm intrigued, still. |

Kirby and King Dedede are not secret characters (look at Event Matches). This is not the official character or stage roster. |

So in another words, you have no way of know whether you're playing another person or just an A.I opponent? Laaaaaaaaaaaaame |

The character select screen isn't complete, this is a placeholder. I might look a little like this, but it's not done. I can tell by the absence of Lucas, Snake, the Pokemon Trainer, Kirby, Dedede etc.. This is the Smash played at the demo, with only some of the more basic characters around (my guess is they need to do more work on some characters like Snake, and the Trainer, and others just weren't quite ready yet). |

Not all characters are unlocked from the begining, you need to unlock some first. |

To me, the absence of Kirby is the most striking factor that shows this shouldn't be the starting roster. Kirby's been a regular character since the first Smash Bros. Why would they suddenly make him unlockable? |

I dunno, but he's in the first level of adventure mode. |

They wouldn't make Kirby unlockable and Meta-Knight a starter. it's obviously the demo screen. |

Laaaaaaaaaaaaame Why does it matter if you don't know the person anyway. |

Because if I wanted to play a computer I could just put a computer on in a normal match? |

Seems to me the only way that you'd notice some anonymous person playing instead of a computer playing is if said person was exceptionally bad or exceptionally good... it wouldn't be fun to play against someone bad anyway, and chances are rather low that you'd be matched with someone actually decent. In any case a computer could easily match that anyway. in short, there's no reason that the computer shouldn't pick up the characters of people who get cut off. edit: and if you just wanted to play a person then you could play a person in a normal match. |

Well yeah, it's loads better than just ending a match because someone got cut off. But maybe they should do something like, oh, I dunno, voice chat? so that you know there's an actual person on the other end. |

...first off, I'm pretty sure you'd have to get some accessories for voice chat (maybe not, i'm new to the whole wii thing). In any case, you'd be lucky to find someone who had said accessories and was currently using them. as far as i can tell, the online brawl thing is to be used to break the monotony of constantly fighting the computer. you fight against real people with real strategies (with no yelling over headsets involved), but if one of them accidentally drops out, the game continues as normal. i see no problem. if voices are important, invite some friends over. |

I'm thinking that it's largely in part of both the accessory deal that teff's mentioned, as well as nintendo probably does not want to gain the notoriety that x-bawks live does, with racist, foul-mouthed twelve year olds. It's a bit of a turn off to parents, many of which are the assumed buyers of said game. |

Especially when you're not playing, just watching and listening, and you eventually break down and say, "JUST SHUT THAT THING OFF!" And to everyone wondering about those selection screens: they are from the E for All demo. Those characters probably are not fully finished yet. Or they actually don't have a full selection screen yet, so they just put the characters from the demo on there. |
