Day 6: Inseparable The attack had been silent, so Ace was not discovered until the first few early birds, Ido Nos and Homeschool, got up that morning. His body was rigid, eyes open, limbs in a standing position. Homeschool moved it to their makeshift graveyard out of sight of the square, while Ido Nos informed the villagers beginning with Einoo. One by one they stepped into the square as Ido knocked on each door in turn. The last door Ido came to was Ace's. "Ace!" he called as he knocked. "Acekirby, wake up and see this!" "He's not there," interjected Beardo. "Take a head count - we're all here except Ace. It was him." "Oh... oh, of course," Ido said as the grim realization came over him. He joined the rest in the centre of the square, where Einoo stood as usual. "Well folks, it looks like our mystery killer has struck again. I'd love to know how he or she - or it - is doing it, but unfortunately we're down one forensics specialist. I will nevertheless try to get any info I can. In the meantime, just pray it doesn't turn on us." The voting period was brief. "If Ace was a wolf, I bet Teff is too!" Exhibit pointed a finger at his accused. "Those two are inseparable." "Yeah, they are," said Jello. "I hardly ever see them apart. If one of them got infected it would be easy for him to convert the other." Teff frowned. "Hey, now. Ian hung around with Ace a lot too, and he turned out human." But few of the others listened to his weak defense. Einoo tallied the votes and called out Teff's name, but he didn't budge. "You guys are all jerks, you know that?" "Come on, Teff, don't do this," said Einoo. "You're always so eager to lynch as long as it's not your life on the line. You're the one being a jerk." Teff considered this, sighed, and shuffled into the middle of the ring, scowling. "Geez, fine, you got me. It's not enough that I have to watch my best friend die right in front of me for no reason at all, but now I get the noose just for being his friend. You humans deserve to die." Einoo waited throughout this speech, studying Teff's face carefully to see if he would make a sudden move. He did not, and with a single bullet to the head he was silenced. At lunch, Ido Nos was talking to weer5e about the recent events. "Man, what do you think the killer is? I wonder if the wolves have a disease or something, and they need to kill to stay alive..." weer shook his head. "No, I think we'd see more dead from whatever this is if that was the case. I think it's something... well, I don't want to say divine, but something watching over us." "What, like a guardian angel? Pretty bad one if it can't tell who's going to be killed every night." "No, not like that, um... it's hard to explain. But, I have an idea of how we can find out. What if we organize a watch to stay out all night and look for anything unusual coming into the town?" Ido swallowed and rolled his eyes. "That's the exact same idea that Noid had, and look where it got him." "Only because he had an unreliable partner," weer countered. He looked across the hall at Rogue Leader, who was busy chatting with sci-fi greg. "If Rogue wasn't such a heavy sleeper, they would have been able to team up on that wolf. We just need to make sure we get together before nightfall and stay together." "Hmm, well, I am mighty curious about whatever's out there. What do you say we meet at 7 at my place?" "Better make it 9," said weer. "I have a lot of stuff to get done today." "9 it is," said Ido. Tonight would be a fun night, he was sure. SUMMARY - Story stuff: Teff was ticked that people voted for him just because he was Ace's best friend. But then he was a wolf anyway. weer and Ido Nos agreed to keep watch during the night. - The Experimental Film has been killedhe was a wolf. - It's still night, get voting. Deadline is Monday August 20, 12 noon. - 9 humans and 3 wolves remain. |

I find it humorous that, when faced with death, instead of running or screaming or crying, Teff scowles and calles everyone a jerk.
Also, I was in this story. Yay. |

So uh... here's a super late story. Night 7: The Night Watch Ido Nos paced back and forth in his living quarters. It was now twenty minutes past nine and weer showed no signs of arrival. He had not seen weer since they made their deal, and he was beginning to worry. Would he show up? Was he in danger? Was any of this a good idea? The knock came at 9:30. Ido answered and said, "You're late." weer was out of breath. His hair was dishevelled and his coat was muddy. "Sorry," he panted. "I was doing field work down at the beach and I lost track of time." "So what's the plan?" "You know the little ridge on the north side of town? If we get in between the bushes up there, we can see the whole thing without being seen. We jut have to stay quiet. Are you packed?" Ido nodded and grabbed his pack, containing blankets, lily, some food, and coffee in a thermos to keep himself awake. "You ever stayed up all night before?" asked weer. "Once, in college," said Ido. "It wasn't fun for me the next day." "You'll be fine," said weer, and they exited. A lone wolf crouched inside the tree. He tried to kid himself into thinking that the other two would be coming, but he knew better. The silence was long, broken only when Alpha awoke from his deep sleep. WHERE ARE THE REST? "They're too afraid to come out tonight. Master, you know by now that there is an angel working against us. Is there nothing you can do to stop it?" NOT NOW, WHILE I AM STILL CHAINED, was the reply. WHEN I AM STRONG, I WILL TEAR THIS PLACE APART. NOT EVEN A SERVANT OF THE ALL-FATHER WILL STOP ME THEN. "But how long will that take? We're running out of humans, and they're getting smarter." NOT LONG. I CAN ALREADY FEEL MY BOND LOOSENING. A FEW MORE HEARTS, PERHAPS. The small wolf waited nervously. He wished the others were here so that they could be sent in his place. YOU ARE AFRAID. I CAN SMELL IT. AS WELL YOU SHOULD BE. THESE ARE FORCES FAR OLDER AND MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND. BUT I AM MERCIFUL. YOU MAY REST TONIGHT. The lone wolf breathed a sigh of relief, raised his head and howled in tribute to his lord. Three in the morning and Ido was getting restless. "We haven't seen anything all night," he hissed. "Shouldn't they have been here by now?" weer was nodding off. "Wha? Oh, yeah. What time is it? Three? What time do they usually come?" "No idea, but this seems really late. If they stayed out this late at night, we'd see how tired they were at the meeting." weer shrugged. "Maybe they don;t need as much sleep as we do. We don't exactly know a lot about their biology." "Fair enough. But I wish we'd see something. I came out here hoping to catch our mystery helper. But the town has been silent all night. What do you think?" There was no response. "weer?" He had fallen asleep. Ido sighed, took a sip of coffee and turned back toward the town, waiting for a sign that never came. SUMMARY - Story stuff: the night watch idea didn't pan out, because the wolves were too scared to show up. - No one died. woot. - It is now day. Get voting. Deadline: Friday August 24, 11:59 pm EST. - There continues to be 9 humans and 3 wolves remaining. |

So if two of the three wolves didn't vote, we should look at who hasn't posted in a while. Most of everyone who's left has been coming around the forums lately, except: sci-fi-greg: hasn't posted for almost 10 days That Cinnamon Thing: banned and hasn't been replaced by another player Jello B.: banned and hasn't been replaced by another player So chances are good that two of these guys are wolves. Do we have any leads on any of them? |

This is true. And DG's story pretty much doomed both of us. By the way, I actually thought the marked wolf was supposed to be Dacheet, not Teff, 'cause of The Cheat's spots. I thought this all the way until my death story. |

Listen up folks, because I've got a computer problem situation on my hands. The deal: My family's computer has fizzled out and died. Until we can get it repaired next week, everyone is going to use my personal computer. Which means my time on it is limited. I can post from elsewhere, but the story file is kept on this compy. Does anyone mind if the next few rounds have little to no story in them? Inverse Tiger wrote: So if two of the three wolves didn't vote, we should look at who hasn't posted in a while.
