"Hand signals...got it." Marcus wasn't the quiet type. This was going to be hard. Maybe tail signals would work.

[OOC: I hate to bow out of this right as an Epic Moment is about to begin, but school's getting really busy. So until further notice, anyone may play Marcus. Just please don't kill him off. ^^;]

<OOC> So I can't do this? </Disregard this end tag and the following paragraph because I'm still OOC>

As it turned out, the drow was really a shiny metal object hovering just above the ground. The top section, which had a glowing blue light jutting out from it, turned towards the two scouts as the construct yelled "EXTERMINATE!" The last thing Marcus experienced before his death was a beam inflicting the single most painful moment of his life.

<Still OOC> I couldn't resist. :p </OOC... for reals this time>

<GM's Oreal-life-intrusion note: If school is getting really busy for any of you... I understand. Work got insanely stressful for me this week, what with the blizzard and all. It's amazing how many people call in sick just becasue they can't start their car ;)
On top of all that, I had to move out of my old apartment, so I hope you understand why I wasn't around to keep this ol' freight train a-movin'. But The move is finished, I'm all unpacked, and thanks to SaskTel I once again have internet. Yeah! :) >

(Meanwhile, back in Glenarbor..............)

The town Glenarbor had seen better days, it was true, but the rebuilding effort had been successful in keeping the town alive. Before our heroes left for their now-famous quest to slay the Dire Wolf, the people of Glenarbor had resolved to rebuild... and rebuild they had. The fund to rebuild came mostly from the Birk family; The same Birk family that Maxwell Birk and Farnham Birk took leave of to go off on their quest. At first, their father had forbade them to go, but when he saw that they were resolved to go with or without his blessing, he accepted the inevitable and send his sons off as best-equipped as well-prepared as he thought best. However, after word reached him of the heroic deeds of a band of adventures led by a daring pair of brother by the same names as his sons, he had overflowed with pride in them. He even commissioned a bard to write songs to spread their fame. When he learned that it had all began right in Glenarbour in the old Red Linon Inn.... well! He could not restrain himself: He formed a partnership with the old owner, Sam Gansusoult, and commisioned a NEW AND IMPROVED Red Lion Inn. (he tried to get the name changed to "The Maxwell Burk Inn" But that didn't fly with Sam)

Sam the Bartender; Also known as Sam Gansusoult, looked through a window. A window with glass in it, no less. As he passed his eyes over the glass, he noticed a small bug crawling along it, so he flicked it off. "Grizzilda, my dear, have the new taps been unpacked yet?" A shrill voice came from down in the new cellar "Nay, and if ye ask me wea me taime te ne'r be. So stop asking me!" Sam just scowled and mutter something under his breath about putting up with "that woman". The new Inn and Tavern wasn't open yet, of course. The walls had been finished, but the roof was still being built. The cellar was all ready for foodstuffs, but the bar hadn't been installed and there was no furniture yet. Sam trundled over to one wall... one special wall. It contained bricks from the fireplace of the old Red Lion Inn. On it, hung with care, were paintings of the "Heroes Of Glenarbor": Maxwell Birk, Farnham Birk, Marcus The Brave Lizzardman, Elven Ranger Drek, and Micheal The Mage. Oh the heroic tales that had been sung many a night over a campfire whilst the town had been slowly rebuilt. Oh the distortions, half-truths and pure fabrications that were being spread as legend. Ah well; The first two were local boys, so their names were on everyone's lips in Glenarbour, but Sam had actually met all of them... and he remembered them. They had saved his life, and he would ever be in their debt.

<GM's Note: Word of the names of the OTHER heroes that have banded together with these famous five has not reached Glenarbor.... yet.>

<OK I'M BACK!!!! Sorry I left unexpectedly, hopefully it won't be that hard to get everything back in the game.>
Prosper looked the Gnome over. Hearing Tem's voice inside his head, he calmed himself. Just a simple, evil name and a pasword he already knew. Looking strait at the Gnome, as if he had better things to do, the boy said in a cold voice; "Leiutenent Gaal Vissin, Merkrath's Teeth Bleed Tonight." Then he waited.

However, he abandoned the plan to rob Maxwell's house and parted company with Marcus therafter. He has not been seen again. However.... he might show up again (hint hint).>

The Gnome pointed his weapon away from Prosper, Saluted (and said:) "You may pass, Sir. Er.. and your slave too."

< :kot: No. They're brothers. Or clones. Or doplegangers. Or something. I haven't decided yet  >

Tem followed Prosper. When they reached the entrance, Prosper saw a sign written in Speritheil. He recognized the Royal Seal of the Emperor of Suldeneselar on it from his short time in the Elven Emperor's palace... it must surely mean that this Gnome had some connection to the Suldeselarian Royal Family.

Prosper went inside and saw several Gnomes milling about. Each one carried a small pad of paper and some sort of writing contraption that looked vaugely like a quill pen. They were busily writing prices on the pieces of paper and then sticking them onto marked places on the shelves. One of them noticed Prosper enter, but he didn't say anything, nor did his behavior seem of change.

<Prosper and Tem have now entered the Gnomish Airship that is parked in the Market Square of Squiddy Man Mountain's main city..... the city who's name Tem hasn't bothered to translate for you yet... the city of the High Flayers.>

Inside the airship, Prosper and Tem could see a plethora of objects of various kinds. Books, potions, armor, weapons, foodstuffs, hardware, footware, clothing.... it was loaded up like some sort of caravan store-wagon, with objects crammed into the smallest little space and goods piled high on every shelf. Prosper could even hear faint (but cacophonous) sound of animals making noise from below-decks.... he wondered in passing if there was a zoo on board, but then he set his mind on why he was here: To find the resistance if there was one, and to make contact with them!

{ -lives!!!- >.> i offer no excuse and only ask for forgiveness xD }

Acedia remained quietly, innocuously perched on Prosper's shoulder, hopefully either out of the Gnome's sight or otherwise not suspicious-looking enough to draw questions. She looked around the interior of the airship almost fascinatedly, tempted to climb up on top of Prosper's head to get a better look, but decided that might attract some unwanted attention. So she resisted the temptation.

Meanwhile, Taryn had wandered off somewhere. She'll be back later.

Prosper looked around the room, surpriesed at the apparent lack of intrest the Gnomes had in him and his "slave". He cleared his throat.
"Who's in charge here?" he said in a commanding tone, then, remembering that he was an evil, arrogent villain, added; "I would've thought I would've recieved a better reception." He then waited, staring at one of the Gnomes.

The Gnome turned to Prosper, frowned perplexedly, and said: "Foreman Locke is in charge here, mister."
Another Gnome turned to Prosper and said: "You'll be wanting the Talismolnger, I suppose? If so, you'll have to wait. He's busy with a customer."

Prosper scowled, now what? Should he rage on, demanding to be serviced now? Or sit and wait? What would a Drow most likely do? And which would be better for the mission? Decisions decisions.
He decided to wait, although impatiently. The impatience wasn't all act. He did only have till the next sunup, and he did want to try to contact whatever resistance he could find.
He strode to a corner and folded his arms, still scowling. Remembering the Royal Elven Symbol he had seen, the boy beamed a thought to Tem; Can you see if any of these Gnomes have a connection with the Suldeselarian Royal Family? Be as discrete as possible, of course.

Tem walked over to Prosper and whispered: "I can psi you just fine, but I can't psi the Gnomes. I can feel a sort of dullness in the ether, as if there's some kind of dampening field in here."

(Meanwhile, back in the cave..............)

The Drow ranger approached the place where Drek and Marcus were hiding. He called out "Hello? Anybody here?"

Drek shouted "Now" and he lept up from his hiding place, shooting an arrow directly into the middle of the back of the Drow!

Acedia was getting a little antsy, as she too remembered Prosper would turn into a pumpkin at midnight would lose his disguise at sunrise. Being indoors, now, it was more difficult to gauge how much time was left. At least Acedia would be able to get back to the group if Prosper overstayed his welcome, as her medallion had a good few hours on Michael's illusion spell, giving her ample time to get back. Especially since she was conserving energy by riding on Prosper's shoulder rather than scurrying along herself.

Now...what would happen if the spell wore off before they were safely out of the city? Well, a number of things. Most likely, though, the revelation that the Lieutenant Gaal Vissin was in reality a teenage street rat on a recon mission for a ragtag band of so-called heroes working in direct opposition to the Drow would likely result in the executions of both Prosper and Tem. And maybe Acedia, if she didn't manage to get away quickly enough, even if her death would be for a different reason (tasty tasty rat brains). That's the worst-case scenario, though. Must stay positive...

...though to be honest, hope seemed to be scarce here.

Prosper was surprised to hear Tem whisper to him. Is the dullness affecting your ablity to communicate through your mind? he asked, giving a sour look to his slave as if to say, "Back in your place!"

Just then, a previously-disguised door opened on a wall opposite the door that Prosper, Tem, and Acedia had entered through. Standing there was a Gnome dressed in finery befitting a rich merchant. He waved to Prosper: "This way, Lieutenant. Mister Worthington will see you now."

A small amount of time before Derk shot the arrow, Andrew unaware of the Drow presence nearby was collected with his thoughts...

Okay maybe in this peace I can figure out what's up with those memories...they never happened to me in this life...in this life...maybe I somehow got someone elses...this is very confusing...

Michael was nearby, he saw Andrew looking a bit confused but he decided to leave him alone, it wasn't his problem.

When the Arrow was shot Andrew heard the fast arrow nearby and headed towards the direction to investigate.

<OOC: I'm not sure if it's legal for Andrew to be able to hear the arrow shot...I can easily edit the post if Sarge finds something wrong with it>

{ Well, arrows typically don't fly in complete silence, I don't see why Andrew couldn't have heard the shot. It wouldn't be particularly loud, kind of a faint 'twang-fshh' at the edge of his hearing, but he could have heard it o_o whether or not he would be able to correctly identify it is another matter entirely, though. }

<GM's ::STAMP:: of approval :) One of Andrew's "Chi powers" is the ability to Center his mind when he is surrounded by peace and relative silence. When he is Centering his mind, he can expend his Chi to increase the efficiency of his five senses, speed up his reaction time, and increase his healing rate. Also, Centering his mind can allow him to inspire confidence and boost the morale in all allies within 10 feet if he chooses to expend his Chi power in that way.
In order to Center his mind, Andrew currently requires only that his body and soul be together and that he be able to breath. Thus, he cannot Center while holding his breath or while projected into another plane of existence. Also, too much noise or too much violence will break his concentration and any attempt to Center his mind under those circumstances will likely fail (at the GM's discretion).>
Andrew rushed towards the sound of the Arrow's movement. As he did so, the sounds of a fight could be clearly (but faintly)heard by all members of the party (except Tem, Prosper, and Acedia, who are in the Airship and are too far away to hear any of this). Captain Sealem said: "What was that?" Maria said: "To arms!"

As Tem, Prosper, and Acedia enter the room, they all realised that this was some sort of office room... but everything was designed for Gnomes. Gnome-sized desk, gnome-sized table, gnome-sized chairs. All the doors except the ones they had previously come through were gnome-sized; That is to say, considerably smaller than what one would expect to find in a normal human-sized house. Sitting behind the desk was a important-looking gnome sitting on a golden throne with two female gnomes flanking him on either side. The females were skimpily dressed and were holding platters heaped high with chocolates, fruits, candies, and savory delights of every kind. The Gnome got up and, as soon as the door closed behind Tem (who was following Prosper), the gnome broke out in laughter: "Ahhhhhh! The young officer is back, I see! Well, tell your mistress I have no more Gooseberries. She will have to wait until the next shipment, yes?"

Tem was confused. Why was this guy mistaking Prosper for someone he'd previously talked to? He couldn't psi this guy's brain at all, and he couldn't telepath to Prosper in this room. Aparantly, someone had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure that psionics couldn't be used in this room. Tem did not feel comfortable with this; He felt like a fish out of water.

Aceidia noticed that there were mouse-sized holes in one of the walls. Two of them, apparently chewed by a rodent of some kind.

Under different circumstances, Acedia would've found the miniature furniture somewhat cute, though even if she had been able to appear normally she wouldn't have said anything to that effect for fear of offending the Gnome. She was tempted to go and investigate the mouse-holes, if not just to find some food - she couldn't recall the last time she ate and this was a fairly high-stress situation. However, because the Gnome seemed to recognize Prosper (or at least whoever Prosper seemed to be), she just remained quietly on the disguised boy's shoulder, trying to partially hide herself under his hair (unless it's not long enough to do that, in which case disregard this clause).
