<Not so much jumped as teleported, but yes. Meet the Zombies.>

Oh, hooray. Zombies.

Both women completely ignored Eruantian's returning.

Taryn sighed and rummaged around in her little leather pouch a moment before withdrawing, Mary Poppins-like, a sickle that was far too large to be kept in a 5'x5'x1' bag. Taryn had found that a scythe was too slow to use against any significant number of the undead, but the sickle was perfect. A bit dull, though...

Acedia, meanwhile, was kind of at a disadvantage. Her particular style of fighting didn't really allow for decapitation and there's no other way to stop a Zombie. So she decided to sit this particular battle out, hanging out in Taryn's pouch. Acedia put the rat amulet on, and then Taryn picked up her friend and dropped her into the little leather bag, then went back to sharpening her sickle.

Marcus and Prosper made it back to the party just as Eruantian poofed back. The Lizzardman set down the Rogue and charged toward the zombies, aiming for the head, of course.

"AIM FOR THE HEAD! THAT'S THE ONLY WAY!"

<OOC> Don't be so certain about that. Read this.
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/ma ... htm#vorpal
Quote:
Vorpal

This potent and feared ability allows the weapon to sever the heads of those it strikes. Upon a roll of natural 20 (followed by a successful roll to confirm the critical hit), the weapon severs the opponent’s head (if it has one) from its body. Some creatures, such as many aberrations and all oozes, have no heads. Others, such as golems and undead creatures other than vampires, are not affected by the loss of their heads. Most other creatures, however, die when their heads are cut off. A vorpal weapon must be a slashing weapon. (If you roll this property randomly for an inappropriate weapon, reroll.)

</OOC>

The first thing Eruantian saw was a bunch of corpses coming towards him. "BANE'S BLOOD!" he shouted in horror "WHAT IS THAT THING!" The first thing he did was switch his golden teleportation ring with his flame throwing silver ring and began to hurl fire at the zombies as fast as he possibly could.

Horin grabbed a pendant, a symbol of his god, and held it in front of him, chanting something in Dwarvish, and advanced towards the zombies. He also grabbed his hammer, if things got uglier. He'd been told during training that this often frightened away zombies.

Some of the zombies shrieked and turned to ash as soon as Horin presented his holy symbol. The ones that survived were crispy from the fireballs that Eruantian was spewing forth, but they turned and shambled away, mumbling something about "brains" and "fire"

Maxwell said: "Wow! I didn't know you could do that, Horin. Um... do it again. Here come some more of those things."

Eruantian turned towards the second mob of walking corpses and unleashed more bursts of flame.

"Aye, ah shall indeed." Horin said, grinning with glee, and continued the chant towards the newcomers.

The second group of Zombies suffered a similar fate as the first group had.

Farnham said: "Where all all these Zombies coming from?"

Micheal said: "There must be a necromancer nearby. Or a litch. Possibly a vampire."

Maria said: "What about a graveyard?"

Micheal said: "No thanks, I'm not ready to die just yet."

:roll eyes:

When it looked like the Zombie threat was over for the moment, Eruantian took a moment to look around for his equipment.
"Okay, where's my stuff... Aha!... Ew." A dead arm was found on one of the bags.

<OOC> What happened to Horin's Wagon? If memory serves me correctly, that can not be tree walked. </OOC>

<Oh, I don't remember. Let's not get hung up on this.>

Maxwell said: "I think that's all of them. Let's move out before some more show up."

Tem said: "Right, follow me, everyone."

Tem led the party to a huge boulder laying next to a sheer cliff.

Tem said: "The secret entrance is behind there. There's just enough room between the boulder and the cliff face to slip in. We'll have to leave the wagon here, I guess."

<Sorry I went without telling anyone! I'm back now.>

Prosper spent the battle dodgeing and weaving in between Zombies stabing them when he could, just to keep them angry at him and not Horrin and the suddenly-returned Eruantian, the two most effective Zombie killers in the group.
I wonder where Eruantian's been. the boy wondered, when the party grouped at the boulder.

Taryn, being essentially impervious to fire, helped defeat the zombie menace with her sickle. Once that was taken care of, she took rat!Acedia out of her pouch, and once the rat was a girl again they followed the party to the boulder indicated by Tem.

<OOC>Details are a nuisance, aren't they? </OOC>

Without Horin's wagon, Eruantian would need some other way of easily moving the bags. He really needed a better way of carrying this stuff around. For the moment, Eruantian switched his flame throwing ring with the signet Strength-enhancing ring.

The unidentified magic wand was poking out of the one of the bags, and that reminded Eruantian that he had neglected to find out what it was. "Narluin" he addressed the ring "Scan that wand. Outline functions."

Narluin replied: "Scaning.... Scan complete. Scanned wand is a spent Wand Of Digging. It has zero charges remaining. Wand is of the type only usable by a Mage. Further information unavailable until the wand is recharged."

"Well, how do I recharge it?" Eruantian continued to ask.

Seeing the futility of his sword at beheading the zombies, Marcus began picking up big rocks and throwing them. With any luck he'd kill at least one.

"Watch out for flying rocks, you guys!"

The Zombies who were still active (but on fire) mumbled: "Brains?" and went :splat: as large rocks landed on them. Then the stopped mumbling. And shambling. And doing anything at all. (But some were still on fire).

As the party moved into the passage behind the boulder, they could see that it was a natural feature of the cliff face. The passage beyond was not carved or dug, but rather the result of some natural geological process. It seemed the rock face had split along a seam in the rock, only to later partially collapse in on itself, leave a gap in the rock that led inward. The floor of the passage was very rough and uneven, requiring much climbing, scrambling over rocks, bending down to get under the ceiling in places, and so forth. There was little light as they ventured further into the passageway, so Micheal cast his Fool's Glow spell and Maxwell lit his one remaining torch. Tem was in the lead, followed closely by Captain Sealem, and then Maria, Maxwell, Farnham, Micheal, and Coren.

<GM's Note: Feel free to insert yourself in the order of precedence there. It's not written in stone.>

Eruantian followed behind them with both his ring and his eyes lit up, just for good measure.

Marcus knocked out a few more flaming zombies and looked around for Prosper. "I sure hope the deadmen didn't get him. I'd better catch up with everyone else."

And so he did, quickly regrouping with the party. Although his kilt got in the way ever so often, Marcus was easily able to manuever through the difficult passageway with help of his tail, dark vision and incredible flexibility. Even with his great bulk, Marcus was quite the climber. A gymnast, even.

After a while, Marcus was right behind Tem. "Hey, big guy! I found yeh!"

Tem didn't turn around. He just said: "Hey guy. Not much further. There should be a iron gate up ahead. Just around that bend there...."

<OOC: The pelt was burnt by Andrew to avoid further distractions, just kidding that is way out of character, also this is also a visit so I will be gone after this post for a few days>

Andrew decided to be at the back of the party, so he would be in the front-line if there was an attack from behind.

<You don't remember ripping it to shreds??>

Prosper crept ahead, nimble and quick, through the winding passage, with his spear at the ready.
