Horin packed up his tent and put it back on his wagon, and then walked over to Auriel and Eruantian. "Would it be too much to ask for your name now?"

Aurieul was pulled from her inner thoughts at the sound of Horin's voice.

"Oh! How rude of me. I'm Aurieul. And you are?"

"Horin Hammerhand, Cleric and fighter, pleased to make your acquaintance." He stroked his beard. "What seems to be his problem now?"

"He was hit by an arrow. Some sort of poison I'd guess. He seems to think I'm his mother now." Aurieul could hardly believe it even as she said it. Her, a mother. Like she'd ever have that chance anyhow.

"And I assume you're not?" Horin said, giving her a huge wink.

Aurieul smiled. "Do I look old enough to be his mother?"

"Not at all, but I know nothing of him yet, he hasn't exactly been the most talkative chap."

"Well is there anything I can do to help you? With he and Maria you must have your hands full."

_________________

Maria chimed into the conversation, saying: "Oh, I feel fine, actually. That divine healing magic of Horin's is very efficient. I don't have any of my palidan powers back yet, but I have faith that Tyr will restore in time."

"Jarec" Eruantian called to Horin "We attempted to scout the cavern, though the caves are lined with traps - possibly from Kobolds..." Eruantian paused as if reflecting on something then continued "The two men we sent on the higher path were killed at the cavern's entrance - we know not how." If Tem were reading the half-elf's thoughts at that time, he might have noticed that Eruantian was refering to the two archers he had murdered in Eruantian's trance. "It is too dangerous to mine this part of the mountain" he added "Your colony should stay near the timberline."

Marcus went to Michael and Farnham.

"I'll carry your stuff on my back as usual. Is there anything else I can do?"

"Who? What?" Horin scratched his beard. "Oh, right, he's delusional." He said towards Maria and Auriel. "What if the Goblins came? They were in the trees last time we were there."

"Either way you depend on the lower lands for trade" Eruantian replied "Either way you deal with the goblins. Unless you want to scout another mountain, dwarf, I suggest you start your colony on a lower part of this one."

Maxwell laughed good-naturedly: "Oh, you know, the usual. Sniff out orcs and goblins, do the heavy lifting... that sort of stuff."

"Righty-o, sir!" Marcus saluted. He couldn't smell anything unusual...but he sure was hungry.

Prosper finished his work and walked to where Horrin and Maria were talking. "Are we ready?" he asked.

Aurieul answered, "I don't know about everyone else, but I've been ready since I got here."

Maria said: "Well, I'm wearing everything I own.. so I guess I'm good to go."

Drek nodded. "Yes, I'm all packed up."

Captain Sealem strode over: "It seems we're all ready to go. I suggest that Drek and Taryn scout ahead so as to forestall any unwanted hostile encounters whilst the rest of use stay close to the Horin's wagon. It should be safer that way. If we encounter orcs, we can use the wagon for cover."

Marcus ran up to the Captain. "Can I come with Drek an' Taryn to help 'em scout? I'm real strong, and I can sniff anything bad."

Sealem responded by saying: "Hrm...I don't know. What do you think, Drek? Would Marcus be of aid in your scouting, or would he of more use with the main body of the party? He is strong, but he's not a trained ranger like you, my prince."

"Marcus coming with Drek and I might just be a spectacular idea. I lack the sharp senses necessary to detect the presence of hidden enemies - I'm usually the one hiding, after all," Taryn interjected.

"I need some rest," Acedia mumbled weakly. She quickly swished the rat pendant around her neck and crawled into Horin's cart, wedging herself firmly among a group of containers so as not to fall out. The new power had given her an amazingly awful headache, which had in turn made her dizzy, which had in turn made her decide not to attempt to walk, so as not to inhibit the group's progress.

"I think it might be better if Marcus stayed back with the others." Drek said, "My ears are sharp enough, I should be able to find anyone that's hiding. Plus, I'd like to keep a low profile when we're scouting. And no offense, Marcus, but you're not the most stealthy guy around."

"Ah, but right now you must come with me, we have to leave, and I was ordered to watch you. We can worry about this later." Horin said. "I'm ready to go, We can put him in my wagon if you want."

"Orders to watch me" Eruantian inquired "Since when do you have gaurd duty? You're a dwarf lord - one whom I thought I had earned the trust of."

"Awww, come on, Drek! Pleeeeeeeeeeease?" Marcus begged rather pathetically, "I can be real quiet!"

"Good point, Drek," Taryn remarked with a shrug. "Although there's really no harm in Marcus coming along. We need not be stealthy. Others of my own kind dwell here. They are aware of us, and because I am here they will not come out of the woodwork, so to speak." A very, very faint rustling that could easily have just been wind sounded in the small clearing at this. "The only feasible route, considering the fact that we have a wagon, is via a path that takes us directly through the very heart of the woods. No one ever uses it, and the only threat present along this path are spectres, which I have already said will not harm us."
