The boy found a target, the Inn. Perfect! They'd have food aplenty! He'd only take enough to get him through the day though, he didn't want to destroy its profits. He found the window to the kitchen, wouldn't be to hard just a latch on the inside. He fliped it with his knife and slipped through. It looked like no one was in, perfect. He made his way straight to the breadloafs. |

Someone had already beat him to the bread, apparently. "Hey, get lost kid. You're gonna get me busted." A girl in red leather armor hissed quietly, several loaves in her arms. She could take this guy out if it came down to it... he hardly looked threatening. Her eyes darted down at the short sword hanging next to a ring shaped weapon on her belt. Not that she wanted it to come to that, but she wasn't going to let herself get jailed again. Not for something like this. <OOC: Tess carries a chakram if anyone wonders the name for future reference> |

"Lemme have just two of those and I'll be on my way" the boy said. He hated these types, greedy, selfish thives who thought only about others. He stole because he had to but he didn't let it become an obsession. |

Marcus smelled something bad--quite literally--in the ktchen. "Something's not too good in the kicthen...I'm going to check it out." Marcus carefully & quietly made his way toward the 2 thieves. |

Tess was currently too preoccupied to notice Marcus. "No way. Go rob the bakery or something, urchin-boy. I gotta hit the road and these have to last a while." She replied. Getting kicked out of towns was annoying enough as it was, she didn't need some starved kid bugging her for food. |

The "urchin boy" however, noticed a sound coming from the door behind the girl. Heavy feet, trying to be stelthy. He looked back at the theif, not wanting to get away without food. The top two loaves were a little loose. Acting quickly, he grabed them and made a break for the door, witch happend to be the way the other had got in, so it was unlocked. Luck. Pure, dumb luck. Thats how he got his name. |

Marcus, rather unstealthily, burst into the kitchen with his sword drawn. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?!" |

Thinking quickly, Drek grabbed his dagger, which he liked to keep with him in case of trouble, and followed Marcus into the kitchen. |

Acedia had scurried quickly out of the room behind the men and then made a break for the room a couple of rooms down the hall where the cot had originally been. She had a sneaking suspicion she'd left her garments in there. Sure enough, there they were - just as the medallion wore out. She was in the process of getting dressed as she transformed. And now she was faced with a dilemma. The rat form was the most useful for leaving the inn unnoticed. Her remaining working medallions were as follows: - Peregrine falcon. Pros: Fast, the longest-wearing, and she could kill some food on the way to...wherever. Cons: Not native to the region; somewhat conspicuous. - Black panther. Pros: Silent, reasonably camoflaged in the murky shadows of the nearby(?) woods, and few people would approach it out of fear. Cons: Also not native to the region, and the usual first reaction to a big cat - with malevolent intent or not - is "OMG kill it." - Gray spider. Pros: Small; inconspicuous. Cons: Small; insignificant. Then again, she'd learned to exit the gray spider form before the magic ran out, so after a short period of deliberation, Acedia made the decision to take the form of the grey spider to get outside the inn via the window, and then return to this humanoid form and leave town as an anonymous drifter. The only thing about this plan was it involved disrobing (again) and dropping her clothes into a heap on the ground under the window. It could take a little while to get down there as a tiny spider. But, then again, there really weren't any better options. So, securing the inn room's door, Acedia donned the medallion and slipped out of the dress again, even as she felt herself shrinking and doubling in number of appendages. She barely managed to push the ball of cloth out the window, but did, and quickly scurried up the wall, over the windowsill, and down the outside wall again. {}{}{: I promise the rediculous length of these posts will decrease. :}{}{} |

Marcus smelled a human...a thief. These kinds of people always smelled bad. Well, at least to a lizzard. To a human, they smelled like any other person. With his sword raised, Marcus slowly approached the boy. "Who are you? What are you doing in here?" |

IantheGecko wrote: Marcus couldn't find a soul in the kitchen, just Acedia's clothes. He sniffed them, and they seemed to have a mix of different scents.
"This is odd, Drek. These clothes smell like...*sniff*...A human...*sniff*...A falcon...*sniff* A large cat of some kind...*sniff* And a bug. Spider." OOC: Acedia wasn't the one in the kitchen, Tess (Jenny) was. |

Unfortunatly for him, the boy tripped about 10 feet from the door.He felt a sharp pain in his right ankle. Sprained. He looked behind him. Great, an overgrown lizard with a sword, and someone else behind him. He couldn't outrun them now. He'd be caught by either the theif, the lizard, or the other. The only option left was fight,He pulled out his small dagger, and turned to face whichever assailent came first. He could kill if he had to, but he prayed it wouldn't come to that. |

{}{}{: I don't blame him - Acedia and Jenny are really close names. :}{}{} Acedia managed to make it down to the ground relatively quickly, exiting the spider form and slinking into her clothes for the second time that day. Of course, she never could suppress her curiosity, and thus upon walking around and behind a couple of other buildings (so as not to appear to be coming from the tavern) and then toward the tavern again, she couldn't help but stop and watch the events unfolding before the establishment. A boy had run outside and fallen over, and by the look on his face, was being persued. |

Marcus came after the boy-thief with his sword & pinned him against the wall outside. He raised the sword, setting the tip of the blade on the edge of the boy's lip. "What are you doing here?" |

As Marcus ran outside, Drek confronted the woman. Unfortunately, his bow was still up in the room, so he only had his dagger. "Maxwell, Farnham, get down here!" he yelled out. "Trouble!" |

<sorry 'bout the delay> Thinking quickly, Tess shoved the bread she was holding back on the shelf. "Well it's good you guys got here. I caught this kid trying to steal bread." She pointed at the boy. |

Marcus, who was outside, overheard Tess tattling on the boy. "Guess you need other people to talk for you, don't you? So you're a thief. You must be hungry." Marcus ran the tip of his blade down to the kid's stomach, which growled right as he touched it. |

Tess glared at Drek in annoyance. "You calling me a liar, buster? This is what I get for trying to stop a crime in progress. See if I ever try to do a good deed again." She straightened her leather armor indignantly and attempted to sidestep past him again. |

"Oh yeah, right. How does that work, lizard lips? I suppose you're gonna tell me you can smell when somebody's lying, too. Alls I have to say to that is if you could smell half as good as you claim, maybe you'd wear some perfume to cover up that musty reptile stench." Tess smirked. |
