Eruantian dwelled on these thoughts for a moment and came to a realization: it was not he, but his ring that was a part of this grand purpose. "I'm not even an important piece to this puzzle, am I" he inquired "It's all about the ring, not me. It is mine by mere chance, isn't it? I'm not a descendant of some long-forgotten, arctic, elven race, am I?"

Tyr replied: "The ice powers built into the ring are there to assist the ring-bearer. You have tapped but a fraction of the powers inherent in the ring. For example, your ring can change the weather; it can freeze and ocean, or it can make snow fall on a summer's day. What you experienced in the ring was real. It was not a malfunction, it was something created by your mind.
As for your "balderdash", I would submit to you that you cannot see the bigger picture here: Eons before your were born; before I existed, before the world you know had humans on it, an interloper from another universe visited the planet that would eventually become your homeworld. That interloper was essentially good, and he was unaware that his presence was unbalancing this universe. The gods who existed in that era eventually convinced that interloper to give up his existence for a new existence. Now, he is part of the ring your bear."

"Tell me, Tyr..." Eruantian demanded "... how did I get this ring? My foster parents gave it to me when I came of age... just before the... accident... that much I know. But how did it come to me?"

Tyr replied: "That is a tale that take too long to tell if I were to do justice to the history of the ring, honoured mortal. Instead I shall merely be concise: You are the first moral to access the Ring's powers since the time the Elves now call the 'Great Cataclysm.' At that time, an ancestor of yours called Barek of Bernuoumere held the ring. He used the same ring you now wear, as well as other things, to seal the Drow in the Underdark. He wove magics the same way your friend Micheal now does, and in the end he died defeating an invasion of Demons from the Pit, sacrificing his own life to save his friends. The demons then held the ring, and fought over control of it until they did not know why they were fighting over it anymore. The ring then found its way to necromancer who foolishly sold his soul to a demon for the ring. Neither the demon nor the necromancer suspected the real nature of the ring, and in the end both perished by the other's hand. After that, the ring sat at the bottom of the Great Sea until a Mermaid found the ring and gave it to a Elven merchant out of love. That Merchant was your Great Great Great Great Grandfather, Albian of Suldeneselar. It has been, as you say, a 'family heirloom' ever since. Does that answer your question to your satisfaction?"

However, the ring itself demands that I not tell you, for to be worth of the rings powers you must discover them for yourself. Never the less, you should be aware that the ring is not limited to merely manipulating ice and water... there are other aspects of it's nature that you shall discover in time. If you remember nothing else from what I have said, remember this: The essence of an interloper from another universe lies dormant within your ring. To cross the spaces between universes is something no god has the power to do; not Ao, not the Oakfather, not Selune, and not I. If the interloper could cross between universes, imagine what else he could do. Imagine, for example, that he could cross vast distances in the blink of an eye, or that he could resurect the dead, or move through solid rock. You would do well to imagine these things, for in his time as a dezien of these planes of existence he could do all that and more. That is all I can say on the matter.
Time grows short, and you must return to your own plane soon. I have gathered your companions together in my mind, and I will hurry you on your way now... no, wait.. the planes move... another god comes... and he in not a friend. Mortals, we are under assualt!"
Suddenly the ground shook and the snow became cold... and Tyr left the body of his Palidan, who immediately fell to her knees. She gasped out "Something's wrong... Tyr was alarmed before he left my body. Auriel...another god, an evil god, is coming for you! There's not time to explain. Quickly, I can get you back to the Prime Material but I need to find the spot where you first materialised in this place. Show me, quickly. It's our only chance."

Aurieul ran to the point she thought Eruantian and her were standing when they first arrived. "Here!"

<OOC>I know I said I'd be gone all weekend, but plans have been delayed. So instead of being gone as of last night, I'm leaving in about an hour to drive an hour and a half to get Jones so we can actually start our vacation. Stupid planes cancelling flights! Okay, I'm good now. Carry on.</OOC>

Maria said: "Tyr has delayed our attackers. I must open the portal between the planes and send you though, but I will need an anchor on the other side. Ask your healer to cast "Sanctuary" upon the projected image he sees. That will give me the point of reference I need."
As she finished speaking, the ground shook again, this time violently enough to make Eruntian stumble. He was falling over....

Prosper was watching with great interest. He was learning snatches of Eruantian's time in the ring, but instead of being satisfied his curiosity was aroused all the more. When Tyr and his Palidin warned of incoming danger Prosper wished he could help. He would've told Horrin of what Maria said, but that would be stating the obvious.

Captain Sealem, Franham, Maxwell and Drek had finished filling the water barrels. With the barrels all loaded into Horin's wagon they started to head back to camp.

Horin saw something. "Think that's it?" He asked, more for the sake of saying something than asking a question. He cast "Sanctuary" on the image he saw, still not knowing fully if it would work. It all seemed so knew, even after being trained for this. He thought how strange it was that he was on a mission to avenge his father's death, and here he was, trying to get two half-Elves out of another dimension. No time to think about it now, he had to concentrate.

... and landed flat on his back and he lost his grip of the ring, which sent it flying upward. When it came back down, he tried to catch it, but it kept slipping and bouncing from one hand to the other <OOC>in very cartoon-ish way</OOC>.

Taryn, rather than watching the ground with fervent interest like everybody else, was curled up into a ball just outside the group. Looking at the image made her feel nauseated, for some reason.

Acedia was concerned for her friend, but at the same time curious about what was going to happen - especially now that it appeared to be getting to the good part, so to speak, and so remained with the rest of the group. She did look over every minute or so to see how Taryn was doing, though. Yay.

A squirrel hopped over to Taryn and climbed up on her shoulder. The stupid creature was promptly set on fire.

As Horin cast "Sanctuary" on the image he felt a strange power flow through him. The spell seemed to have a will of it's own, and as he finished casting it his faith in his god was as sure as it had been the day his first took his vows. He felt invigorated, confident, and happy... perhaps even a little giddy. The spell did something to the image of Eruntian and Aurieul and the female Palidan. They shimmered and became fuzzy, and then the image was gone... and the three were standing there in the flesh!

Micheal's mouth was was wide open in disbelief. He'd never seen such a elegant display of magical power.. except perhaps that time that that Suldenesilarian arch-mage scared off an entire army of orcs... but still it was darn impressive. For a moment, he wished he was a cleric; And then he remembered he'd dropped his spellbook in the dirt. He blurted out "Oh crap, my spellbook!" and ran back in a panic to make sure it was safe and that some wild animal hadn't pecked at the pages.

West, oblivious to Taryn's plight or the BBQ squire sitting on her shoulder, said: "Hey, do you smell something burning?"

"Squirrel. You want the little bugger?" Taryn tossed the very well-done body of the squirrel in West's general direction. "Enjoy." She didn't really care if West wanted the squirrel or not. Taryn brushed a small dusting of ashes off of her shoulder and scrunched into an even smaller ball, attempting to cover her head with her arms.

Acedia yelped slightly when Eruantian and Aurieul and some other lady basically popped out of the ground. She blinked a few times. "Who's your friend?" she asked, in the general direction of Eruantian and Aurieul.

{ Are Eruantian and Aurieul still wearing the strange clothes that they were wearing in the pocket dimension, for whatever reason? }

Horin didn't notice the shocked expression on Micheal's face, he was too busy wondering who the heck the newcomer was. "Who are you?" He asked Auriel, the shocked expression on his face coming through in his voice as well.

Eruantian, being a somewhat disoriented from the transit, paused to observe his surroundings. But after a few moments, he remembered his lack of a firm grasp on the ring before they returned. The ring was not in his hand! "Where's it gone" He panickly asked himself as he searched his person. Discovering that the ring was not in his pockets, on the chain, in his hands, or stuck in his hair(it has happened before), he searched the ground around him shouting "Where is it?! I've lost it! Where could it possibly be?!"

<OOC>The ring could be stuck in the pocket dimension, or Aurieul could be standing on it. </OOC>

Aurieul suddenly found herself faced by a few friends and a number of folks she hadn't met before. And Eruantian was freaking out. "What's missing? The ring? Weren't you holding it?" Aurieul began to check the ground in case he had dropped it during the ... whatever had happened. Aurieul wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

Maria said: "I saw that you dropped it when you fell down during the land-shaking. I didn't have time to go back and grab it; If I had broken my concentration long enough to grab it or tell you that it had dropped, the spell I was casting would have been broken and we three would likely have been trapped in that place, hostage of some evil deity. I managed to lock onto the ring and pull it through the portal when we came through, so it must be in this world somewhere. My connection to Tyr is fading, and I seem to be becomeing mortal again. Somehow, though, I know that the Ring has found it's way to a friend.. to a mountain with a dwarven forge... and a elven smith... and a White Dragon. Do you know of such a place?"

Horin seemed to get lost in the commotion. "You lost your ring?" He said. "The one that burned up one of my gloves?" He said."And who are you?" He asked Auriel, looking more confused than he had ever before.

Prosper was also confused. "Who is she?" he asked with Horrin, pointing to Auriel.
