Somm-1 wrote: What Eruantian found was someone unfamiliar to him. He saw a lady... An elf lady..."An Elf?" he thought to himself "What is she doing all the way out here?". But then, Eruantian noticed the girl was holding a dagger at something... It was Tem! "I knew there something not right about that dirty Flayer" Eruantian thought to himself. When the elf lady ran towards Eruantian's direction, Eruantian pulled out his sword, ran between the lady and Tem, then stood and shouted "Get back, flayer!" He pointed his sword directly at Tem with both hands and said "Stay away from her, Tem. I won't let you lay a tentacle on her."
"Oh! It's okay, I know him. I was just returning his dagger. ... Who are you?" Aurieul had never seen this man before. He must have joined up with the group in Targos. But why was he hiding his ears? (Assuming you're still trying to hide the fact you're a half-elf with your strange hat.) |

About then, Drek returned to the camp with the geese and eggs. "I found breakfast!" he announced as he entered the clearing. His eyes widened as he saw who was there. "Aurieul! Where have you been?" |

I'll save the story until everyone's here. No need to tell it more than necessary. I'd rather not think about it." <OOC>I forgot to mention that Aurieul looks slightly worse for wear, though much improved from the day before. Prosper was following Horrin and West on the quest for water. So far noting had happened. "When do you think we'll find something?" Prosper moaned. |

But why was he hiding his ears? (Assuming you're still trying to hide the fact you're a half-elf with your strange hat.) <OOC>Eruantian's hat, along with everything but the shirt on his back and his magic ring, was eaten by umberhulks. The only other items he has are the sword that Farnham confiscated from Frankie and what few coins were recovered from the disembowled corpse of an umberhulk. However, if one assumes that Eruantian's hair is anything like mine in real life, he could conceivably hide the points of his ears, even unintentionally. </OOC>
"You... know him?" Eruantian asked as if puzzled. He had seen the unsavory lot that Tem seemed to be used to associating with, but this lady, though a bit roughed up, did not seem the type. "Oh... Uh... sorry about that, Tem" he hesitantly apologised as he pulled back some of the hair around one of his ears to wipe the sweat off "My name is Eruantian, Miss..." <OOC> One thing I would like to point out that I couldn't properly narrate is that Eruantian would not have apologised had he been wearing the ring long enough. That personality would consider apologising unnecessary, unexpected, and unrequired for an act believed to be right at first, but realised to be an error of judgement then voluntarily ceased before causing harm. To use the colloquialism, "No harm, no foul", and that is to be recognized by both the potential victim and the potential offender. Unnecessary apologies might even be considered an insult. </OOC> |

After a bit of configuring, a fairly triumphant Taryn and a fairly pained Acedia emerged into the clearing, gladly putting down the water box. Thankfully, there was a path to the stream leading from the camp - it had just been a bit overgrown and thus easily masked from view. "We found a stream," Acedia announced, rubbing one of her shoulders. "It's a short jaunt north of here, and there's even a path," she continued, sitting down on an old stump. She was totally oblivious to Aurieul's presence at the moment. |

Aurieul turned back from Drek just in time to see Eruantian's ears and became momentarily distracted. "Hmm? Oh, Aurieul. Pardon my stare, I'm still not used to seeing others who look like me. Are you a full elf like Drek?" |

Captain Sealem came up to Aurieul, bowed, and said (in Speritheil): "Fair welcome, fair maiden. Allow me to introduce myself to one as fair as you: I am Captain Sealem of the Suledeselar Imperial Guard. Peace at our meeting." <Captain Sealem is assuming that Aurieul (obviously an Elf) understands and speaks Speritheil (because it is the native language of the Elves). However, since Aurieul knows little of Elven culture she probably didn't understand any of what Captain Sealem just said, though she might have a vague understanding that it was Speritheil. Drek recognizes that Captain Sealem is using the "formal greeting" style of conversation, such as one would use when addressing someone one hopes to make a good impression on. In other words, he's showing proper Elven hospitality to a stranger because that's what his culture expects of him. The flowery language is normal, for Speritheil anyways.> Maxwell and Farnham came up behind Captain Sealem and Maxwell said: "Aurieul! My gosh, I thought we'd lost you. It's good to see you again!" |

"I'm afraid not" Eruantian replied "I might have asked you the same thing, but it might not have been the most polite thing to ask a lady." Eruantian didn't know much about talking to women, but he did see what happened to a guy who asked one of Sam's barmaids her weight and another her age. It was not something pleasant to think about. In response to Tem's reply, Eruantian thought to himself "What the?... Oh, right... He's a psion... I hate telepathy... Wait, he could have heard that. Eruantian, having no experiance with women, thought that it might have been something he said, so he did what any guy who always shuts himself up in his house to work would do; he began to slowly and quietly back himself up behind the other guys. "I guess it WAS impolite..." he thought to himself "I knew should have kept my mouth shut."

Acedia, who was now aware of Aurieul's presence, stood up and looked at her for a moment, attempting to divine the reason for her tears. Realizing it was very likely just a girl thing, she couldn't help but chuckle at Eruantian's reaction - priceless, pure and simple. Taryn had lost her sense of empathy, however, and could care less if Aurieul was crying for something, you know, serious. She didn't recognize Aurieul from anywhere, either, not that she should or anything. For those reasons, she just kind of stared half-amusedly at the small throng of people, with an eyebrow raised. |

"You are," Acedia replied simply. "You didn't do anything. I get the distinct feeling that she's just a bit overwhelmed. She isn't upset, or at least you didn't do anything to upset her, as far as I could tell. Women cry for inane reasons sometimes...it's just one of those things that we do, and watching men react is cheap entertainment." |
