Maxwell built a fire and started to boil some water for tea.

Maxwell turned to West & Malt: "Taryn's blast cleared out a lot of the mushrooms, but there's still a whole lot of them lying around. Say, Malt, are these things edible?"

"I've been living off them for years. Granted I do get constipation from time to time." replied Malt.
"I don't eat 'em, but I do sleep under them!" said West.
Then West turned around and went under a mushroom to doze off. Malt just stood wide eyed and stared into the sky.

Horin quickly set up his tent, working to make Michael comfortable on one of his bedrolls, then making his own ready.

Eruantian decided to take off his ring and sleep next to one of the fires. Unfortunately, he had no bedrole to lie on, so he would have to lie on the scorched soil. As the hours passed in the night and the ring personality faded away, Eruantian would think more and more of what he lost over the past few days. Everything he had worked so hard for: his house, his horse, his wagon, everything was gone. "Up in flames..." Eruantian thought to himself "Everything went up in flames... just like last time..."

With the fire going and the tea hot, Mexwell and Fanrham set up their tents. "Imagine" said Maxwell "We came all this way and this is the first time we've had to use the tents."

Farnham replied: "You know, there's enough room in one of these for two people. Why don't I lend Eruntian mine and we'll share yours."

Maxwell said: "OK, but what about Acedia? I don't think she has a tent either."

Farnham said: "Hrm... we can't have her double with Eruntian. Wouldn't be... proper."

Maxwell said: "Well, then give Acedia your tent and I'll ask Captain Sealem if he can double up with Eruntian."

Farnham nodded. "Good idea. Come on, let's finish this one and then we can start on the other."

In short order, they had both tents up. Farnham went over to Acedia and said: "Evening, Miss Acedia. Say, you wouldn't be in need of a tent, would you? I'm sharing Maxwell's tent, so you can have mine if you want."

Tem smacked the rest of his team. "Get up. You didn't miss much." he said, "so, I think that you should decide: Stay or Go? I know you all have families and no attachment whatsoever to this group. But I do. I'll stay."
"Tem, we were discussing it too. We think we need to go. We're tired. We should rest." said Ixleflerb.
"I think we also just have no reason to stay here." said Bob.
"I respect that. Go." said Tem.
Then, his squad shimmered on to their final reward.

West poked his eye open to see Malt still looking up at the sky.
"Malt, when will you learn that there is nothing that will come falling from the sky?"said West impatiently.
"My mother told me that the sky has all the answers, and I'm not sure if we made the right decision going with these people. I just need an answer, and it should take me all night to find out if it's worth it."replied Malt.
"Whatever pal." said West as he dozed back off.

{ Your characters are adorable, Wes. XD }

"As a matter of fact, I do need a tent," Acedia replied. "Thank you for your generosity - I had every intention of simply toughing it out under this tree here, but a tent is infinitely preferable." She smiled and got to her feet, glad to not have to sleep on the outskirts of the campsite simply for lack of a temporary shelter. Hooray!

Taryn had come forward and was now seated cross-legged in front of the fire, supporting her chin on one hand which was itself braced on her knee. She stared at the undulating flames pensively, with an expression that was either boredom or wistfulness. Difficult to tell. But she was definitely thinking about something.

{ Message from the mun: whatever she's thinking about, it's bound to have a good story behind it. }

Farnham poured some tea for himnself, and anyone else who wanted some. In his pack he had a pair of tin cups, a tin bowl, a metal fork, a metal spoon, and pocketknife. He proceeded to lay these out on a flat rock he had found, and then he filled the bowl with a pre-packaged mix of grains, oilseeds, dried beans, lentals, dried carrot slivers, dried beef bonestock, beef fat cubes, salt, yeast, and nuts. Then he poured hot water from the kettle into the bowl and stirred vigorously. Soon, he had a flavorfull (if somewhat thin) bowl of soup stock. He tasted it. "Blegh.. needs more rabbit. Or perhaps pheasant. Or some sort of meat at any rate. We'll have to hunt for some game tomorrow or this is gonna be a very dreary journey." He pulled a hard biscuit out of a tin of biscuits he had in his backpack and dipped it into the soup stock, and then ate the biscuit. He mumbled "I'd forgotten how hard these things are. No need for rocks, I've got a tin of hard biscuts right here. Long may it sustain me."

Farnham yawned and pulled a sack of nuts out his backpack. He put one in a little metal box he produced from under his cloak and poked it into the coals of the fire with green tree branch.
"Ah, the wilderness. And me, roasting nuts by the fire, just like when I was a boy. Yes, this is the life, eh Taryn?"

The sun was nearly touching the horizon now. In a few hours it would be dark.

Tem was off in a corner, making tombstones for his team. He allowed himself to shed a single tear, but no more. He walked over to Horin's wagon to munch on his bag contents. "I'll have some tea" he said.

Horin came up beside him. "I would like some as well." He said, leaving to go to his nearby wagon to get a crust of bread. "Where did that blasted loaf go?" He wondered aloud, not being able to find it. "I guess tea will have to be enough. Something rustled at his feet. Looking down, he saw a small snake, slithering toward the fire. "Anyone care for some snake?" He said towards Farnham.

Farnham replied: "Sure. We can roast it over the fire. You skin it and gut it, I'll make the thatch-grill."
He grabbed is pocketknife and started making a set of roasting sticks out of a pile of Poplar Tree branches. He stripped the bark off and made tie-offs from the bark, and then tied the now-barkless sticks together in a thatch-ish pattern. In the end he had something that the snake-meat could roast on without getting burnt.

"Okay." And Horin grabbed one of his throwing axes, and threw it at the snake, cutting it's head off cleanly. He then proceeded to clean it. <OOC> I'll spare the details</OOC> He then walked over and set the snake down on a rock near the fire. "I'm going to clean my hands." He said, and walked over to his wagon, pouring ale over them since there was no water.

Taryn, upon hearing her name, snapped out of her reverie. She sat up straight and looked around for a second before seeing Farnham. "Hm? What? I'm sorry, my mind was...elsewhere. What did you say?"

Soon, there was enough roast snake meat and whatnot for everyone to have some. Farnham shared his tea and his hard biscuts and his soup (such as it was).

"Mmmm... tasty. Well, we'll need more water soon. My waterskin is almost dry, and Horin's casks of ale won't last too long. I suppose we should look for a stream or a river or something like that. Too bad there's no maps of this region. But then, that's why we have Drek and Taryn with us, eh? And I guess Acedia could fly up and see if she can see a river. Say, Acedia, how high can you fly, anyways?"

"No, thank you," Taryn said, declining Farnham's offer of nuts.

"I've never actually, um, measured, but I suppose I can fly high enough to be able to spot a river among these trees," Acedia said, looking up to gauge how tall the trees around her were.

Prosper woke up. He sighed. Already? He tried to get back to sleep, but found it impossible. Grunting, he got out of the tent and joined everyone at the fire.
"What's to eat? It smells good." he said.

"Look a star!" yelled Malt as he starred into the sky. Sure enough there was a meteorite blazing across the heavens.
"It's so close!" said West as he jumped up out of his restful pose under a fallen mushroom.
Then it came toward the campsite, and as it got closer you could see it was a rock, flaming, and smoldering. Then it hit the ground, and landed right beside Malt. Inside was a large rock and it was very shiny. Malt just stood dumbfounded while West ran with the jewel towards everyone else.
"Look at this!" he yelled as he waved it in the air. Malt just stood looking at the sky more intensely than ever.

"Delicious." said Prosper sarcastically. "Nothing like roots and devils for a body's needs. Pass some over." He smiled. This may have been an interesting few days, but at least now they had a chance to rest.

"Will do," Acedia said with a decisive nod and a smile. She partook of some snake meat, having never very much liked mushrooms.

Taryn, who ate only for pleasure and not for sustenance, declined to partake of this meal and allowed those who did eat for sustenance to have a bit more.

"Funny what memories come up when you're in the middle of nowhere with a group of people you hardly know," she remarked suddenly, after a moderately long period of staring in silence at the fire. "My family would love this."

"Familly?" mumbled Prosper though a mouthful of snake. He also had declined the mushrooms, at least for the moment. He continued; "I wasn't aware that mystical beings had famillies."

Horin grabbed a bit of snake meat and a bit of mushroom, which he ate quickly. He then walked over and got a mug of ale from his wagon. "I'll best be going to bed then, thank you for the help earlier." He said to no one in particular, getting a bedroll out of his wagon, putting it in his tent, and he fell asleep almost instantly. <OOC> I wish I could</OOC>
