Marcus bashed the wall and bashed it good. He bashed like a lizzardman should.

The Wall did splinter, the wall did crack, and it fell to the ground with a resounding "smack"

Upon the dastardly kidnapers he fell, attacking and cursing and raising a smell.

Acedia and Taryn heard the noise, and prepared to frighten these unsuspecting boys. They started to shimmy, they started to shake, the started to open the doors, and this they didn't fake!

The Lizzardboy drew his sword and waited for more orders. He wanted to slash up some humans good.

The kidnappers were caught totally by surprise. They had been expecting someone to try and come through the doors of windows, not the freeking wall! The one standing over body of Maxwell said: "What the heck? Get that lizzardman, boys!"

Marcus, his bulging muscles tense, leapt forward at the Bad Guys™ and attacked them with his sword. His fighting skills were definitely improved, as the kidnappers had a hard time even touching him.

{ Thought you'd mix things up a bit with some poetry, did ya, Sarge? XD }

Taryn and Acedia burst through their respective doors just a split second after Marcus. The black panther that was Acedia (most likely unwisely) chose a club-armed henchmen to be her first target and sprung at him; Taryn used her long, hookéd arms to slash out at the nearest of the supposedly-unarmed guards.

From Captain Sealem's place of concealment came one word: "Now!"

With that, he and Tem, Farnham, Squad One, and the rest all sprung forward and charged the livery stable.

By now one of the kidnappers was dead from quite a few sword SHINGings. And the other guys weren't too happy about that.

Indeed, they weren't happy. However, Captain Sealem's plan was working, so far. The kidnappers had been taken by surprise, and those that weren't engaged with Marcus in combat were scared out of their wits by Acedia's panther form and Tayrn's... uh.. scary form. Most importantly, none of the kidnappers were trying to kill Maxwell.

Acedia had burst through the back door in panther form to find that the back-door guard was fairly leaping out of skin at the sight of her.

A similar experience greeted Taryn when she went through the front (barn) doors.

For the moment, Captain Sealem's group was still crossing the distance from their place of concealment near the house tolivery stable yet. However, Tem's bow-wielding friends had a clear shot at the kidnappers, as did Micheal.

Acedia's technique was considerably less flashy than Marcus's, and consisted of tackling an opponent and then proceeding to bite and claw his face and neck to shreds. :3

If the face of a stilken could convey boredom (which it really can't - all it can clearly convey is a sense of mindless, raging hunger and malice), Taryn would look quite bored indeed, currently engaged with the sword-bearing goon. Why not just cut his hands off now and save time? she thought, and no sooner had the idea come to her than she lashed out with her other hook, aiming precisely for the man's wrist.

Then, Tem and Bob donned their outfits. "Delinquents, I hath come for theeeee..." said Tem in a creepy voice. He did a flurry of movements with his scythe, chopping one guy's weapon to pieces. Ixleflerb loosed a jolt on another, and Fornechk fired a bolt into a spleen of one. Bob, however, was in the shadows. Seconds later she appeared behind a Bad Guy and slashed his achilles tendon.

Marcus was the one who really ruled the room. To make this scene safe for children, let's just say that the bad guys didn't want to hold Maxwell hostage anymore. Marcus held his sword across the necks of the 2 leaders of the kidnappers.

Captain Sealem and his men arrived in the stable, only to see that the rest of the group had the situation well in hand. None of the kidnappers were in any shape to be putting up a fight anymore... although only two of them were actually intact at this point. The Captain brndished his longsword: "ATTENTION! You men are under arrest for the kidnapping and assault of Maxwell of Glenarbor. You can expect a quick and mercifully hanging if you co-operate. Otherwise, my friends here will provide you with a long, bloody and agonizing end. Which will it be?"

The two remaining men; terrorized, intimidated, and feeling more then a little insecure, dropped their weapons and put up their hands.

Sealem bent down and examined Maxwell: "He is alive, Farnham! Come, let us get Maxwell outside. Squad, hang the prisoners by the rafters and then join us outside."
Captain Sealem's men proceeded to scavenge some rope from the around the stables, and then began to fashion nooses while the rest of the group kept watch on the prisoners.

Fanrham and Sealem picked up Maxwell and carried him out of the Stables and into the sunlight. The set him down on the cobblestoned street. Sealem bandaged his wounds: "Would that I had some salve or some ointment. Still, he is breathing well and he's not bleeding much. It could have been much worse."
Farnham said: "Hang on, brother. You're gonna be alright."

Taryn, still in stilken form and deciding to let Marcus have his fun, had quietly slunk back away from the fight and was quietly chewing on an arm or something when Sealem and Farnham came in and put an official end to the bloodbath. Acedia had done basically the same thing, snacking on some entrails. The shapeshifted women exited the stable the same way they'd come in (if slower and with less of an intent to kill), and promptly exited the forms that they had manifested themselves in. A slightly bloody Acedia tucked the silver panther medallion into her pocket; Taryn simply transformed, leaving the arm behind.

"I could do with a bath," Acedia remarked, looking at her hands and the blood on her dress. "That was fun, though."

After investigating the scene Oseph finds that there was either a lot of commotion before or after the building demise. He also, notices that debris is spread far and wide. This puzzled him.

How can a building be burned to the ground, but debris be scattered everywhere? Also, why were there so many prints. Was there a brawl? But, where had the bodies gone if that was so? How could they have all been cleaned up, for fire was still burning amongst the debris. Then, he noticed organized tracks leaving the scene.

This was of course the way to his answer, but it seemed that something unusual was at the end of the path. He did what his instincts told him. He searched for someone with answers as to what might be at the end of that trail.

Oseph mounted Nirvana and headed off towards the market. Afterall, that is the best place to get info. Besides a Tavern of course, but the town seemed to be in a short supply of those now.

Oseph arrived at the market and saw a strapping young gentlemen of good stature. He seemed to be around the ripe age of 24 and a good strong knowledgeable man. The man was unloading some produce from his wagon as Oseph approached.

"Excuse me sir, may I inquirest from you how that Tavern down the street was destroyed?", asked Oseph curiously.

"Ye may, stranger, but I fear I shall not be of much help t' ye. I did see it explode, but I as to what caused the explosion... I canna say. A bloody shame, for 'twas the best tavern in these parts."

Just as Ospeh was about to say something to the man withb the produce wagon, he caught sight of a man-sized lizzard and creeping along the rooftops of a nearby row of houses.

"Was that a man-sized lizard just crawling along the roofs there?!", Oseph replied amazed. "I do believe that I just saw a man-sized lizard."

Oseph, could hardly speak. He had heard of animal humanoids before, but never had he seen one. Oseph was fumbling around with his words, he didn't know what to say. Finally, he decided to see where this, "lizard-man", went.

"I'm terribly sorry to leave you like this good sir, but I must ride. Thank you much for your assistance!" He said as he swung up onto his horse. "Good day!"

He started off towards the end of the street. When he reached the end, he noticed the same group of prints along the road. Oseph dismounted, he was not ready for trouble. Especially the kind that left a marvelous tavern destroyed and mangled far and wide.. For one of the first times in his life, he was afraid.

Why am I so afraid? I have yet to fail anything I have set my mind too, basically that is, I have failed, but it was little...Bah'! ... The ignorant king said that when I did become afraid, I was to back away, and ignore it. Did he mean to ignore the fear, or the source of the fear? Wait! What am I doing?! Thinking of taking advice from that stupid man!

After debating whether he should go to this source of trouble or to just leave it be until he knew more about the party, he decided to survive. Get more information on this strange party and then set out to see if they are enemies or allies. This was his plan, but first, he would need a place to stay. Oseph mounted onto the back of Nirvana and went back to the market. He found the man he had previously talked to.

"Hello again, I have decided against going to look after that creature. I'm not familiar enough with this area to start any trouble. You know?" Oseph said kindly. "Now, would you be so kind in pointing me in the direction of a place that I may stay for a short time? It will also need a place for my horse to stay."

Horin loaded the barrels and cooler into the wagon, along with the board that made up his desk and his cots, which conveniently slid underneath it inside two slots. "Let me just get some herbs and then I'm ready to go." And headed back into his tent, and came out with a wooden box that had strange marks on the top.

[OOC: FYI, that's not Marcus. He's still in the house-place-thingy.]

Marcus raised his sword behind his head in triumph. "Now THAT's what I call a BATTLE!"

The Lizzardboy strode up to Tem and patted the Flayer's arm. "Nice work we did, huh?"

"Ahem, we helped, you know," Taryn and Acedia said, loudly and in unison. They were a number of feet - possibly yards - away from Marcus, after all, and perfectly within earshot.

Prosper thanked him and blanked out for a moment. He came to and realized that he was still holding a mug of steaming hot tea. He sipped it and his eyes widened. Whatever was in this tea was incredibly strong! The firey liquid raced through him, radiating from the core of his body to his extemities. It seemed particularly feirce on his injured arm. He coughed, took another sip and asked; "What's in this? It's amazing!!" He was fully awake now.

With the successful rescue of Maxwell, it seemed to Eruantian that he would not be needed for the moment. This left him open to ponder his current situation. It did not take long to for him to discover quite a few inconveniences.

For starters, he had no idea where his wagon or the rest of his equipment were: his swords, tools, armor, even his hat and coat. Being so ill equipped always made Eruantian feel vulnerable to unpredicted circumstances. To locate his belongings, Eruantian had some distance to cover, which reminded him of a bigger problem.

His ring forced him between a rock and a hard place. Taking the ring off his finger then would temporarily cripple him with extreme cold, thus rendering him unable to gather his things or aid the party, but the longer he waited the worse it would be when he finally did remove it. Neither left him in a favorable situation.

Aside from two unfortunate results, there were also two benefits that were difficult to choose from. The longer he wore his ring the more he could remember of his time in the trance, including various combat and survival skills as well as powers he had discovered his ring was capable of. However, the longer he kept his ring off the more his current surroundings seemed familiar to him. Re-adjustment was much simpler without his ring, though over time he would forget all of what he remembered of the trance, leaving him inexperienced in things such as merely standing properly in armor.

There was also another issue Eruantian was not aware of. A side-effect of regaining knowledge from his trance was an attitude and personality much different from those before his trance; an ego that had known of the horrors of war and the cruelties of nature, both unforgiving to those without the unbreakable will to overcome and survive. This Eruantian was grim, untrusting, monosyllabic, and inclined to give a cold shoulder, much like the two men Tem encountered in Eruantian's subconscious mind.

Eruantian decided to consult Maxwell and/or Farnham on this matter before taking action, but also not to volunteer any more information to the others, particularly Taryn, Tem, and Marcus; each of whom had potential motives to take advantage of an opportune moment. In the mean time, he would wear his ring until given further orders and be careful not to light anything ablaze.

Horin chuckled at the expression on Prosper's face. "It's a Dwarvish healing tea, it has a root that help heal from within, but it only works part of the time, we (meaning Dwarves) drink it when we have no ale, I have a keg of it in the corner there" He said, pointing to a very small barrel in the corner of the wagon, underneath the seat. "It keeps infection away, after the magic wears off completely."[/quote]

Sealem's men, with aid from the rest of the group prepared nooses and strung them up over the rafters. Captain Sealem strode in and looked the two prisoners in the eye "Have ye anything to say before we hang ye?"

The two men fell to their knees: "Mercy, m'lord! Mercy! We'll go straight, hones we will. Just give us a chance to prove it."

Captain Sealem replied: "Well, I suppose it wouldn't be proper to hang ye without a trial first. Very well. We'll hang you by your feet instead of your heads and leave a note for the Mayor. His magistrate can dispose of you as he sees fit. After all it's his town, not mine. Men, string them up by their feet, and make sure their hands and arms are tied to their bodies."

"Yes, Sir!" came the response.

Farnham, in conspiratorial tones, whispered: "You never actually had any intention of hanging them, did you Sealem?"

Sealem smiled and replied: "Of course not. I'm a solider, not a hangman. Besides, this is Skarae Brae, not Suldeneselar. I don't have the authority to execute prisoners here. This way we've let the Lord Mayor know what we think of these criminal scum, and we've provided the noose for their eventual execution. Justice has been served, yes?"

Farnham nodded: "Yes, I suppose it has. Let us away."

With that, the two prisoners were hoisted up by their feet and left dangling about eight feet off the floor of the stables with notes tacked to their shoes and rope binding their hands and arms. Maxwell was still unconscious, so Sealem asked Marcus to carry him while they made their way back to Horin's camp.

Sealem signaled the "all clear" to Eruntian and motioned him over: "Good job covering our backs, Mister Eruntain. The mission was successful, as your probably observed. Now we make for White Dragon Peak. Unfortunately, it seems that someone has stolen the horses that were in this stable, so we walk from here. Can you go fetch your wagon and meet us at Horin's camp? I believe I can persuade the Town Watch to let us borrow one of their horses for your wagon, but we must move quickly. What say you?"

Eruantian did not know if he could trust the Captain, so he decided to show no objection. He simply responded "Aye" and left to find his wagon. His problem would have to wait.
