<GM's Note: Um, If he's at the Red Lion Inn, then he's back in Glenarbor... (which is a City, by the way.) Glanarbor is at least two days ride from Targos, which is where the group currently is. So, through the Magic Of The Gamemaster, your character suddenly finds that he was wrong and the Tavern is NOT the Red Lion Inn, but rather it is the smoldering ruins of Sam's Good Olde Time Tavern. Becasue otherwise you'll never catch up with the main group and we can't have that, can we?>

Oseph comes to the ruins and gets curious. Afterall, this is the first time in weeks he has been a a civilized area and to see this...

Oseph leaves Nirvana at the side of Sam's Good Olde Time Tavern, or at the side of whats left of it, and begins to investigate.

<OOC Nirvana, the two share something special. They have been Horse and Rider since Oseph was but a weee lad. Also, if I am being too bold, just let me know and I shall back off on making my own ideas that effect the story in a large way. OOC>

<OOC Well, he is the last of his kind and they were wiped out because they were so powerful. Everyone was afraid of them. Everything came at ease to them, they learn quickly. One area though that they never venture to though is magic and despise those that use it against them. It is unfair and evil in their eyes. They are combatants and survivalists, not sneaks or magicians.

Asani connect with some horses much the same way Men and Elves connect with Dragons. But it takes a long time to form any bond at all. Which is why when they do make one, it is special. Most Asani's horses perished before they could make such a bond, but in this time of peace, it wasn't that hard for Oseph to connect. That also means that the connection isn't as strong as one that his ancestor's would have had with a steed of their own.

{ not that it's my position to say in terms of the game, but as a roleplayer in general i have to say your character is pretty borderline, MooKoo. He needs some faults. Right now your Oseph is basically God Incarnate and that, in addition to being somewhat against the rules, just makes it boring, y'know? The only way to make your character more Mary Sueish is to make him hate himself for what he is. Mary Sueish = not good.

Also, just being "less powerful" than a regular Asani does not count as a /fault/. Imperfection is beautiful, embrace it. }

Acedia paced in a circle, sat down, got up again, and paced in a circle going the other direction, conveying boredom as well as a large black cat can...which is probably very well.

Taryn, too, was trying to come up with something that she could manifest herself as that would be just as frightening as an anthropomorphic lizard and a panther. A cockatrice? Not the greatest for a combat situation. Some other kinda giant snake? Eh, no, that never helps. Something inhuman might work...

He is from a great and ancient race, and being saved by a measly little man who thinks he is great because he is a King. Its depressing and downgrading to him, even though this man is the source of his life basically. Asani are extremely emotional and its not by their own fault, its embedded in their race and is their major fault. It lead to the basic extinction of their race. He lets his emotions control him and that is a huge fault. At least it is in my eyes.

Also, magic seems to be of a great deal in the land, and that will be a major fault since he hasn't had experience with magic. Magic isn't really known in the lands that he comes from. This magic may also awaken more emotions, since his ancestors were extremely anti-magic people.

Is that good enough of some faults or do I need add more? OOC>

Oseph is an Emo Asani that isn't sure if he hates magic. He knows about it and knows that it is dangerous. Therefore, he can't defend it. He may though like a magician...or his instincts will come out and he may only tolerate them...or he may just hate them with all of his heart.

I'm not giving everything away yet. OOC>

Put yourself in his situation, it doesn't matter how much skill you have, your alone. Thats a feeling that will drive anyone mad and not want to exist. The adventure is in becoming, "Someone".

<OOC> The first problem I saw was that you introduced your character during the tense build up of a battle, MooKoo. Breaking the momentum of a story before a battle was not the best of calls. It would have been better to wait until after Maxwell was rescued... Or killed in the rescue attempt, as the case may yet be.

After that, I noticed that you have designed a prodigy for yourself. I agree with Ten and Zepher when they say that you made your character much too powerful. Oseph would tip the scales to party's favor so easily that conflict would be too greatly reduced to make this story worth telling. Whatever emotional issues he has about being alone won't make him any less of an overpowered character. You can give him an Achilles heel, but he's still Achilles. The proper solution would be to tone him down significantly rather than just throwing in one or two downsides.

Other than being bad for the plot, your character doesn't have a good reason for being so powerful in the first place. The result of a mixture of two races wouldn't be a better race, but a reconfigured one. The result can not be greater than the sum of its parts, and you can not get every good part of both races. You lose about as much as you gain in the process.</OOC>

<GM's Note: I have to agree that Ospeh is too powerful, but remember: One can lose one's powers. I could think of something to re-define (retecon) the character but I'd rather the player do it for himself. Eruntian's powers have struggled to find their 'place' in this world, so I suggest that Osheph undergo a similar development.>

One thing I have to disagree with is that it is a good Plot! Read the setting and figure it out. I don't care what you say, its a good plot. I have talked it over with Sarge and he agrees.

Now, about my character being too powerful and making it no fun for the group. Who said he wanted to join your silly group anyways. Also, how long do you think he will last in this world, alone. Especially being completely vulnerable to any magic whatsoever.

Also, he isn't a merger of two races. He's just good with a Bow, Sword, and has great Endurance. Basically. That may seem like a blend of Elves and Dwarves. But if he ventured into other weaponry, would it sound like that? He's from another race, not a blend of two. And the "Common Enemy" to all people. That was a little hint.

Look, I've talked it over with Sarge and its all mashed potatoes and Gravy. I'm just going to knock his weaponry skill down just a smidgen because he is young, but he still has great Endurance. Since, that comes naturally to all Asani.

After investigating the scene Oseph finds that there was either a lot of commotion before or after the building demise. He also, notices that debris is spread far and wide. This puzzled him.

How can a building be burned to the ground, but debris be scattered everywhere? Also, why were there so many prints. Was there a brawl? But, where had the bodies gone if that was so? How could they have all been cleaned up, for fire was still burning amongst the debris. Then, he noticed organized tracks leaving the scene.

This was of course the way to his answer, but it seemed that something unusual was at the end of the path. He did what his instincts told him. He searched for someone with answers as to what might be at the end of that trail.

Oseph mounted Nirvana and headed off towards the market. Afterall, that is the best place to get info. Besides a Tavern of course, but the town seemed to be in a short supply of those now.

Oseph arrived at the market and saw a strapping young gentlemen of good stature. He seemed to be around the ripe age of 24 and a good strong knowledgeable man. The man was unloading some produce from his wagon as Oseph approached.

"Excuse me sir, may I inquirest from you how that Tavern down the street was destroyed?", asked Oseph curiously.

"Ye may, stranger, but I fear I shall not be of much help t' ye. I did see it explode, but I as to what caused the explosion... I canna say. A bloody shame, for 'twas the best tavern in these parts."

Just as Ospeh was about to say something to the man withb the produce wagon, he caught sight of a man-sized lizzard and creeping along the rooftops of a nearby row of houses.

<GM Pokes Ian with a stick and uses his GM Powers once again to move the story along>

Marcus (The lizzardman) had made his way up to the roof that Captain Sealem had pointed out to him. Marcus saw nothing unusual along the way, and had an easy time staying out of sight of the Livery Stable. He was ready to go, so he gave Captain Sealem the thumbs-up. From his hiding place, Captain Sealem nodded and gave the go-sign. This was it! The raid on the livery stable was about to commence!

Taryn saw Marcus give the thumbs-up sign and got ready herself. She'd decided to manifest as a stilken - a creature that bore a resemblance to an old woman, except with a mouth full of needle-teeth and a jaw that unhinged like that of a snake, and long, multi-jointed arms with treacherous hooks in place of hands. She quickly assumed the form and prepared to put the Fear of God™ into these goons, along with Acedia and Marcus.

You do realize that you won't get very far if Oseph doesn't join the party, right? Roleplaying with yourself not only interrupts every one else's story, but it's also stupid and pointless. What Somm-1 said is true - having such a powerful character makes it boring because there are no challenges to face - Oseph the Wonder Orphan can just leap in and solve any problem with his amazing fightin' skillz.

I'm sorry if I offend you. You just didn't seem to understand the point we've all been trying to make. }

<Alright, alright. I'm back. Sorry, I just got done with hell week for a school play and I've had alot of homework. Prosper had lapsed into shock, first from the fact that he might acctually BE on the rescue misson, then from the realization that he wasn't. Comeing out of his stupor, he remembered something Tayrn had said.
"Horrin, should we burn the wound?" Prosper said as he toyed with his bandage. The prospect wasn't appealing to him, but neither was loosing his arm.
