{ You know 'bedfellow' is a synonym for 'lover,' right? O_o;; -cough- Prosper's too young for either Taryn or Acedia anyway... } "What?" asked Taryn, looking back at Prosper, before he looked at Eruantian. Hee, the boy is frightened, she thought with a smile and a chortle. If you've never seen a ferret chortle, let me assure you that it's quite an unforgettable sight. |

"Is there anything you need, Eruananan?" Marcus couldn't quite pronounce the Half-Elf's name correctly. |

Eruantian seemed a bit taken back by everything at this point. "None of it was real" he nostalgicly stated "My friends, my mentors, my slayn enemies... all a dream, a fantasy, a lie..." Eruantian looked down at his ring and angrily shouted "The past twenty years of my life were a lie!" He yanked off his ring and fell to the floor shivering uncontrollably. <OOC> As you might recall, having the ring on for a few seconds sent small shiver down his spine. This time he has been wearing the ring for hours. </OOC> |

"I hate that feeling," mumbled ferret!Taryn before scrambling down Acedia's back and basically leaping to the floor. Once all four paws were down, she shifted back into her normal (in the loosest sense of the word) body and clothing, including the wholly-inappropriate-for-travel dress that was her trademark: made of a thin, white fabric that bore an uncanny resemblance to canvas, the dress reached to her knees. It had no sleeves and offered very little protection from weather or weapon. As soon as she was able, Taryn put the dark blue cloak she had been wearing previously back on. "Now I remember why I never liked magic rings," Acedia said quietly, looking at Eruantian. She would do more, but there isn't really anything she /can/ do that would be useful. |

Horin stared for a few seconds, not deciding what he should do, and decided: "Get a couple more blankets." He said as he grabbed two off the beds and threw them on topof the shivering man. "Let him shiver, it will warm him, get some firewood from the center of the camp and build a fire here." |

Prosper saw Eruantians distress and his heart went out to him. He rushed over to the shivering form of the half elf and nelt next to him. "Hey, hey. It's over, it's over. Your back. Your with friends." Prosper continued to comfort Eruantian, wispering claming words. |

<yoink!> "Eruantian! You're back! I'd kiss you if it wouldn't suck out your brains!" said Tem, instead hugging him. "I went into your mind, and that ring is definitly malicious." he grabbed the ring and stomped on it a few times. "But, you, uh, might want to see this." he handed Eruantian his big goggles, which played out the psychonautery expedition through Tem's eyes if Eruantian would put them on. "Wear em'. I think that you could provide us with some... answers to your mind." |

Prosper grabed the ring before any real harm could be done to it. "Tem stop! You wouldn't want to make it angry. Wait before you tell Eruantian your story. I think he might have a more in depth one." Prosper got up and serched the room for more blankets, he found some in an old chest and covered Eruantian with them. He then sat beside Eruantian and Tem, waiting for the shivering half elf to build himself back together. |

Taryn had slipped out of the tent for firewood and now came back, setting up the requested fire...and adding a helpful charm or two of her own, to make the fire a cleansing one - the equivalent of a good hot bath for a troubled mind. "I am no healer," she said, once the fire was going, "but I think a good sleep - true sleep, untainted by magical artifacts - would do wonders for Eruantian's condition." Hey, I said the name right, I think, Taryn added mentally. "However, I could be wrong," she said, looking to Horin for a yea or nay, since he was the professional healer after all. |

Eruantian was shivering a bit too much to react in any way at the moment, whether it be reception of comforting efforts, agitation due to mispronunciations of his name, or rage towards malicious attacks against the one possession that carries any special meaning for him. Had he been able to move at the moment, he might have decked Tem for violating both his thoughts and his property. Maybe he'll get around to doing that later.

Frustrated, Marcus began shaking Eruantian out of whatever trance he was in. "Wake up! Snap out of it! Move around!" |

The old elven Talismonger rose from his Walking Stick (which he had been sitting on the whole time) and picked up Eruntian's Ring and held it before him. "My sympathies for, young one. I feel your pain. I am not a healer, but a craftsman and a student of the enchanting arts: Master Talismonger Serhan of Targos, at your service. I offer you in solace my knowledge and expertise. Your ring, sadly, is in need of much more repair than I can do. I will speak plainly then: Your ring is now unsafe for you to wear and it needs to be reparied or this kind of thing may happen again. I managed to extricate you from the unnatural sleeping it had you in, but as I did so I saw some of the energies that run through the ring. You see, all enchanted objects have energies that course through them. They all draw upon an energy that flows from the world, and energy that we who deal with Magic know as the Manasphere. Your friend the Mage, here, knows of what I speak, as does your honoured Dwarven healer. All enchanted objects draw mana in different ways, in different mixtures and amounts. As such, they need to be properly tuned and balanced when they are made or they will begin to do things that they're not supposed to. This is because the world and it's Manasphere are constantly changing, but the objects we Talismongers make do not change. Thus, the Manasphere is constantly shifting it's harmonics, and so we talismngers must allow for this in our designs. However, even the best-made ring will eventually become out of harmony with the manasphere if not attended to properly. So, as I said, the harmony between a enchanted object and the Manasphere is one that continualy changes. Most objects have a great enough tollerance for this that they can be fine for hundreds of years without malfunctioning. However, your ring is ancient: It was forged thousands of years ago, in the time before the Great Cataclysm. So, your ring was likely out of harmony long before it was ever in your care. I'm surprised it worked at all, really. If you want to have the ring working like it's supposed to again, you will need to get the ring and yourself to the top of White Dragon's Peak and look up an old friend of mine there. Jaroun, a Master Ring Smith and the Grandmaster of my guild of Enchanters has the facilities and skills necessary to reset the ring's harmonics. I fear he would ask for very much gold for his services, but he is the only one who can help you. There is hope, however, for perhaps he would be amiable to a trade instead of gold. You see, I know of something rare that he alone desires, and you and your friends look to be just the sort of fellows to obtain it for him. Hrmmmm.. yes, I think a trade for his services could be worked out if you could get what he wants. I could contact him for you, if you like, yes?" <GM's Note: White Dragon's Peak is the westernmost mountain in the Barrier Mountains, a mountain range to the North that forms the boundary between Skarae Brae and Suldeneselar. The mountain is surrounded by (and it's foothills covered in) a forest which extends all the way to the Targos region. If you climb the Targos bell-tower on a clear day, you can actually see part of White Dragon's Peak off to the North. Micheal could probably get a pretty good look at it with that Farseeing spell of his.> |

Marcus saw that Eruantian wasn't responding, so the impatient Lizzardman started slashing Eruantian's face with his sharp claws as he kept shaking him. "SNAP OUT OF IT, YOU ELF!" |

"If you want I can use a spell to see the features of White Dragon's Peak but I have to get to the bell-tower of Targos" Maybe I could see what happened to my birthplace from there... |

<Whoa Whoa Whoa. This means that we have two new destinations. One is Squiddly Man mountain, the other is White Dragons Peak. If we add a reconisence mission to find out what the Drow are up to that makes three. Are we going to abondon a mission or are we going to spilt the party up temporarilly?> "I personally would like to stay above ground." said Prosper. "This area is not Flayer controlled, so there may be...things in the tunnels that we wouldn't wan't to meet." |

<No, not Squiddly Man place. It would actually go around every Flayer settlement, so enemies couldn't use it to launch attacks. But, most mountains are controlled by High flayers, but White Wolf is a small, non-militant village, with only about 3 Psions to protect it..> |
