"Your host, mystical flame snotface, Eruntian, is in some kind of trance, and I was sent in here to get him back. I've only got about a half hour left, though, or I'll be yanked out." said Tem,"And... well, SERIOUSLY, how did you get on Eruntian?!

From the ground next to the pedestal, another blue flame appeared and began to shape itself like a humanoid. When it took its shape, the flame went out and there, next to the pedestal, was a translucent image of Eruantian.

"This is the one of whom you speak" said the flame.

"This one will not be harmed" replied the flame "Leave us." And with that, both the flame and the image of Eruantian extinguished, leaving Tem in absolute darkness. A few moments later, he found himself in Horin's tent, with Eruantian still in a trance and several spectators watching them. Becuase of his instructions for Maxwell to hit him with his 'good basher', Tem must have wondered why his head was not throbbing. What Tem was unaware of at this point was that only a few minutes had gone by in the real world, which was far less time than what he spent in Eruantian's thoughts.

"okay guys -and Acedia- here's the deal,"said Tem," I went in there, and the ring's sentient. I killed 2 guys in there, and it captured me. It said he wasn't ready, but when I inquired further, it said it wasn't for me to know. Far as I can tell, the only way to end the ring's influence is mind control, and I don't know how to do that." He removed his goggles and the door and stowed them in his cloak.

Before he could reply, Tem started to move again, so he said after noticing that Eruantian didn't move: "Tem tried to read Eruantian's mind, and hopefully bring him out of his trance." And added, "How's your arm feel?"

Prosper had an idea; "Don't we have a mage in the party? Maybe he could tell us something about the ring."

"Eruantian may not be harmed," Taryn piped up, "but he is still a fire hazard. We really can't go anywhere until the ring is finished with him. If this group had formed about six decades ago, I may have been able to do something at this point. Alas, such is no longer the case."

"She'd just end up making the ring stupidly evil anyway," Acedia muttered.

"I'd been able to do that for all of /two hours/ at the time, Acedia," Taryn countered.

"It tried to kill us with a blade of grass."

"Well, I could bring all of us into his mind, but it would be incredibly dangerous. Imagine all the molecules in your body reversing at he speed of light, and then your head exploding. That's what would happen if I screw up." said Tem.

Maxwell spoke up: "Well, perhaps one of the townsfolk knows of a Talismonger we could consult. Talismongers specialize in magic items, you know. I'll bet a Talismonger could give us some idea what's up with Eruntian's ring. Sam the bartender seems to know about this area, let's go ask him if he knows of any Talismongers."

"I'll do it Horrin, I still need rest anyway." said Prosper. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine." he added. He also wanted to test his arm by himself, but he didn't mention it.
