Conservative pundit Ann Coulter has found a new enemy, 9/11 widows.

She doesn't realize how she's playing right into Hillary Clinton's hands. I mean, she says something, and Hillary comes out smelling like roses (Hillary Clinton got way too much positive press for attacking Coulter's statements. Making Coulter look like an idiot is like making BTG lech when Skee posts a picture).

false alarm, I was just showing how easy it is to attack Coulter.

Ann Coulter is number three on the Jitka List of Those Who Must Be Stopped Immediately, following only Pat Robertson and Paris Hilton.

She's either just plain evil, insane, or very smart in that she knows she has a solid conservative backing that will pay millions for every book she churns out.

She's evil, huh?

I wasn't aware being a mean-spirited angry individual qualified someone for the "evil" label.

Are you suggesting she be killed?

Not killed, taken out. We can kidnap her with our resources to stop a full scale war!
Well, I pretty much hate Ann Coulter. I am a conservative, and she gives our group a very bad name. Then again, so does every person on the far end of the spectrum.

No... He's just suggesting she be stopped. I agree. She makes the rest of of right wingers look nuts.

Hmm.... and of course her comments obviously has nothing to do with the fact that 9/11 families were largely critical of the Bush administration. [/sarcasm]

Well, I don't know if she's evil, but the woman is clearly shameless.

BTW, I have to comment on this phrase she used: the "Left's doctrine of infallibility". Don't you love it when self-promoting hacks use meaningless phrases to make themselves look very important and smartified?

i have to agree that she is a complete tool who ends up hurting the cause of conservatives. as a lefty, i really like some conservatives (mmmmm.... PJ O'Rourke. i would do nearly anything that man says.) and i know i'm intelligent enough to separate coulter from McCain but a lot of people cannot.

I was thinking that, too. I could just as easily say that the "Right's Doctrine of Infallibility" is the attitude of "our methods have been around a long, long time, so they MUST be all correct!"...to which I reply "Ever read The Lottery by Shirley Jackson?"

All I wanted to say was "SHUT UP!" to her. I'm pretty sure the widows cared for the death of their loved ones instead of the media (well, I'm sure most) and it sounded like she was saying everyone widowed by the attacks enjoyed the publicity instead of mourning. And she did it with an interrupting, annoying, and angered way.

One of the rare few people I can't stand whatsoever.

I heard that part of the reason she was angered was because she had some vehicle trouble. Her Broom broke down on the way to the studio.

Do whatever you want, but be sure to smile and play nice while doing it.

High five. *high five'd!*

Listening to that, it's obvious that she's an extremist. And I have no respect for extremists. MODERATES FTW!

No one ever says they're an extremist, by the way. Saying you're a moderate is the cool thing to do these days.

I'm also a moderate. Too bad I didn't save my political compass so I could prove it. :p

What do you mean by that? Are you saying that people are moderate because it's en vogue, and all their favourite celebrities are doing it?

If so, I disagree. (Most) people choose moderacy because they've seen the distruction extremism causes. You can't be born in a century with two world wars, and numerous ethnic cleansing campaigns, and not learn that.

Ann Coulter, I think, is a shining example of rampant screw-the-world self interest. She reminds me of Madonna: constantly looking for some new way to be outrageous, but the only person who clearly benefits from her schtick is her.

I disagree... Anyone on the other side of the political spectrum (or even in the middle) can say she's 10 pounds of crap in an 8 pound bag and make themselves look great.

Hmm.... true. Though for the sake of splitting hairs, more moderate conservatives say the same thing about Coulter to make themselves look great - i.e. to reclaim the dignity of conservatism from the lunatic fridges.

Though I see what Mike D is saying too. Coulter has no intention to help either her friends or her enemies, wittingly or unwittingly. The woman is all about self-promotion.

I used to think Coulter was a creation of the left in America, created only to discredit the conservatives. The same goes for George Bush.. Seriously, you don't think we conservatives picked that guy, do you?

Heh...OK, I have to give you that one. Odd how many TV talking heads have been lining up to defend her, though. "Coulter doesn't lie." "I don't like the way she said it, but she has a point."

Exactly the point I was trying to make earlier in the thread.

It seems you all put more stock in delivery than in the message. Why is that?

I'm not going to defend Coulter as a person... she portrays herself as an angry and mean person, and I don't condone that. But why not attack the message instead of the person? Just smells like partisan politics to me.

And I've come to expect more from this forum.

Author:  What's Her Face [ Sat Jun 10, 2006 8:51 pm ]

Maybe you've got a point, lahi. But the thing is, in Coulter's case, the message is the person, because the vast chunk of what she says is her own opinion. She's admitted that it's her own opinion. When she declared to the world that she supported Apartheid, for example, she was declaring to the world that she was a racist. It's not hard to equate the message with the person when it comes to Ann Coulter.
