Based on the thread called: "Who is this God person, and why should I care?" Based on a thread I participated in early last year. This thread was full of the most uninteligant popycock I've ever laid eyes on. This is because it was full of hate and consumed with rage. It flowed with mud-slinging and was nothing more than a battleground. This unholy war that occured on this page is a reminder of the worst face humanity has: Persecution. We must learn from this page as an example of when things go ugly. A person should not be persecuted for their faith or ideas, but heard and respected (or at least heard). We must all have the common decensy to listen when some one talks and to never disrespect them with insults. I ask that this thread be locked also, so as to remind people of these words, and not of the words of others, who may be heartful to the ideals of my actions. Thank you. |

hey, i didn't see any of those threads and i don't necessarily agree with what they sound they are like, but i don't think most people here are about persecuting you, or anyone else. and hey if you don't like a forum you don't have to be here and you sure don' thave to read this section which can be hurtful. a lot. as for this thread being locked, i disagree. you are in a free, public forum and the point of threads are to initiate conversation. some punches you just have to roll with and one of those punches is the unfortunate all-encompassing aspect of free speech. voltaire never actually said this, but it is oftend attributed to him because it sums up an essay he once wrote: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" i don't know if i could be that strong, but that's how free speech is. like i said i didn't see those threads (at least i dont think so i'm pretty new), but i'm sure they got ugly and that sucks. but if everyone got to post a statement as a thread here and ask that it be locked when they want to say something, it would never work out, the entire system would disintergrate for all of the people trying to make individual statements. hope this response helps and you know i'm not trying to undermine your topic statement. |

Don't take my little speach as an attack on free speach my friend, but rather I wished to address the public that such threads could easily get out-of-hand and could cause harm in any run. I merely wish to remind people of what they are capable of, and what is truly just. Freedom of speech doesn;t always have to be an exuse to insult. In fact, insult that may cause harm to a single person or even a group of people, is against the law in this country. But I must agree with the idea that I must take the blows of people around me, as long as I am not in any way mentally harmed by their words. |
